  • sure you dont have to be active everyday Des. For now we need to get this piece back together. The other teams are doing fine, except for spriters team since most have gone for good. Jonny is still here, writers are all around, and scripters are working hard as well. XD
    Hi Des.
I'm the infamous Speysider on Pkmn HOF.
I remember when I asked HOF to give you a custom title of Resident Defender, since you defended someone.
there's nothing wrong with the spoiler tags. :\
maybe your browser couldn't open spoilers?

my browser sometimes won't open SPOILERs, and I had to refresh the page just to open SPOILERs... :\
Yeah, basically. I didn't know whether anyone would use it, though, since there aren't many hacks with new sprites (and as you said, you can always use unLZ-GBA).
I actually tested a battle sprite inserting function yesterday, by adding all 493 Platinum sprites to a FireRed ROM :P
Unfortunately, I haven't made an interface for it yet, but when I do, I'll put it up. The LZ77 compression is pretty slow, since RGSS is an interpreted language, but it's a hell of a lot faster than manually indexing, then inserting (as well as correcting those awkward shiny schemes - Magnemite, I'm looking at you)...
Yes, they appear normally in-game. It doesn't matter what colour you use for the background, as long as it's not anywhere else on the sprite; the tool automatically replaces it with the icon background colour when it writes it to the ROM. I inserted all the D/P icons using the same method the tool uses, and they show up perfectly. You can even try it out yourself, with appropriately named icons...
Yeah, it will do it automatically. The original image doesn't become indexed, but it lets you insert unindexed sprites.
I haven't really been working on RHXP much lately; I'm breeding some Pokémon for my brother. I'll explain how I index the images anyway:
Basically, I go through each pixel of the icon, and add the pixel's colour to a palette (if it's not in the palette already). Then, it compares the icon's palette with the three possible icon palettes, and selects the one which matches.
When the icon is written to the ROM, I go through each pixel again, and write the index (position) of the pixel's colour in the palette.
I actually forgot what I gave you last time. >.< There is no other complicated version for it, but there is a few codes and such you can try to use. You could try searching CSS codes (for HTML), and just change use it in PC to see if PC has the feature, etc.
    Hi, how's things?
I hope things are going well with Pokemon Hall of Fame?
    Forum okay?
If HoF reports that I'm spamming or mad, report his post.
