It's up to you, I'm aiming to maintain save compatibility for v3 so you should be able to continue with your save if you do choose to play with the current release. Of course, there will be some time between you completing the current release and the next one coming out, so it's up to you if you want to play some of the game and then wait before continuing, or waiting and then playing more of it at once.
