  • So, have you managed to play for some more? :)

On the other hand, would you mind telling me some things about yourself? I would love to know you a bit better^^
Training is indeed a problem in the third generation. If I were you I would not buy any vitamins, your Pokemon gain enough EVs from battles anyway. You can switch train the Taillow and Trapinch for a while, or find a nice spot with wild pokemon. A nice way to train is to use the PokeNav, which allows you to check for trainer rematches. You could also go to the Trick House north of Slateport city.

Note: You are about 5 levels HIGHER than I was when I first beat the 8th gym... :3
    Swellow:
    Fly
    Steel Wing
    Double Team
    Quick Attack

The vitamins aren't relevant yet, as you are not that far in the game yet. And not taking them means they already have max EVs, thus that is a good thing ;).
Emerald is not necesarily better than Ruby, it just has a bit more story.

    Swampert:
    Surf
    Ice Beam
    Earthquake

Any nice move you like :)

    Gardevoir:
    Calm Mind
    Psychic
    Thunderbolt
    Hypnosis/Double Team

You should definitely get a Breloom! It's really good.

    Breloom:
    Sky Uppercut
    Return/Strenght
    Giga Drain
    Leech Seed

    Camerupt:
    Flamethrower
    Earthquake
    Rock Slide
    Amnesia/Fissure/Overheat

As for a Dragon type, I would not suggest Salamence. You can get Bagon only after the last gym and it will not be very good until it becomes a Salamence. I would suggest using Flygon (<3)
Be sure to name it to me haha ;3.

    Flygon:
    Earthquake
    Dragon Claw
    Crunch
    Iron tail/Rock Tomb/Fire Blast/Giga Drain/Fly

An alternative would be Altaria, but it is significantly weaker offensively.

    Altaria:
    Dragon Dance
    Aerial Ace/Sky Attack
    Dragon Claw
    Earthquake

And lastly, if you don't like Swellow, consider Crobat as your flying type. It's even faster than Swellow!

    Crobat:
    Wing Attack/Aerial Ace/Air cutter
    Sludge Bomb
    Steel Wing
    Confuse Ray/Giga Drain/Shadow Ball

You shouldn't use Hariyama, as Breloom already is a fighting type, you won't need 2. I hope I helped! Good luck with your research and the game ;). You will do just fine, I know you can do it!^^
I'm proud that you made it! R/S/E are actually quite difficult in my opinion, but I will help you get through it! :). As for the starter, do NOT use Treecko, it's just not good. Use Swampert, it's by far the best one. Other nice Pokemon to use are: Gardevoir, Breloom, Swellow, Manectric and Camerupt. But be sure to search for some pokemon you like first, then we can choose the other few to support your favorites!

On a side note, how are you doing?:)
Well wow, I just read a post by you that you're trying to watch the yugioh anime O_O. That's just what I'm doing too! Except that it's mainly having not enough time rather than being able to watch for longer than 30 minutes that's making me unable to get through it fast. I'm at episode 107 now I think. Just after the machine duel ;3.
    Alakazam:
    Calm Mind
    Psychic
    Recover/Shock Wave
    Reflect

Alakazam's moveset completely sucks, but it has great Sp Atk. Calm Mind boosts this even more so it can sweep easily. Shock Wave is for coverage, Recover if you want durability.
    Needs vitamins for Special Attack

    Gengar:
    Shadow Ball
    Psychic
    Thunderbolt
    Hypnosis

Shadow Ball for stab, Psychic/Thunderbolt for special attacks and Hypnosis because sleep is awesome.
    Needs vitamins for Speed

    Lapras:
    Surf
    Thunder
    Rain Dance
    Ice Beam
This way you can use Rain dance even better, while Thunder has same chance on paralysis as Body Slam!
    Needs vitamins for HP

    Venusaur:
    Sleep Seed
    Leech Seed
    Sludge Bomb
    Razor Leaf

Sludge Bomb is stronger than Hidden Power, the other 2 moves are nice!
    Needs vitamins for Special Defense

    Snorlax:
    Body Slam
    Earthquake
    Rest
    Sleep Talk

No need for 2 normal moves and Earthquake is just awesome!
    Needs vitamins for Defense

You know what moves I suggested for Zapdos. Zapdos doesn't need vitamins, it's legendary already xP.

These are the movesets I suggested, while trying to keep your strategy intact, especially on Lapras and Snorlax, because they are pretty nice already :).
You might want to use a PP up on Rain Dance, Earthquake or Psychic, as those have quite low PP.
Using Rare Candies is not considered cheating as long as you found them in your game legally, either because it's in there or by pickup :).

There you go, I hope it will help you! I liked doing this, so if there's anything else, just ask :D.
Well hi, nice to meet you^^. It's nice that you're using Lapras, but it's stats aren't as bad as you would think. It is bulkier than Jolteon and has a way better typing than Arcanine, so you got a great team member there. Lapras can also learn stuff like Thunderbolt and Ice beam, so it's really awesome! ;D. And Always go with your favorites if you can ;).

    For Zapdos:
    Thunderbolt/Thunder
    Drill Peck
    Thunder Wave
    Steel Wing

Thunder(bolt) and Drill Peck are 0bvious stab moves. Thunder Wave is a great status move to have in the Pokemon League, while Steel Wing is awesome for beating thoe pesky Rock types who resist Thunderbolt and Drill Peck.

If you got any other questions, just VM me, I'll be happy to help! :). Or just if you want to talk ofcourse ;D.
Natures don't really matter all that much unless if you're a serious competitive player. Any keen Pokemon gamer would know that. You don't need to rely on a certain nature to bring out potential unless if its competitive play you're concerned about.
No problem, I just wanna make new members feel welcome!

And yeah, I do hope you stick around and become an active member. I've been here since 2011 so yeah pretty old lol.
    Hi Melua, it's Hikari here.

I noticed you love Chespin the best of the new starters. He's cute as well but my fave of the three is Froakie, cos I love Water-types. Fennekin's alright too, but that little fox is overrated.

And yeah I feel sad too, the games release date is long after my birthday (mine being October 1st) so yeah, I have to settle for them as Christmas gifts like with the last Pokemon games I got, Black 2 and White 2.

How's PC going for you so far?
