Who started the PokéCommunity?
Master Kwesi Nkromah! He's the community founder, though he's not around too much anymore.

What were the "Community Sites"?
Prior to November 1st, 2008, PC operated under a "community sites" system. Essentially, PokéCommunity was the official forum of several Pokémon fan sites out there, and their webmasters were granted the rank of "community site administrator."

This system is no longer in use. If you're curious as to the reasons, ask one of the staff members in a PM.

What do the positions at PC mean? Such as Administrator?

The PokéCommunity has different tiers that represent a person's standing within the forums. These tiers influence the amount of responsibility a member is allowed to have while posting, and in no way reflects their status as individuals. A member with a higher donation tier, for example, is not "better" than a member who hasn't donated. For information on supporter tiers, see "What are the supporter ranks and what differences do they have?"

The staff of PC can be broken into different ranks that represents the amount of responsibility they have within across the board. They can be individuals that watch over a section or another platform, or the people who look after areas outside of local forums, but still carry the name, rules, and overall atmosphere we generate at PC, such as The PokéCommunity Pokémon Showdown server.

  • Fan Games Team moderate the fan games area on the forums. Some oversee the ROM Hacking sections, while others focus on other Game Development.
  • Developers & Designers aid the administrators in developing the forum's design and functionality, such as adding new features or styles or improving the site's performance.
  • Social Media Team run our social media platforms, such as PC Twitter and PC Facebook. You're always welcome to comment on media posts and get in touch with them there!
  • Discord Moderoids moderate our PC Discord Server and do their best to make it the most fun place to hang out and most useful place for chatting about Pokémon besides the forums.
  • Daily Staff produce content for the zine PokéCommunity Daily as well as moderate the Daily Workshop section. They find and create news and articles for you to enjoy on a regular basis - but you don't have to be a part of the Daily Staff to contribute yourself! Read more here.
  • Battle Staff moderate PC's battle server as well as the Competitive Pokémon section. Besides enforcing PC's rules and keeping spammers at a minimum, the battle staff sustains a fun, friendly environment while members battle and chat with other members of The PokéCommunity. They are also responsible for updating the server regularly and making sure it functions properly and being available both on the server and on the forums to address any concerns that arise.
  • Moderators are the members who look after one or more sections that make up The PokéCommunity Forums. Their role is to perform standard moderation cleanup within their section(s), which includes but is not limited to closing and moving threads, issuing emblems, and (hopefully seldom) handing out warnings/infractions. Moderators are the members one should contact if ever in need of help, whether it be a question about a specific section or thread or a request to resolve an issue with another member. Moderators go out of their way to make themselves available for open discussion with anyone and everyone, so don't hesitate.
  • Administrators consist of the members who have total control over The PokéCommunity Forums. They deal with the most fundamental of issues within the community and are often responsible for the drastic aesthetic and practical changes that effect the way member's personalize and view the forums. Administrators oversee all staff teams and platforms of PC and play the most prominent role in shaping PC to be the best forum it can be.
  • Owner rank denotes ownership of the forum, a title currently held by Sheep. Along with the administrators, the owner of PC make all final decisions for the running of the community. The owner is the fluffiest lady on all of PC and commands the utmost of love from her dear memberlings.

What are the supporter ranks, and what are the differences?

Supporter rank is granted when you donate money to PokéCommunity. The more money you donate, the higher your tier and the more perks you gain. The potential Supporter categories are as follows:

  • Silver Tier members ($5.00 - $14.99) have access to our VIP forums, have larger PM boxes and have several profile bonuses;
  • Gold Tier members ($15.00 - $24.99) are able to create their own PC Blog, have access to any beta forums, and further increases on their profile customisation;
  • Crystal Tier members ($25.00 +) gain their very own PokéCommunity email address, the ability to customise their user titles with CSS, and further advances on their profile customisation.

How do I make a blog?

Blogs are an additional feature on The PokéCommunity and while everyone is free to comment on public blogs, they can only be created if you meet the following criteria:

  • Become a Gold Tier Supporter or higher by donating at least $15;
  • Obtain at least 2,000 posts;
  • Become a community staff member.

