  • The first wild Caterpie you face when you enter Viridian Forest is a triggered script - it will always be a level 5 Caterpie. That's technically the Caterpie you're supposed to capture and train, but there's nothing special about it - any Caterpie will do.
    Sorry for intruding, but I noticed you had a problem with saving on vba. If you go to options -> Emulator -> Save Type -> Flash 128kb, you should be able to save normally.
    I'm not exactly sure but you should make sure that your save type is 128k. I've heard that you need to delete your save file in order to get it to work.
    Hmm. The most I can figure is you may have the wrong save type configured. What emulator do you use? And maybe a picture of the error. Is it an error from the game? Or is it the emulator? Is the directory savable? The more info you can give, the better.
    I think so, now if you've saved, just go to file, click load file and click the one you saved on to start playing.
    well, here's what you do:
    Go to "File"
    Go to Save Game, and you should see:

    1 -----------------------
    2 -----------------------
    3 -----------------------
    4 -----------------------
    5 -----------------------
    6 -----------------------
    7 -----------------------
    8 -----------------------
    9 -----------------------
    10 -----------------------

    What you do is you just click on one of these and your status is saved! then if you want to reload your game, go to "Load File" and click the one you registered it on! you can save absolutely ANYWHERE with this system including in the middle of a battle or in the middle of a cutscene!
    Ah, yes, that happens to all firered roms i'm afraid, and it's a hack of firered isn't it? i've never been able to fix this, however, get Visual Boy Advance for your emulator and use the save files to save it, if you want i'll give you some screenshots.

    As for myself, I'm trying to make a ROM hack. Are you interested? I'm not even started - I barely made 3 maps.
    Huh? You just rename the file, and that's it. (Remember to rename the file so that the name before the extension is the exact same as the patch file (minus the extension).)

    For example:

    Game Name.gba
    Game Name.ips

    (Replace Game Name with actual file name)
    Get the ROM named the same as the patch file, put both files in the same folder, run the ROM. VBA should handle the patching automatically.

    anyway, download a new one?
    why not just duplicate your Emerald ROM?
