The icon thing is going slow, and far more complex than I thought, I can't seem to find a really good guide, well I found one but its for emerald, so I'm cross referencing with the first guide I used for fire red, but I've already followed some of those steps so data is in different places. Luckily when I was getting started with romhacking I setup my folders with multiple redundancy for roms. So I have multiple copies of completely untouched ones. So now I have my clean one side by side with my current version in hex maniac, to compare with.

Like I said its slow, but I think I'll get there.

Yeah making more direct type relations like the light vs dark thing, is interesting to me, because like at that point its, not

Several of the changes are like that actually changing certain things to mess with meta, make things good that were otherwise bad.

I think it would be pretty cool, best case you're unshackled from the typical pokemon choices and can use anyone. If you put in the effort to train them.

Because sometimes the evolved form looks dumb lol, and I'm just gonna say it, sometimes you just wanna use the cute version.

back to the types though, yeah I get what they were going for with the fairy type strengths and weaknesses, trying to weaken dragons (for some reason) and make normal types better, they just went too far.

No prob, and yeah poison is still super effective lol. After I did that fairy lore research I actually liked that part of the type match ups.
What I did was change dragons attacks to not very effective instead of immune, and make them resist physchic and ghost, and finally made them weak to darkness, as well as being super effective to it,(as they already were) we don't see many (any) types that are complete foils for one another so I thought it would be an interesting light vs dark thing.

Oh and I removed the super effective to fighting thing. (that was just harsh)
So summary (with astericks by my changes)
Resist: dragon*, ghost*, fighting, psychic*, bug
Immune:*
Super effective def: Steel Poison Dark*
Super effective atk: Dragon, Dark
normal atk: fighting*

Had a little setback though, my icons weren't perfect as I thought I accidentally replaced an existing icon, so I'm working on that now.
but on the positive side I finally found the trainer flags and found out how to make battles repeatable without having to rely on vs seeker.

Had a few other setbacks, but I'm staying positive.

And for sure on collecting mons. :) I just made my journey thread a little while ago, but I feel like I'm missing things, am I supposed to say what challenge I'm going for now?

I admit I kind of enjoy it. My college is super low maintenance. It feels like high-school without...the stuff that high school is associated with. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed, so it's easy to just hang out. Our campus has been closed 10 months due to covid. Unfortunate.

So about my hack, I was able to add the fairy type, but I did a bit of editing with the type relationships because I didn't like the normal relationships for the fairy type.
And I changed some normal moves to fairy type and adjusted some learn sets. After some play testing it seems really solid. My fairy pokemon are holding up well,
and the game ai is even acting accordingly. I had the rival fight in cerulean and I got surprised by a metal claw from his charmander!

Its not perfect yet, because I later realized I replaced an existing graphic when I added my Icon, so now the game doesn't have a place for it, and I can't fit it in elsewhere.
So I need to figure out how to expand the icon graphics, I need to either make a way to repoint to my custom type icon, or make a new expanded table and repoint there.

Don't know how it'll work yet. But that's a few things done at least.

There were a few personal reasons, but the biggest being that I am a college student, and you know the amount of homework and exams can get overwhelming. I'd start my classes at 7:30 AM, get home by bus at 2:00 PM, homework until about 6:00 PM. It sapped my motivation, and I enjoy using the site for leisure purposes.

I'm happy charlie has grown so huge as a youtuber. It's also cool how he doesn't do much editing for preparation for his videos. I loved Until Dawn. I got almost the entire cast killed, but that was my own stupidity. It's also a short game. Shouldn't take more than 8-10 hours.

Yeah I give high praise for the staff with that. No pretentiousness, they were very welcoming. When I stepped down my biggest thought was "aw no more staff forums". Although they forgot to remove me from the staff only discord so I lurked in that for a couple months. I guess someone finally noticed though.

It's hard to get a read on leafy. He wants his audience to perceive him in a specific way, so his answers aren't honest. They only build the image he wants to be seen as. (if that makes sense). So at first he said he came back because he was bored. Then he said he came back because he needed the money. (but his networth is listed in the millions). He said he left because YouTube wasn't the same anymore with all the new policies. in 2016 he was trying to make himself look like a martyr, uploading all these videos about youtube corruption. As soon as he got banned from YouTube, that same week he moved to twitch and started doing the same thing again. (being chaotic, bullying other streamers) Twitch banned him too. Right now he's back on youtube with a smaller account. Never got into H3H3, although I saw your post about critikal, and he's a pretty good commentary channel.

The overlay is most likely for those who want to go full screen, because it disables the chat. Also when they upload the stream clips to youtube it automatically has the chat without any editing.

I think the best multiplayer games are probably the 2K sports games. If you ever get the chance, the WWE games are hilariously fun if you find another person. It doesn't matter if you've ever watched a WWE show or not. I've tried commentary, but I don't have a mic or set up. I just don't feel like investing in all of that stuff, so I gave it up within a week. Recently I've been into horror and survival games. I just finished Until Dawn, and that was pretty enjoyable.

Out of left field stuff is almost always the funniest stuff.

If I'm ever on reddit I just post and never check for replies.

I'm not that heavy into computer knowledge, so I'm using the simple windows, I mean I use chrome, but just try to make sure I'm never signed into any browser I use.

I not too particular about browsers beyond that point. But I usually use either chrome or edge, but I think edge is using chromium like you say, so I may give firefox another look.

Oh and I use Ccleaner for taking care of most trackers etc, and keeping my device running smoothly, with the latest update I see they've created their own browser, don't know the particulars of its set up or anything but that could be an option, haven't tried it yet though.

and yeah that's why I like there's a good balance here on all fronts.
and I haven't tried other drayano hacks, but you're right blaze black is just great, so I'd be willing to check his other stuff after I finish this one.
I'm upset about that cheron rotation battle after the third gym, though, my god that was a significant difficulty spike lol.
I had my team fully EV trained had most of my moves setup how I wanted, and still got completely destroyed. REPEATEDLY


But that is probably a perfect challenge/benchmark to test your team. I can't imagine anything harder than that fight.
I might see if I can make a script to make that battle repeatable.
Would be a good way to test my other teams I'm bringing up, and I just wanna suffer XD. lol

Thanks for the encouragement, and as far as my motivation... I'm really not sure, probably a little of both I prefer to set goals, and constantly work at them
but not really have set deadlines as that kind of creates innate failure conditions.

Right now I'm doing a lot of research, between just interacting with people here, and playing blaze black and regular fire red.
and if I find something interesting while playing I might open up A-Map and check out the script, see if I can do something with it . (not much success for now, besides that thing with the starters and from that I gained understanding of offsets and repointing)
