Taking a few days away from the community, time will tell if or when I return.

I wasn't dissatisfied. You mentioned my name after all. I didn't mean to complain. But now my name is all over your post @_@. I was… just reminding.

Well, my football team just won the Scottish Cup by beating our city rivals by 5 goals to one. So I'm hoarse, tired and have skinned shins, but I am VERY cheerful!

The store one is almost certainly not a limiter unless the value of R0 happens to be the limit itself. I'll see if I can confirm which of those are definitive limiters.

Very nice start. As of right now, I know very little about the caveat I previously mentioned. I think it's formatted something like:
    Pointer to Image
    Pointer to Description

Repeat. However, I can't be sure since it's a hard feature to debug to expand upon, but far from impossible.

Why wouldn't I approve of you posting such a thread?

My only request is that you credit myself and NintendoBoyDX (or whatever his tag is), since we worked hard to work out how to do it. However, I have no doubts that you could probably reword it to be a true tutorial, which is vastly better than our research notes.

No, it's possible to increase the number of maps assigned to map 0 in the upper direction as well. The major problem with the addition of map names 0x0 to 0x57 is that they will, by default, get placed on Map 0, because the condition states that any map name below 0x8E (I think) goes on Map 0 - This would include the new map names as well. So the routine does need rewritten to shift them, OR, you could change the limit such that map names 0x0 to 0x57 are on Map 0, with Pallet Town onwards being on Map 1 (or whatever).

    Hope that makes sense.

You're Welcome for the help, btw.

There is one caveat, we missed one set of tables and limiters associated with the map name repoints. On FR's WM, there is functionality that myself and NintendoBoyDX were unaware of at the time we were researching into the map names - When you press A on a secondary Map Location (EG, Viridian Forest), it brings up a description and a picture. We did not account for this in the research.

    It's in bold, yeah?
That means it's specifically for the hack where you're using map names 0x0 to 0x57, as well as the normal extension.

    Okay, I'll try that then.

Thanks for letting me know :-)

Both of the things you gave me are tables of pointers to some form of routine, I think.

Sadly, I don't know an awful lot about how the game gets the WM Flags before you've pressed the "Change Routines" button in A-Map's WM editor.

Looks like that's another thing I can add to the list of to-do's.

About Me

  • About Zilvereyes
I'm Zilvereyes, a Newbie Pokemon hacker, I have spend the last 16 - 17 years around computers (bought my first one at a age of 14), so as you might be able to imagine I have build up a huge amount of experience with computers.

Around the time I bought my first computer, I scavenged computers people had thrown out, and then "burned them to dust" figuring out as much as possible about hardware (especially in the beginning what NOT to do), this lead to me never buying a complete computer again, I buy the parts I NEED and then simply build the "new" computer myself.

I've been coding Add-Ons for several games over the years in LUA (World of Warcraft, Runes of Magic & there might be more memory is a bit fussy)

I have a little experience programming in C++ & C#, but mostly I've been updating source code for hacks to different games (simply fix internal pointers, offsets and that sort) after game updates.

I have during my stay here at PC finally "cracked" ASM, meaning that I've heard of ASM before, just never gotten around to learning anything about it, but now my eyes are open and I can call myself an ASM-Beginner ...LOL ;-)

I never was really into Pokemon back in the day, but my younger brother was, which lead to me knowing about Pokemon and yeah I played a bit on my brothers gameboy (we only had one, and it was my brothers), anyway some years ago I discovered the Emulators and got into it, but then another game made me loose interest. Recently my brother asked me if I wanted to play a little to trade Pokemon and such with each other, and this lead to my renewed interest, and also lead to me discovering the Pokemon hacking scene.

I'll probably mostly be found in the Hacking section (including sub-sections), but you are welcome to contact me if you have anything you want to talk about, but as said I'll mostly be interested in the hacking scene.

Also I'm a dad, I have a lovely daughter who was born in September 2007, her mom and I split up in late 2010, but I have my daughter every other week (actually I have my daughter living with me, she just "visit" her mom every other week).
Learning new programming is and have "always" been my main interest, I simply love "cracking" new stuff (the feeling you get when you've spend a ton of hours, almost tossing the computer out the window in frustration, and then you finally reach the point where you understand how to do it the right way).

I also when I find the time, run on my skates, mostly just to get the rush from burning of a ton of energy, but also as transport when the weather is on my side.
