hey, one Q about the storyline:
will the thief actually steal the pokemon successfully?
because if he does I can make it so your rival thinks you helped him steal it,
and the theif could be a second rival too.

So to progress in the storyline you try to get more badges and find the thief and then you can battle your rivals at positions in the story.

i think it'll be easier to discuss your pkmn idea through that instead of vm's

thats not the attitude you should be taking everyone on this forum that are making games have their hands FULL with their own games and i had to learn to do tilesets myself

you may find that you need to combine tilesets yourself because i did 1 huge tileset for me and 1 i cant send it to anyone i dont know why but it is too big and opens all pixelated and blured it is easy if you want to learn
