Yeah, there are some people who never change their avatar but always change their name, so they're always known by whatever username they pick. I couldn't live like that though .~.~. Whatever sinks their sub. I know, I've been here for a good five months, more or less, and I still get these sporadic noob surges. This is the only forum I frequent with the intention of socializing, so I wonder how welcoming other forums would be in comparison to this one. Not that PC is unwelcoming, I'm just curious.
Uh oh, that doesn't sound good...especially if you're still in school. How long have you had it? I splurged heavily on this MacBook after graduating, I figured I deserved it after years of hard work/putting up with people I can't stand, but there is the teensiest feeling of regret in the back of my mind for spending a thousand dollars on it rather than a few hundred on a cheaper laptop. >_>

Oh I get those quite often. I do enjoy "All Rise for the Honorable Funk," but I feel like it'd be more fit for a mock trial sitcom. I know what you mean :< it's such a bold decision to make, then the whole "who are you? oh you changed your name" drill would probably get old fast.

It's less my computer brain, more I just don't have a mouse or any good programs on this ol' Mac. Trackpads are hard to draw with, though I've made a few of my own avatars before...but in an intentionally messy sort of way. .~. And I don't feel comfortable with letting someone else carry out my ideas, I'm afraid I'd be too picky. I suppose if I ever feel like changing my name, I'll give a shoddy attempt at making an avatar fit for Space Cub...but knowing how stir-crazy I get with avatars, that theme wouldn't last long.

I'm so used to you as Scarf, I can't imagine you with any other name @[email protected], which I imagine is why it's so hard for myself to be ok with the notion of changing my own username, it's like I'm thinking about changing my whole character or something. Galatea is my favorite of the choices, it reflects the elegant/intellectual vibe of your posts. I had to sound out Colophonius Regenschein, then google it...I love the book cover for The City of Dreaming o3o Is "All Rise For The Honorable Funk" a reference to something?

I had Space Cub in mind, y'know, like cub scouts. I imagined a cute b&w picture of a lion cub in an astronaut suit for my avatar, but it's not like I have the technological capacity to be able to create such an image myself. :< Mola Mola was another, after the ocean sunfish...wasn't so sure about it. At one point I had a longer list, but since then my hard drive has committed seppuku and now all I can remember are the two I've listed above. .~.

Glad you've got the beach there, in mid-Texas for someone who shares those issues, there's not really anywhere to turn to. Lol thx, I didn't even think I'd be using this site as often as I do, I'm normally not an "interwebs" person. But my decline in irl social life led me to become a member of this online community, which is working out fine, and I somehow feel no real desire to change my name. I've had a couple in mind, last time I attempted I got all hesitant and deleted my request immediately. Such a big step, I felt like a runaway bride or something. Care to pitch your ideas so far?

Goodness, lots of allergies...has it been a huge burden to you, or have you managed quite, I guess, normally? Scarf is a great username choice (unlike poopnoodle, which isn't exactly inviting)...it's a nice word, to-the-point, and that "f" at the end gives it a sort of breeziness that doesn't make it such a sharp word. Plus, scarves are just pretty.

That is exactly. My life. And while neighbors are busy not associating with you, they're talking about how you don't keep your lawn in the same shape theirs is in. 9n9
Yap, they make for really average scenic photos. Though they're lovely to lie in.
I'm an avid tree-climber, the only thing that gets me are when there are tiny bugs all over the bark, I'm afraid to squish them, I hate when they're on the perfect climbing tree.

Well, I do at least...I grew up watching Conan on Late Night. Most show business occurs in New York, that's actually where Conan originally was and now he's in LA and all this controversy is going down because NBC's late-night comedy line-up has been struggling with the ratings but they've only given Conan seven months and there has been an overwhelming majority vote in the polls wanting Conan to stay and and and >:0 I could rant forever. I'll stop there.
Nature is why I prefer the countryside to the suburbs (I actually prefer everything to the suburbs), we had this beautiful creek next to our first house and so many trees to climb, lots of bugs and reptiles to catch, the occasional armadillo...lots of coyotes at night, though. We don't have anything real eye-catching (aside from bluebonnets), like the redwood forests and tide pools you mentioned, but enough nature to keep me appreciating certain parts of Texas.

