Oh of course not all music, and the same for not all literature as well. I think the reason why people hold previous decades so dear is because only GOOD music survives many years later. The Velvet Underground were unheard of during their time, but in later decades they have received an incredibly large amount of acclaim.
I would say the same for modern music. I don't even listen to things in the charts most of the time; there really is a lot of incredible music out there still, even if it can rarely be found in the vein of popular music.
But, to be sincere, I have to combat your statement. While it's true that Literature and Music are timeless, the same cannot be said for all music. Unfortunately, contemporary music lacks true girth. However, that's just my opinion of the subject. Granted I don't listen to much music that's been produced this decade.
Hm, I agree. In terms of objectivity, I enjoyed the music Paul Simon produced during the Apartheid.
Well, it was very nice to meet you!
Thank you for posting in my blog. I always figured there was too big of a generational gap for other here to know Simon and Garfunkel. It's nice to be proven wrong.
