Ash is nothing but ruined and not motivated anymore unless if he eats ice cream. That stuff is now like a drug to him.

In fact, that city in the preview doesn't even look like it belongs in Alola.
City? Preview? I thought there wasn't any animation for the teaser?

But yeah, agreed, Ash definitely seems to have been ruined, and all because the writers were too stupid to have him win the Kalos league or even get a consolation prize of observing the development of a league in Alola. And probably the only indication of why Ash may still be 10 (due to Ash getting revived by Ho-Oh and presumably being made immortal) is in a movie that may not even be canon at all, and certainly not canon to the series prior to SM.

Remember how I indicated that the movie may not have a teaser from what I gathered of the review from Pokebeach? Well, apparently it actually has a teaser. Sort of. It doesn't have any animation even pointing to what the plot of the film will be (in fact, it doesn't even have ANY animation at all), just a sign saying there will be a new movie Summer 2018. Quite frankly, I'm thinking they really shouldn't have bothered with that, especially after they wasted Marshadow by having it debut in this film (and make it grossly OOC from even its manga tie-in, let alone what was described of it in its Pokedex entry), and also not even bothering to animate the dang teaser anyways. When you don't even bother to animate a teaser, there's little point to even making the film since they clearly aren't looking forward to it. Besides, aside from wasting Marshadow, there are other factors to come into play as well. Namely, there's the fact that they haven't either announced an eighth generation (not to mention they stopped doing teasers for new generations early into a generation after Destiny Deoxys and Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. IF they bother teasing it, they generally wait until the final movie of a generation at LEAST), nor has Ash even progressed very far into his Alola journey, either, and there's little indication that he's even going to go much further this time next year either. Especially not with the way SM is going by killing off any chance at Ash continuing with his goal and how they ruined him.

The last tthing was that I rembered that old Poke Pelago Glitch was a thing.

Honestly I think the E4 would be ok if they did something like give you the ootion to set their pokemon's level higher or maybe even a new exp item that outclasses the lucky egg so that if you have to grind through them it won't take forever at least.

Good luck on the grind if nothing else works.

There's another way to get any 5 star facility thatbyoubwant but involves playing a game of luck with soft resetting. That sounds awful....I wonder why it doesn't work?

I can only think of one more way to get mons to 100 without having to deal with the E4 but its not as quick as the Plaza.

Yes, and it is an absolute chore because I have to do constant Elite Four rematches! Whoever at Game Freak came up with the idea of bringing back 5th Gen EXP should have been dumped.
Hello. I didn't want to go off topic on the thread so I'll just reply here if thats good...

Festival Plaza can actually be helpful for this have you heard of the 5 star Rare Kitchen trick? You can instantly level up a pokemon from Lv. 66 to 100.

I think the fact we haven't even had a preview for the next movie released may be further adding to my speculation that M20 may be the last Pokemon movie, even if it doesn't hit that dreaded third strike.
Yeah, no kidding, and it won't be too much of a stretch that the anime will follow suit regarding the death of the anime franchise, especially given it's very poor ratings. Such a shame Pokémon has to go out like this. The rot started ultimately when they decided to remove Misty, and we're seeing the results right now, unfortunately.

I know Serena's anime counterpart is popular, likely because she's not as bland as her game counterpart. AmourShipping was without a doubt the most popular following for the XY series, and hence why it attracts a lot of fanart. But let's face it, as Lillie and Mimikyu have shown, if you botch up a well-loved character in the anime, they will become unpopular. Heck, M20 is even portraying Marshadow as a villain which heavily contradicts its description. I guess the only reason it was done was because of its shadow-based powers.
Well, can't speak for Serena or Amourshipping's popularity, since I heard otherwise (namely, at a Doushinji convention in Japan a couple years back, Amourshipping wasn't really getting any sales, while Pokeshipping and Contestshipping were still selling like hotcakes. I learned that on Tumblr), and I've seen a few complaints about Serena's character. But yeah, agreed with you on how Lillie and Mimikyu were badly handled. That was just bad, and actually pointless as well. I could understand how, say, Drifloon would be portrayed differently, since the anime is ultimately geared towards children, and I don't think kids would like to see a Pokémon drag kids to hell. But this kind of crap? No. Shouldn't be done. And Marshadow reminds me: Not only did they do a disservice to Marshadow in terms of its description from the Pokedex, they even proceeded to have it completely conflict with its role in one of the tie-in manga, where it was an actual good guy, helping Ken become a stronger trainer and even being a bit of a mentor to him. Going against the game is one thing, but going against something that was supposed to tie it in to the movie?

