I did! Basically gym leaders and E4 have increased level mons with held items and different moves, but the Pokémon options in BW2 are very good with lots of variety so there are enough choices to go through the game with. ^^ I'm actually playing through White 2 on an emulator atm (normal mode) and am having a good time! Sadly challenge/hard mode can only be unlocked by beating Black 2 (specifically this version) since defeating the champion grants you a Challenge Mode key which you can then send to another copy of either B or W2, and play challenge mode through there. Bit of a silly method imo....should let players choose what mode they want to play from the start. Alas.... Maybe I can find some hacks/AR codes that let me start with challenge mode right off the bat, lol. On the other hand, beating White 2 grants you an Easy Mode key. Pah as if we needed that.

Haha aww! I barely seem to have time to draw these days, but that should change when I quit the job soon and stay abroad in Australia and then Cape Town for a few months starting next month. Life is busy as butt atm.

yeah I've heard of Adventure Red! Never played it though. Soo many good fangames to catch up with. Good luck with the walkthrough!!

I never even tried hard mode in BW2! Might go look up some videos out of curiosity before bed now, actually....\o/

And aaaww! Your stories definitely seem like they'd be an interesting read regardless, you're a good writer going by our message exchange so far. :> So hopefully you'll keep pushing through and have something published at some point. Even if you end up mostly keeping it to yourself though, progress is progress! You can do it!!

Wow. Never had that view of contests as a kid, but seems like such a bummer to find out it wasn't what you expected. :< They were really fun though imo! Enjoyed them a lot and spent tons of time with friends mixing berries and pitting our Pokémon against each other. The manga is great on that note, really have to continue where I left off in the Johto saga with Gold.

Well, BW2 had a hard mode, didn't it? After you beat the main story, that is! Never tried it personally but I doubt it was that much harder than the regular playthrough haha. Heard Pokémon were mostly a few levels higher, and some trainers/gym leaders had an extra Pokémon. May have to try that sometime .....

and ya I draw o/ Not comics though, mostly just digital artwork. I have an art thread here on PC, linked in my signature! Gl with your project too.

But yeah the football field part was neat. I'd like to see more of how that'll be in the games! Really do hope you can play these games somehow, sucks you're not able to get a Switch. :< No job or anything at the moment?

hmm, imagine if we do get Perfectionist trainers in the game, and their Pokémon have very good natures, IVs, etc....that would be very fun! I'd support something like that in a hard mode version of Pokémon (since you know they won't put it in regular mode, haha), but it probably wouldn't happen. :<

And yup, agreed. I'm very right side of the brain dominant, so I do better in the arts and writing than maths and sciences, etc. People who can do maths and sciences of any sort for a living get major kudos!

Yes, one of the starters is a bunny. ❤ The other two are pretty interesting too, and I'm excited to see what they'll evolve into. The Switch is a great console though, so I do think you should consider it sometime.

gfx design would be nice, if I can get over being such a perfectionist and not wanting to redo things until they're to my standards haha. But I definitely plan to put my portfolio site back up again when I start job hunting!

He is an astrophysicist working with telescopes in Cape Town \o/ Anyone who has the time and mental energy to get a PhD is so incredible in my book..

And yeah, I definitely don't think Switch is something you should emulate. The experience of playing it is quite enjoyable, and can't be replicated on a computer screen imo. Have you watched the Direct? Lots of exciting news!

Yeah there are, but generally people are nice enough. Still not something I'd want to deal with long term though :s

And goodness that is worrisome! No plans to ever go there, or not anytime soon at least, but it's definitely something I'll research extensively if I ever do go. Glad the bf was contracted in a safer and nicer part of Cape Town...

There will be a Pokémon Direct tomorrow so let's see what will be announced/wether they'll do any revamps. \o/ Probably for Switch though, so I assume you won't be too excited if you don't have your own atm haha.

I work on the administrative side in higher education. Very repetitive and a bit too much customer/student interaction for my liking, lol. The further away from customer service the better!

I honestly hadn't known Johannesburg wasn't that safe. @[email protected] Figured Cape Town would actually be a bit more unsafe if anything, since Johannesburg is always the place I hear about when people mention traveling to SA. But guess it depends on what part of the area too.

And honestly, I just want some nice features to return. Like your Pokémon following you.... Seriously, why did they take a step backwards and remove that from later gens?? ): Got high hopes for a DP remake for the Switch and gen VIII, so hopefully that lives up to expectations!

Gotta keep looking over my shoulder to make sure Big Boss isn't shuffling about.
lol, yes! Luckily on PC I can turn off avatars/signatures/images and change my theme to Vanilla, which makes it hard to tell what website I'm on when at work...

