I might check yours out sometime! I have enjoyed reading a few fan fics before, I just can't make myself write them. But you should link me, I don't know my way around the Fan Fic boards

Tis indeed XD - No, I've tried to get into it, but I just can't make myself get passionate about it knowing that it's not canon.

lol regardless, I'm guessing there were teachers there

Writing is my ultimate joy too. I am no good at poetry whatsoever, but fiction is definitely my thing. I'm not bad with non-fiction either, I do like a well-written rant. Never mind about the singing, you might be able to write songs instead of sing them. It's no lesser contribution musically or emotionally. It's great that you have passion, and we've officially found our first thing in common

What?! They can make you do that? Surely that has to break some child porn laws... I can't believe that, that's just awful. We at least had boy and girl changing rooms at school. I can't imagine being at an all-one-gender school though, it would either be really good or really bad. Probably a mix of both for the poor gay kids there. Y'know, eye candy vs. intense jock bullying...

I WANT TO BE AN AUTHOR TOO! It's my ultimate dream. I remember watching an interview with JK Rowling once and she said one simple thing that has always stuck with me: "What's better than it?" - I honestly don't know. But I'm hesitant to come up with a back up plan because then it'd feel like I'm willing to accept a backup plan...

That teacher sounds really epic, and really ballsy considering he's the principal's husband and therefore should by all means be all about text books and exams. It's so rare to get a teacher that actually cares, and him, combined with that class, sounds like an experience I definitely want in on. So unbelieveably jealous.

    The haunt was a blast.

We're somehow still the world's top food producer. Probably because using only half the farmland we had in 1950 is more than most of the world, and our farming techniques have advanced significantly.

I'll probably still watch it, but it'll stay right where it is on my watching list for a while yet.

I realized that when I posted, haha. Well, on here, anyway. We had a short conversation about what you were watching over Twitter which sounded oh so very not like the Code Geass I remembered watching. And then there was the Halloween Haunt.

Your growing seasons are also different down there, though it probably stems from an unwillingness to change the scheduling people are accustomed to en masse because the change from an agriculture-centric economy was gradual. That and the hottest months of the year are June, July, and August anyway.

I actually have yet to watch R2, and probably won't watch for a while.

America's school year is built around the growing seasons from when America was mostly agriculturally driven economically. (b'-')b /was stalking Netto

UGH sorry for lateness. I posted this to my VM wall instead of clicking View Conversation first. Gah I hate it when I do that. So absent-minded.
PE was my most hated subject simply because I used to be fat and no good at sports lol (I'm not fat anymore, but my sports skills have not changed) - we only did it once a week but that was enough. I absolutely dreaded it. Plus the whole getting changed in front of people thing isn't ideal when you're fat

Nerds ftw, my friend. We have more doors open to us than any other type of person XD - what do you want to be when you 'grow up'?

Yes, I found languages to be the most rewarding part of going to high school. Learning how to speak, read and write in another language is just so epic. And you're right, it helps to improve your understanding of the English language and the words in it, plus sentence structures, grammar rules. A lot of that began to make more sense when I had to learn about it in French.

Now Classical Studies sounds EPIC. Sort of like a culture class, it sounds wonderful! I wish they'd offered something like that at my school. I wouldn't have been too involved in the drama aspects because I'm shy as hell, but the rest of it sounds like an atmosphere I would have lapped up like a thirsty cat. I'm so jealous.

Wow you guys have an epic school system!

We have to carry English right through to the end of Year 12, and it was my most hated subject having to analyse things, even though I love writing. Basically until the end of Year 10 we have to have English, Maths, Science, History, Geography and PE (ugh) plus three electives. Social Studies sounds more fun than Geography and History combined, I don't know why you'd bother leaving it lol

Then in Year 11 you have to do English but other than that you can choose whatever the hell you want. I graduated like two years ago now but I did French, Maths, Business Studies, Community & Family Studies (basically common sense written down) and Legal Studies, which I dropped at the end of Year 11 due to severe lack of interest. I was the little nerd, so I came first in everything except English

Your subjects sound awesome though! German and Spanish would be heaven. I don't really like German as a language (though you might be right about it, I don't have much frame of reference) but I do love learning languages. French was my favourite subject ever. History is fascinating, but I'd just like to learn what happened, I have no interest in proving it with sources. Tell me and I'll believe you No idea what Classical Studies is, but it sounds very classy.

Oh sweet baby Jesus, even the NZers mock us with this thing we somehow perpetuate

Really? The two accents sound nothing alike! Although to be fair, sometimes TV someone's speaking with an Irish accent and it takes me a little bit to work it out, because somehow it initially sounds American. Don't know how, it just does.

Not a fan of the German language or accent, it's a little harsh for me, but I do like the Canadian. However all the experience I've had with that comes from How I Met Your Mother, so not quite sure how accurate that would be lol.

What grade are you in at school? We don't get to start dropping stuff til the end of Year 11 here. Not that I ever did anything as adventurous as Drama, but still.

i was gonna make a celebration thread but who the hell am i kidding i don't hang with that crowd

So basically, today's my seventeenth birthday and yesterday was my third PC anniversary. This officially makes me a veteran, which feels extraordinarily weird. Being seventeen also feels weird, because sixteen was such a comfortable age. Sixteen suited me just fine. Ah well, to a new year!

Well, it's just over a month away now, but it's still weird to think about it. I've been 16 for almost a year (funny that) and in that time, it's grown to be my identifier. It's such a comfortable age. An even number, a square number and a number which legally entitles me to all sorts of debauchery and increased fares on public transport.

On top of that, it's the year in which I've spent most time on the internet. I've come to love PC quite a bit during my time here, but I've probably...