I don't hate Lillie in the anime, in fact she's only thing I can even stomach in the Sun & Moon anime, but rewriting her entire backstory like that has made her into nothing but a tragic heroine. Lillie was a very popular character in the Sun & Moon games, and the fact she's now split into a completely different character in the anime has hurt her popularity. Even Gladion has been portrayed badly as well. Trial Captains were also botched up, with Ilima's absence basically confirming that Trial Captains don't exist in the anime. Heck, even Ash didn't complete the second trial, but Lana did instead. All because it was focused on her type which was Water.
Can't comment on whether Lillie's tolerable or not, but rewriting her backstory like that is definitely a disservice to her character. In the game, she WAS a tragic heroine who fled because her mom went completely nuts over the Ultra Beasts. None of that was even present in the anime. And honestly, if what you say is true and they even botched Trial Captains, the closest the game has to actual Gym Leaders, then we're in really deep crap right now, especially the anime.

I also love Mimikyu. I don't want to be forced to hate it.
Never having played the games after DP due to my being on boycott thanks to the writers' idiocy regarding Misty, I can't say one way or another about Mimikyu. I do know this, though, making them even more of a villain than the games implied is much worse.

Face it, I knew school-based plots in Pokemon would fail. It works if it's only for a small arc of episodes (just look at the summer academy arcs from DP and XY) but for the entire saga? Nope, it's not going to be executed well. The fact that Ash is even going to school doesn't make sense, since he learns from his adventures, and it makes me feel this school thing was written in as an excuse because of Alola lacking Gyms and also as an excuse to turn Ash into a retard again, hence reminding me horribly of BW.
Yeah, no kidding, and at this point, I'd argue SM is even WORSE than BW. At least BW attempted to actually focus on Ash's league goal (not to mention ultimately had a better grasp at continuity even if the way they did it was terribly done). Quite frankly, I don't care if Ash winning the league means the show is over, they should have had him win Kalos, especially when the lack of a league in SM (especially the anime: The games at least compensated by having you form your own league). Or if they REALLY had to have him lose, they should have tied it in by having someone recruit Ash regarding helping in the development of a Pokémon League. That would have been better than what we got right now.

However, BW handled Ash's persona much better because at least he wasn't being super-overexcited at everything. Sure, he battled like a noob and made dumb mistakes like relying solely on Palpitoad against Elesa, but at least he wasn't hypo all the time. SM does keep his battling experience, but the lack of battles means we are exposed to his goofball nature even more, and that's why I feel his personality is at the worst it's ever been.
Yeah, no kidding. And let's not forget that his first meeting with Iris had him mistaking her for an Axew. An AXEW, which even a quick glance between the two would have someone telling the difference easily (an AXEW is about Pikachu's height, while Iris is much taller). And yeah, at least BW Ash still manages to battle, while Ash in SM barely even gets THAT.

Ash doesn't even care about his Alola classmates, unlike the previous groups which had that family-like bond, demonstrated the most with the XY companions (heck, the YouTuber named PokemonRangerBoy12 brings it up here). Ash now only does stuff with the Alola group if Mallow inspires him. In fact, Ash won't even be motivated to train anymore unless if he's given ice-cream, like he's got a horrifying addiction to that stuff.
Wait, you mean like how Maron ditched Krillin despite having undying love for him? And yeah, I see what you mean. I'm not particularly fond of the group dynamics after the OS from what little I've seen or heard of them,, but even they at least BONDED to some extent.