And oh, okay! I assumed you did from the way you were talking. Thanks for the clarification. :3 Interesting to know where you're from! And yeah, the bf is in Cape Town, and the areas he took me around seemed very nice and quite safe. Definitely wouldn't live anywhere in SA long term, but for visiting, sure. Nice mountains!

And aha yeah, only Manhattan is that crowded skyscraper-filled place with tons of cars like you see on TV. Maybe parts of Brooklyn and Queens too, but definitely not all of NYC. The borough I live in has lots of houses and trees. Most people wouldn't ever assume this is NYC if they only have seen it through TV/movies, lol.

What about in the winter months, is that better weather for a place like NYC?
    ugh no
snow can pile up and it always seems like this place isn't prepared for it orz
it also gets quite cold, was about -15c some weeks ago. granted that's colder than usual but still

And ooh, terms and such definitely work different over there then. Super fun learning about different places and cultures!

If you enjoyed HG/SS, you'll like GS. HG/SS graphics + a fresh story back in Johto.
I've been into Pokémon since 1998 and played all the main series games to death so yes, GSC are definitely some of the best ones!!!

oop i am hecka slow at replying, been distracted lately oopss

It does! We have very high humidity in summer months, which is why it becomes so disgustingly hot here in NYC. More so in Manhattan, since it's so congested with people and cars. Really interesting hearing about how things are over there. :> Have you lived in SA your whole life?

As for how many terms, uh, grade school is usually August - May or September - June depending on the school/location here, and it's a full school year. We don't have terms, really, or at least not in public schools. Private ones are run differently and I don't have much knowledge there. In college/uni though, semesters are broken up into the fall and spring semester, as well as winter/summer which are shorter and (usually) optional.

It's thanks to living in the suburbs lol even though this is the 2nd biggest city here, it's not a giant metropolis (...yet?). We can swap for a week :D let's see how we each adjust, but I imagine you won't want to swap back lol it's quite peaceful here, compared to the capital city.
ahah I don't live in the crowded city parts either, the part of NYC I live in has lots of trees/houses. To get to the city, I'd need to take an express bus or regular bus/train and then the ferry. I'd not mind switching for a bit though, but from bf's experience, SA isn't somewhere I'd want to live in long term...

Yeah, some plots are a bit generic, but you're right that it's very interesting to see what fans can come up with! Kinda makes me want to pick the fangames up again. @[email protected]

Aha good to know! Am glad I went there when I did though, I really dislike intense [email protected][email protected] Interesting to know about the school year differences though. Here in the US we typically start the school year in August or September, depending on where in the country you're from.

That is rough, at work they understand if you end up late because of the delays & all?
Luckily I leave early so lateness is hardly an issue, but they're definitely understanding when it happens. Your commute is so short! Man what a dream, sooo lucky.

No fangames on my end! Played several years ago (Shiny Gold, Liquid Crystal, Flora Sky, Brown, Prism) but haven't had the time or energy to try the newer ones because of being so busy. What about you??

Oh hey I was just in South Africa (Cape Town) visiting my bf in early to mid January! Very nice weather, actually not as hot as I expected for summers there...

And how do we deal? We don't haha. Well I guess I have to deal, but it is tiresome to commute in the snow, especially for me who has a 1.5 hour commute already. Subway and bus delays run rampant; all we can do is suck it up and deal. Feels like so much of this city isn't even properly built against this sort of thing @[email protected]

And imo there was plenty of new content in B/W2! Maybe I'm biased since I loved Unova so much, but I found them to be great games. Original was pretty much perfect though imo, that I won't lie about aha.

    ahah yeah!
and aw well....I'm happy having today off since it's snowing quite a bit. :< though unfortunately that means commuting in the piled up snow tomorrow but alas, it is what it is.

Any other changes that you liked?
Being able to use another repel starting from BW2 without going back to the bag was great!! One thing I didn't like was the low HP music though, since I much preferred the actual battle themes. Am itching to go back to my B2 playthrough now, all the motivation's flowing in aha.

for the very first time I actually named him Gino. You can imagine my surprise when I found out he's called Silver, which is Gin in Japanese haha
    that is awesome \o/

Russia! and yes, reusable TMs were one of the best changes Pokémon had made since the main series' inception. Your avatar is great too btw, Silver is one of the most memorable rivals. (b' ')b

doing well =) bit bummed work starts back tomorrow but at least Tuesday is a holiday here, aaaa.

heyo! figured I'd reply here since it's easier for me to keep track of casual conversations through profile messages ^^

I started with RBY in the late 1990s! Moved to the US around 1998 or so, and Pokémon really helped me to learn English. Been addicted ever since and think I've gotten every main series game since then on its release day haha. favorite gens are III and V :> hope you're doing well btw!
