    Hey there! How are you?

And a question, why is your name in red?

I think for LC, we stuck it inside the level script that's run in the player's bedroom only on game start. It's easily possible to do such things.

Hi Hiroshi, can you PM me about how is it about beign an admin?

Well it's not too annoying if you have single based instruments. Multi's and drums however, they take time. Just as long as you have frequency and loop points, I don't see why it could go wrong. Also, certain songs have this thing called "modulation" which is an error that is transferred from the DS to the MIDI. Example of modulation:
To remove it, search in your .S file for MOD. Change the number after it to zero. Keep doing that till it's done. Result:
This is currently the ONLY way to move from DS to GBA, but it just takes time and patience.

Hacking you mean? Well if it is, I wrote a tutorial here:

I'm aware they aren't cleared, but finding the right place to put such code is, currently, just something I can't be bothered doing. I have some ASM floating about somewhere that clears it.
  10. Jambo51
    August 10th, 2013 11:44 AM
I was (implicitly) offering to write such code for you...
  11. Jambo51
    August 10th, 2013 8:57 AM
Well, it'd be easy to build an ASM wrapper which would take 2 indices (one for the Pokémon, the other for IV number) and return that IV's value to lastresult, or whatever var you want, and you could do the comparisons in scripts.

Surely that'd be easier for you given the circumstances?
  12. Jambo51
    August 10th, 2013 8:28 AM
Yes, the IV getter would simply rely on 0x3FBE8. It wouldn't be hard to write a piece of ASM that acts as a wrapper and takes in the pokémon's index and which index you wanted to use to pass it back to the scripting variable. Although, I'm sure you'd guessed that.

Just FYI, the trainer facing fix is my code XD. I just couldn't be bothered to write up a tutorial at the time, so I let NarutoActor write one up.

As to those berries, I don't see why I couldn't add that behaviour. I've done far more complex things than that before, after all!
  14. Jambo51
    August 10th, 2013 8:05 AM
The player doesn't face the trainer when initiating a battle.
Okay, I'll be honest: I started the thread mostly because I need some insight into this issue. FR/LG imitates RBY, where the player doesn't look at the trainer before the battle starts. The trainer has been facing the NPC since the Gold/Silver days, and it's still like this.

I have fixed this, and there is a tutorial available

Speaking of initiating battles, the music when a trainer approaches is limited to three tracks - recent games have about 11, or 12, where an appropriate trainer theme plays for them (e.g. Ace Trainers, Youngsters, Miniskirts, Twins…) Darthatron and I took a bit of time to research it and we thought the music table was at 0x47A2D2, but changing it has no effect.

I have also fixed this, tutorial is available.

    The item sound.
That Level Up sound is inappropriate for getting items - since Gold/Silver we've had the new Item Get fanfare . Is it also possible to implement the TM Get fanfare when a player receives a TM, and the Berry Get fanfare when the player finds a Berry?

I have also fixed this, but I've not put any sort of tutorial about it up. It's fairly simple, just scripting of some sort. I can't remember precisely.

Pokémon Ability behaviours in the field.
Implementing this would be tough. It basically improves Pickup, and abilities like Arena Trap increase the chance of encountering Pokémon. Oh, and items like Light Ball and Magma Armor have breeding effects, but that's going to be absolutely horrible to implement.

You'd be surprised, many of the abilities already work in the field. Magma Armour doesn't, but HackMew's already fixed that. I'm unsure if Arena Trap's effect works, but it wouldn't be hard to implement, I wouldn't think.

We really need a definitive list of what does and doesn't work to be able to implement them.

    An IV checker character.
    There's one in Emerald!

I've added the "characteristics" to the 649 Patch, which is kind of an IV checker. Regardless, this is incredibly easy to do with some ASM knowledge.

    Battle Tower?
It's a de facto element of the Pokémon games since Ruby/Sapphire, and we don't have it. Would it be excessively hard to tap into the bank of trainers in the Trainer Tower, for instance? Would it be possible to implement more?

Certainly possible, although I personally have no interest in replicating this on Fire Red.

    Updated Berry behaviours.
We've seen it in Emerald, but obviously it's much more difficult (in that it requires programming) to implement.

Such as? What differences are there?

    Mach Bike or Acro Bike
Recent games (HG/SS) have at least the behaviour of the Mach Bike, but should we implement anything like that for FR/LG? The default bike is clumsy and still tries to imitate R/B/Y.

Could port the behaviour of the mach bike very easily, I should think. The acro bike is pretty much a no go without a lot of work however.

    Answers in bold.

    Quick Self-Introduction
PokéCommunity Lead Designer and human being. I eat members. Views are my own.
I'm the type of person who codes web pages and designs layouts, and enjoy anime, mostly of school life / comedy. And I'd call myself a pretty good gamer, but I'm not the FPS type (which I regularly play nowadays).

I'm also the kind of person who enjoys tech gear, so I read up on various technology news sites. I also have a penchant for reading, to the point that sloppy writing makes me cringe, even if I don't mention it, but I admit that I have a reading deficiency when it comes to novels - simply because I haven't the time to read them. Reading long paragraphs about the development of the Wii (and the Wii U and 3DS) is probably more a hobby for me, though.

I'm staunchly against anti-consumer practices in technology. I'm vehement against strict, pointless DRM as per used on Nintendo devices.
Pokémon, anime, video gaming, Nintendo games in general, drawing, ROM hacking, and… not much else.
