Most teams don't have three leftovers, unless of course they're going for a stall. In which the leftovers complete the team perfectly. My favorite team has two damp rocks, three life orbs, and a leftovers. Why so many life orbs? Because each pokemon requires them for a perfect sweep.
But, I respect your POV, and, although I wouldn't play that way anymore, can't fully argue against it.
If you're willing to battle a team with 3 exceptions to the 1 item limit, would you like to battle?
"yep i did. 5x leftovers is lame btw. that's why i use 1 item limit."
I just happened to spot this, and want to share my input with you.
I used to use one item limit, but that was only for a nintendo event where there were only 4 pokemon to a team.
Since we have 6 pokemon to a team w/ no hax items, it's kinda hard not to at least double use at least one item, if you catch my drift.
5 is lame you say but I have 3 so that isn't lame, you can't change the amount of deals. And I win the fight, adds my count of winning. And plus, don't expect me to battle you anymore.