Unfortunately I don't understand The Emperor's New School since I never watched it, but from what you bring up about that show, it definitely looks like a terrible show. It doesn't help that SM relies way too much on forced comedy and cringy, over-the-top facial expressions, which is pretty much what also plagues shows like Teen Titans Go! and the 2016 remakes of Ben 10 and The Powerpuff Girls. These are all reboots of once-loved cartoons that are now fuelled on jokes, solely to please kids with short attention spans. I do not like that format at all, because I know what bad comedy is. If a joke is bad, I will not laugh at it.
I'll provide some links to Emperor's New School:

And you can probably watch the episodes online if you know where to look.

And yeah, a lot of the comedy right now is a bit cringeworthy. Like Zootopia. I found the whole gag involving the sloth DMV scene in the trailer to be downright painful to watch. I know people are trying to market little kids, but they could at least throw in a few parental bonuses to allow the adults to enjoy the experience and make them taking the kids to movies seem like a total chore for them.

It's like the Japanese audience cares way too much about laughs to the point that future Pokemon anime sagas will become even less serious. I want cartoons to have great plots and characters, not a cringefest of jokes that I will find extremely unfunny.
Me too. That being said, though, right now, Dragon Ball Super's not much better right now, and it's less due to cringeworthy comedy as much that the show has gotten pointlessly dark (long story short, right now thanks to Goku reminding Zen-Oh about the new tournament he had promised earlier, various universes are going to fight for their survival and any who lose are erased on the spot, with Zen-Oh basically acting like a punk kid who revels in torturing animals throughout). It's almost as though the writers in Japan right now are utterly failing to find any sense of balance in things (not that I particularly care about balance myself, but...).

Figured I should take the discussion to here so that Kostas doesn't get rage-fested into shutting down another thread considering what happened with that alternate universe discussion getting shut down due to arguments and disrespect of opinions.
No kidding there. And I tried to be as respectful as possible and staying on topic more importantly. Well, at least I don't have to deal with Alexander18 on that front, don't like that he called me a liar despite my citing stuff that actually occurred on the show.

I guess the people in the English-speaking countries aren't the only ones furious at the decisions made with M20. As soon as Makoto and Souji were introduced, I had bad feelings forecast and that was correctly predicted. We knew that basically the whole world ranted at the poor decision that was making Alain win the Kalos League, especially when the announcement of the Sun & Moon saga came out and now that we notice that XY's transition to SM is way more jarring than the transition from DP to BW. The Kalos League all but confirmed Alain as an invincible Gary Stu and thus he's now up there with my most hated characters in the anime. He had potential but blew it, all because he had to be portrayed as a god.
Yeah, don't remind me about their screwing up Alain and especially their screwing over Ash. Especially when they didn't even have a reason to go through with the status quo thanks to SM basically omitting the concepts of a gym and a league. And what's worse is that, even with all of that, I could have at least settled for Ash being nominated as runner up to go to Alola and try to oversee the creation of a new Pokémon League there, like in the games. Instead, we've got school stuff. And I don't blame anyone for thinking SM is an AU, due to the really poor transition between XY and SM (as bad as DP and BW's transition was, even THAT at least had Giovanni calling in TR as a subtle transition to the latter), and Movie 20's complete screw up doesn't help either.

