Apart from exams a few weeks ago, I've essentially had November off. Yes, I should have been revising, but most of that has been spent either reading, watching TV or films.

Ah that's okay then, I just wasn't sure whether it was me being stupid or not lmao. I did check out his 08 list, tbh I haven't seen or even heard of a lot of those films. Not sure if I agree with much of it either (the first thing I noticed was he put Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in his most recent list, and I hate that film), but I will take note of him from now on anyway.

More or less similar thoughts to me. It's been a while since I've seen it, (had to wiki it just to remember character/actor names) But Rossellini's acting I remember was quite comedic to me as well. The ending was crazy and tbh, that ending and the scene where Jeffrey first breaks into the apartment are the only memorable parts of the movie. But I think they pretty much make up for everything else.

Yep, as you know, I love Mulholland Drive. I've since figured that I should try watching Inland Empire again when I'm a bit older, because I just cannot get into it at this point.

I'm lagging behind with the film watching. I haven't watched one in months, I'm in a stint where I can't concentrate because of all these other thoughts flying around. I got a book from the library the other day, I returned it after 2 chapters; not because it was bad, because I was just incapable of sitting down and reading it.

Not yet. Apparently he's been writing a book which, on top of his teaching job, has eaten up a lot of his time. Still, he actually resumed the countdown last week, so hopefully there'll be more updates. You can have a look at his 2008 list (they're updated every 2 years as his opinions change and alter and such) by clicking 2008 List by Rank, Title or Grade.

Ridiculously weird and entertaining; emphasis on ridiculous. The surreal bits were probably my favourite (Hopper being the best thing in it by a country mile), and the occassionally stilted dialogue sometimes worked wonders (the recurring bit about Heineken and the fabulous comeback with "PABST BLUE RIBBON!") but there were parts of it where I honestly thought it was an unintentional comedy i.e. most of the stuff with Laura Dern. She got given some really crappy dialogue to work with, and I didn't believe her romance with Kyle McLachlan. But overall I enjoyed it. Still prefer Mulholland Drive and even Inland Empire, but twas good nonetheless.

I'm on his top 100 list, like idk how to navigate this site. I can only see 100-90, it says "unveiling one by one" is he not finished yet?

Older reviews of his are good to read - and his Great Movies columns are still very good - but my taste has diverged from his in recent years... I think after his thyroid cancer, unfortunately. My favourite critic is this guy. He's more in line with my taste (not 100%, but no one is going to be) and the reviews themselves are extremely well-written.

Also, I saw Blue Velvet yesterday. Suffice to say my mind has been ****ed. I thought that was Lynch trying to be normal!

Glad you like the new changes, and the film examples are all real! (Figured Withnail & I would be the best representation for yourself.) The bit about the unbolded song examples has now been rectified - merci! And finally, your claims have been updated. Thanks for claiming!