Sounds like there is a lot to love there o3o /jealous (*skims Emperor Norton article on Wiki* What a loon, and wow @ him being depicted by one of the characters in Huck Finn, I had no idea. o3o) I've heard great things about LA food, I bet it's real expensive. I'm bound to visit there someday if Conan O'Brien sticks around. I've been dying to see one of his shows live (not that it'd be much different from seeing it on the tube). It'd be so marvelous to just live in a place surrounded by history and culture and all types of stuff you could just walk out of the house and revel in. Where I live now is certainly not suiting my wishes e_e, and I feel more like an apple seed that's being chilled in the fridge awaiting to be planted in a garden with a variety of plants, and perhaps other apple seeds just like me. ;c

Wow, so you've been all over the place. Was there anything particularly exciting in any of those places that stands out in your mind? I think I've heard of the Winchester Mystery House on the Travel Channel or something, *googles* it looks very interesting =and it's a pretty house o3o=, I'd love to visit a place like that.

Not much I know of, really. The Alamo. Large fields of brown grass. :I

That's as far as I've gone, we live in pretty big states though so I think it counts. A road trip is a trip on the road, amirite? Guess we make those about every day. I've taken one to the border of Mexico and a couple the gulf and San Antonio and stuff like that. I guess the shortest one I've gone on was to San Antonio, which took about four hours to get to. Where all have you gone?

That's kind of been my lifestyle growing up, just upping and leaving, though everywhere I go seems to be slightly more or less the same as the next place. Really the only thing that's keeping me here is one of my friends who I plan to roommate with when she is financially secure enough to be on her own. True true, spring break...tbh I'll probably head towards old stomping grounds myself. In February I'm planning a road trip that may or may not happen with another friend, maybe that'll be enough fuel to keep me going here without having a mental breakdown.

;3; I WILL! *puts on list of things to do that will likely never get conquered* I've seriously got to get out though, I want to wait til after college but I can't tell if that's another excuse setting me back or if it's just the best idea. I can just see myself graduating college and saying, "k after I get fired from my job." =3=

This encourages me to abandon the small town life, which can only be a good thing. We've only got average supermarkets and fast-food restaurants, I'd have to go out of my way to buy different things that would satisfy my diet. But I dono, maybe I just haven't explored my surroundings enough.

Pacific Rim is really, truly, getting a sequel and it's going to star John Boyega. This is my jam. This is my peanut butter and jam. Two great tastes that taste great together. I can't wait. I want it now. I want it yesterday. I don't care that it's a sequel in a long line of disappointing sequels. This movie deserves a sequel and it will be magnificent and I will be there on opening day.

Some days you're the statue. Statue day today. Lots of disappointments, plans being made, cancelled, new plans being made, those being cancelled, too, and ending up somehow not doing anything I wanted to do and doing a lot of things I didn't care for. All to accommodate other people.

It's not exactly like it sounds though. Like, I'm not the doormat I used to be. It's not that I was being taken advantage of. Sometimes I think I'm a little bit of a sociopath in that I can be really...

First, I'm sorry for the sudden disappearance. It was uncool of me to leave for so long without explanation. If that left someone with a bad taste in their mouth then, again, I'm sorry. I've got my reasons though.

Last year both of my grandmothers died, one rather suddenly and the other who everyone was surprised to see still alive and kicking for as long as she had, both within the space of a month. It made me sad and made me think. I thought a lot about what I was doing with my life...

Don't read if you haven't seen it yet. Okay, well, read a little, but not too much. Spoilers and all that.

As you know, Doctor Who is celebrating its 50th anniversary and there has been quite a bit of new material released related to it, not the least of which is the special starring both Matt Smith and David Tennant. Saw that. I have things I could say about it and will, but I want to talk first about An Adventure in Space and Time.

This is the docudrama about the creation...
