    You messing up!

Well not really. MUCC is alright, Blood Stain Child was kinda meh until their Epsilon album. But I digress. I'll definitely give those bands a look though when I finally get off the UNiTE train.

That sounds good =) helping her with maths would be a sweet idea. I like the idea of her love of sea animals. You could look into them yourself and incorporate some rarer or more unusual species for her to talk about like the blob fish or the axolotl =D

I've picked up a few writing books recently. Creative Writing for Dummies (it's actually quite good), and one that is full of writing prompts to help with writer's block. It's called Four Seasons of Creative Writing. I recommend looking into it if you like that kind of thing =) it's also free on the kindle so if you have a kindle or the kindle app, give it a go =D

Hmm traits... to be honest, if I were writing a character with Aspergers/Autism, I'd aim to focus on traits like being really talented in a specific area - science, maths, literature, crafts, video games... I'd also focus on the fact sarcasm isn't clearly understood straight away. For example, Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory doesn't understand sarcasm at all, especially in earlier seasons. He learns it as the TV show moves along - here is a great example from season 1.
Obsessions are another one, but these can be based around skills too. Personally, using myself as an example, I'm obsessed with Pokemon and my talents lie in learning very quickly but only if I'm interested in what I'm learning. My mum is still surprised I taught myself to crochet in 3 days using YouTube videos. Granted I can only crochet 3 Dimensional objects. Flat things stress me out when I miss stitches because I don't like keeping track of numbers since I really don't like maths XD (this makes EV training Pokemon a bit tiresome. If I go wrong, I don't backtrack to fix it perfectly since it means doing maths...)
They're the traits I'd focus on. More severe ones would be meltdowns but if you don't want it to seem too severe but to still be clear she has Autism I'd have meltdowns happen in stressful situations like crowds or after an argument. It can also go hand-in-hand with other conditions such as Dyspraxia (a lack of fine motor control which I have to a mild extent - I'm often bumping into things and broke my toe running into a wall when I was having a hyper moment (and I was in my early 20s at the time, not a child...)) There's also Dyslexia as well. That could be an easier one to incorporate because she could send a text to her boyfriend/love interest and mis-spell a word in a funny way, which he could find endearing.

Child-like hyperness is another one I'm personally prone to which is typical of women with Aspergers. I jump and clap, skip and fangirl-squeal! I hope these help a little bit =)

I'm not sure if you mean empathy or sympathy since I've got the two mixed up a bit. I've had to get clarification on what they both mean.
Empathy is not my strong point. I'm good at sympathy but not empathy. With sympathy I'm aware of people's needs and pain and can be understanding in those times. But if I were sat with a crying person I can tell you I honestly don't cope well in that situation. My impulse is to cheer them up by being really silly or sticking a sit-com on the TV. When my friend is feeling really low, I write silly stories for him and email them to him. It works though. They do cheer him up. I love writing for others. I think that's why I like writing fanfiction so much.

I can tell you what I do lack, however. A maternal instinct towards human children. I haven't a clue what to do with them, and have no interest in babies whatsoever. I don't know if this is related to empathy or not, but if a child starts to cry or scream I either get away as quickly as possible or stick my headphones on otherwise I'm on the brink of a meltdown.
One time, at Church, a child had tripped up and scuffed her face on the carpet. She was crying. I looked at her, turned back to my music, then thought 'wait... crying child. She's distressed.' I got up and went to find someone who can deal with children, because I didn't know what to do.

I'd need to look into it myself to see what it says about Autism and empathy. My husband has worked with children on the Autism spectrum and I had to ask him for clarification on empathy and how he thinks I deal with it. He agrees I personally struggle with it a lot but that I am a sympathetic person, which is typical of someone with Aspergers.

I don't really take offence if someone says I lack something since I've known there's something wrong with me for the better part of 30 years before I got my diagnosis, but I think I would be a little hurt if someone told me I had no clue on other's feelings. I am really worried about offending others so I often apologise if I feel I've so much as raised my voice or may have said something offensive if I've been making a point.
I agree with you that we just don't express these things the same as others. My sister's great in a crisis. She's like a little nurse and always has been more level headed than me. But when it comes to someone being upset, she's more likely to make a cup of tea or pull out some wine and talk it over with them whereas I'm more likely to make some hot chocolate and plug in the Nintendo and play some games to 'take their mind off it'. I'll try to talk to them, but I end up being 'talked to' more than engaging in talking myself.

    Quick Self-Introduction
I'm the most amazing, kind, adorbz, sweet, lovable weirdo you'll ever meet. :D
Well, the name's Kimi. No, I'm not Japanese. The origin of my nickname comes from my favorite rugrat named Kimi Finster. Kimi is also short for Kimberly, which is my real name. Please call me Kimi though. :3 I am diagnosed with a high-functioning form of autism. There are times when this can cause me a great deal of social anxiety. You'll have to excuse me if I don't interact much.

I also have ADHD and Severe Generalized Anxiety Disorder. This often creates a lot of stress for me. :c I do my best to be as strong as possible though and be the happiest person I am meant to be. I love to make new friends too, so don't be afraid to add me!

I'm a strong believer in music saving lives, seeing how it's saved mine many times. I wouldn't be here today if not for the power of it. Music has shown me that I'm not alone in the world. It has helped me through a lot of tough times in my life and showed me that everything will be okay in the end!