The fact that M20 turned out with the plot it has now was done solely due to pressure from TPCi to make it into a movie tailored specifically for the youngest demographic, on top of Makoto and Souji basically existing as promotion for Piplup and Lucario merchandise shows that while the writers intended for something else, TPCi unfortunately blocked that idea. I know the latest generation of the target demographic was born around probably when the BW series started, which in turn was 8 years after OS ended so you can see why the writers were essentially forced to create that retelling of Ash and Pikachu's beginning. It was made solely to show that generation of kids how they met.
What makes very little sense about TCPi's decision there is that even the youngest demographic has at the very least heard of Misty and Brock, if not desired for their return, considering a lot of them managed to vote for them in that Japanese poll (a little under half, as a matter of fact, who voted in that poll were 10-19 year olds), so it's not like bringing Misty and Brock back would somehow harm that demographic. In fact, Brock and Misty got first place and third place, respectively (Serena got second place), and the poll was who they wished to see return to the cast. Heck, Misty figurines were released last year (and I'd know, I got one, and even added in an exception to the boycott to exempt any Misty-related products partially for this reason, the other being that I feared my global boycott may have in fact killed the anime), and besides which, she's even part of a line of gachapon figurines that's due to be released in September (would have gotten one of her, but by the time I found it, the preorders had already sold out, thus forcing me to wait until the release date to get them via ebay). And besides, why promote Piplup and Lucario? This dealt with Kanto anyways, not Sinnoh. And even under the pretense of showing that generation of kids how they met, they could have at least put Misty and Brock in, since that generation of kids have at least heard of them.

Also, XY was definitely the worst era in terms of episode ratings and movies, though that was partially blamed on Yo-Kai Watch's emergence early in XY's run, on top of the first two Yo-Kai movies outperforming, the second film made more money in Japanese cinemas than Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was the biggest film of 2015.
Yeah, no kidding. Though give SM enough time, considering the direction the show is going in, I suspect the series will surpass XY regarding terrible ratings soon enough. And, eh, never was fond of The Force Awakens, anyways, or as I call it, "A New Hope remake", so having Yokai-Watch win over it means little to me even if it did make big cash.

With both the failures of Hoopa And The Clash Of Ages and Volcanion And The Mechanical Marvel, it's fair to say Pokemon - I Choose You!'s performance will determine if the third strike has fallen. If that predicted bomb happens, it's fair to say that Pokemon should quit movies altogether because they have become way too merchandise-driven, and that means rushed and terribly-handled plots.
Yeah, and in particular, it needs to make more money than the two combined to avert a third strike (and I have little confidence that it will, due to the Twitter backlash as mentioned earlier or how Japanese critics are deriding it as a cash grab.). Of course, even if it doesn't make the third strike, there's definitely going to be a LOT of difficulty making the next movie at the very least thanks in large part to their debuting Marshadow early, meaning they really don't have anything to work with after this (remember, since the Jirachi Movie, they've generally used the films to distribute any mythical Pokémon. Even Melodia, the one mythical Pokémon that wasn't the focus of a movie, nonetheless got a distribution in some versions of the movie despite lacking a role there. There were only two Myth Pokémon released for Generation VII: Magearna, and Marshadow, and the former was already the subject of a distribution with the Volcanion movie.). And from the looks of it, we don't even have any intel of a new generation being made either, which would at least suffice in a new movie if Destiny Deoxys and most of the AG movies are anything to go by, that and the Zoaroak movie. And if the comments on Pokebeach's review of the film are to be believed, they haven't even released a teaser for the next movie, which they usually do with movie releases. Though, to be fair, the movie debuted in France as a special showing, so I'll probably wait until the actual Japanese release before we make any judgment on that front.

Hi, I'm Hikamaru! But you can call me Nichole (yes that is my name, it's not a typo!). I'm a 20 something-year-old from Sydney, all the way down in Australia. I've been here for quite a long time now and I don't ever plan to leave anytime soon. I love cute stuff, anime, music, humour, stalking the heck out of profiles and of course Pokemon. Most of my fave Pokemon tend to be from newer generations but I still have a fair share of fave old Pokemon too.

So yeah, they call me that Oshawott Fangirl because I simply adore Oshawott and his evolution line. My fave Pokemon ever, and he'll always be my fave no matter how many generations pass by. I always love meeting new members here at PC so don't hesitate to leave me a visitor message anytime, I don't bite!

British PM David Cameron has announced he will be stepping down by October, and that makes me believe the...
