  • Hi Exe.

I see you have are getting more skilled at pixel art and that is very good. I'm proud of you for that. However I feel I should have been more detailed on teaching recoloring and I apologize for that.

When I said to replace the original colors with corresponding colors, I should have empathize outlines in particular. Yes...recoloring outlines is a pain but if you don't, the misplaced colors will stick out like a sore thumb under the new palette. You have to recolor outline color as well as the pokemon's main body colors.

Feel free to ask any questions~!
Ok here's an example of a recolor. Let's say you want to recolor Poochyena with Piplup colors.

Take a Poochyena sprite and place a Piplup sprite next to it for reference.

Then zoom in and use the color picker (the eyedrop thing) to copy the lightest color off Poochyena. Make a block out of that color. Then do the same with the second lightest color and so forth. Do the same for Piplup's colors and have all color blocks next to each other like so.

Now you replace all of the Poochyena colors on Poochyena with the corresponding Piplup colors.

Take out Piplup and color palette and tada~! A blue poochyena~!

Do the same technique when adding pokemon limbs in the "Pass the Sprite" game. By recoloring the limbs to match, you make it more believable.
Use the "zoom in/out" feature in conjunction with the "thumbnail" feature. That way you can work on tiny details while being able to see how the overall sprite will look like zoomed out.
    Hi exe,

I read your conversation with dragonfly. She's a master sprite editor, but don't worry, she's not trying to intimidate you or anything. I myself had to edit my first post THREE TIMES before getting it right.

Also, there's an amazing function called Zooming in, so you don't have to do any enlarging. Also, here's a tip: under the selection bar in paint, selet the option "transparent selecting": it really helps!

If you still can't figure out how to do it, then face it, it's not your stuff. My brother (mimimahboul) learned that too, and found interest in Roleplaying in the RP corner instead!

    Salam, Foxrally
    Here's what you do:
    1. Right click image.
    2. Go to "Save Image as..."
    3. Save image onto computer.
    4. Open saved image using Microsoft Paint.
    5. Edit Image.
    6. Use an online conversion site to make URL for your image. (I personally use iaza)
    7. Post image.
It is not the machamp hands. It is the fact that you made the sprite a 200+ X 200+ pixel sized monster. No one does that!! You distort the sprite as a result and other people end up turned off from playing because it is too much to hassle to fix!
