it should, just thinking back to playing as a kid i know that i could take my cartridge to a friend's and play on their N64 and all my stuff would be on there. it doesn't have a battery save like the GB games so you shouldn't have to worry about it dying, but from what i read when i dug up some stuff, it saves by flash and if the cartridge is damaged in some way, then it likely won't save anymore.