When you become a Gold Tier Supporter, your blog privileges will be granted once your usergroup has been set. As for becoming a staff member or reaching 2,000 posts, your usergroup promotion will be automatic, so you will receive blogging privileges immediately. These are the only ways to receive a blog. Each method is entirely objective and no special exceptions will be made.

What are emblems and how can I get one?

Emblems are a feature on PokéCommunity that allows the staff to recognize members for a variety things. Some might be awarded based for great, conducive posts, for making unforgettable typos, and some might be awarded as an award for contests/competitions, and some others have yet to even be discovered! Staff are the arbiters of what constitutes someone whom deserves an emblem, and thus anyone receiving one is hand-picked by staff and not automatic. Emblems can be perceived as a sort of medal of honor, if you will, so if you receive one, be proud of it: you deserve it.

What are the exceptions to the revival rule?

PokéCommunity's global rules include a rule that restricts threads to be posted in after it has had no replies for thirty (30) days. However, some forum sections have rules in place that allow exceptions to this rule. The following forums have an exception:

  • ROM Hacking: the No Revival rule only extends to Beginner's Lounge, Progressing Hacks, ROM Hacking Hub; The Team Room threads may be posted in after no longer than two (2) months.
  • Roleplay Corner: the section allows for game masters to revive their own threads, within reason.
  • Game Development: threads may be posted in after no longer than two (2) months.
  • Fan Fiction & Writing: threads may be posted in after no longer than two (2) months.
  • Art & Design: threads may be posted in after no longer than two (2) months (this rule does not apply for gallery/shop owners, who are free to revive their threads at any time.

Furthermore, if you're unsure of an individual forum's rules regarding posting in inactive threads, make an effort to ask the moderator as they're likely to know better than anyone else.

Why can't I post links until I have made five posts or more?

The limitation of members not being allowed to post links cuts down on spam, as well as prevents a new user to join PC with the intent to advertise their service. Once you have a total of five posts around the forum, you will be able to post links.

I keep hearing about "Get-Togethers"; what are they?

PokéCommunity Get-Togethers are a yearly celebration meant to invite members to participate in other member-created events. The Get-Together is designed to unite members of PokéCommunity forum-wide in order to incite a feeling of togetherness, as has been tradition. Get-Togethers run every year so if you happen to miss participating in it one year, the next one isn't too far around the corner!

PokeCommunity Supporter's EMAIL Setup and Usage

First off, thanks for supporting your Community!

We'll try to give you all the basic info you need here to use your new PC Email account..

We'll break it down in to various usage groups, i.e. pop3/smtp, imap, secure imap, and webmail.

To check your mail through a desktop application you will need to configure the application. Your mail server is most likely You will need to use the full username ( and password when setting up your account in your desktop mail application. It is a good idea to check 'My Server Requires Authentication' as well as our mail servers requires this option. If your e-mail client has trouble using a @ sign in the login, you can use +, :, or % sign instead.


This is the basic email setup used in various clients like outlook (and express), thunderbird, and so on.

Incoming Mail Server: POP3 port 110 IMAP port 143
Incoming Mail Server: (SSL) POP3 port 995 IMAP ( alt mail url) port 993
Outgoing Mail Server: (server requires authentication) port 25, 587
Outgoing Mail Server: (SSL) (server requires authentication) port 465
You can use for both incoming and out going mail settings as well as for SSL/TLS secure email (* IF you accept the security certificate note *)

Supported Incoming Mail Protocols: POP3, POP3S (SSL/TLS), IMAP, IMAPS (SSL/TLS)
Supported Outgoing Mail Protocols: SMTP, SMTPS (SSL/TLS)


PC Webmail Interface

Webmail allows you to check your email from a web browser as opposed to a desktop mail application such as Outlook Express or Thunderbird. This means that you can check your email from any web browser. Please make sure to log out when checking your email on public computers so that other people cannot read your email.

You can check the webmail for your account by logging into with the full username ( [use lower case only]) and password for the email account (port 2095 can also be used for non SSL [https]ie, or visit OR and login.

We suggest using Horde as your webmail choice, it has a great feature set that includes some shared functions (calendars, address books, etc.) and for a simple interface choose squirrle mail. If you have continued issues getting it working, just PM an upper staff or admin member for more help. Don't keep trying to login after you receive an error as we have too many wrong passwords protection enabled.
