    Nah don't worry it just gets better. It certainly has the potential to surpass those two, but I think that mostly rests on Serena's character arc because AG and DP were heavily focused on May and Dawn's growth. Paul was around in DP, yeah, but we can't yet compare his role.

    more like perfect :P I was looking around in the emblem archive because upcoming events when i remembered that i could give those out
    i forget sometimes

    XY is a vast improvement on BW, but is still too young to fully compare to seasons past. It has begun with stunning animation, consistently engaging plotlines, and pretty solid characters who have a lot of room for development despite that. The main thing people are really being sold on is that Ash is not a nooblord and the animation is fantastic across the board. So, it's promising and striking out as a great saga. But it's gotta prove itself before I'm willing to say it can overtake Hoenn and Sinnoh in terms of overarching story and development.

    Oh, I actually learned MIPS in college, though I'm pretty sure other professors taught ARM. It was the first time I did low-level programming and it was so much fun, but I haven't touched it since.

    And that sounds great; I started a challenge in LeafGreen on an emulator, and I need to keep the volume low because the music just doesn't sound so great at high volume. I don't mind it that much, it gives off a really cool vibe actually, but it's weird hearing 8-bit music coming out of my laptop {XD}

    Wait, I thought it was a Pokemon hack? It actually sounds interesting. But I'm curious on how much can you change from the original game? Like can you add entirely new features, and not just adding, for example in Pokemon, new attacks, abilities, Pokemon and changing their locations in the wild?

    For some reason, I never tried out ROM hacking. I guess it's because, like I said, I don't code much at home, but also because I don't really have any ideas for it. Well, I do, but where to start, you know? What was the hack you worked on about?

    Java would be my favorite, since it's the language I've used the most and it's cross-platform, meaning that the same code can run on Microsoft Windows, OS X, Android etc. That's probably the reason why, while I love HTML/CSS/JS, I don't see myself becoming a professional web designer, since you're very unlikely to have your pages look the same in different browsers that use different layout engines (like Chrome uses WebKit, while Firefox uses Gecko). I actually have a great deal of respect for web designers, I don't think they get enough credit for what they do. Though I admit that I haven't been up to date with the newest version; I've heard browsers are a lot more standards-compliant nowadays.

    I actually don't have any experience with the newest upcoming languages, like Ruby or Python; they're very popular with the open-source people, but companies are still a bit reluctant to use them in production. And since I don't code much at home -- 8+ hours a day is enough, thank you very much -- I didn't get the chance to try them out yet.

    I refuse to use anything I can't source anymore haha.
    I used GIMP! Because I don't have anything else. But it was hard and it's hard to make them well in that and I can't remember how anymore anyway.

    Yeah, we were thought some basic algorithms and data structures. We studied Pascal, a '70s programming language that nobody uses anymore, but the truth is it was specifically created to teach programming to students, so it was really easy to learn.

    You're welcome! I hope you won't start to dislike programming after you start college, but I get what you're saying. Thing is, there are many subfields and sub-subfields, so you're bound to find something you'll really like eventually. And college actually does a good job at giving you a preview of most of them. Right now you're into client side web dev (HTML, CSS and JS mostly), but who knows where you'll end up, you know?

    I store reaction gifs and images from tumblr because the people who make them do so for the purpose of them being used and that's the easiest way to use them. but like actual nice pretty gifs and stuff I use I am careful to source.

    i made some gifs once. they weren't very good but they weren't horrendous so.

    Thanks!

    Hehe, the first part of that has a nice ring to it, I hope they're not just sugarcoating it. But like I said, stuff can get really interesting and while you might not use Abelian groups on a daily basis -- I'm not even sure what an Abelian group is anymore--, you'll develop a more logical way of thinking, and that will definitely help your ability to learn new things easier. And well, if you know the basics of programming, data structures and algorithms, new languages are easy to pick up.

    Well, my story is kind of boring; I was good with maths as a kid, so I chose enroll in the intensive mathematics and programming class in high school. That was my first contact with programming, and I've loved it since the very beginning. That was 8 years ago. Man, I feel old now {XD}

    Oh that sounds like fun. It's good that you're looking forward to it! A lot of people start out with HTML and CSS actually, especially if they didn't take any programming classes during high-school.

    Have you checked their curriculum though? Because I know many colleges teach very little coding, and focus a lot on theoretical studies. Algorithms and data structures, formal specification, computability and complexity, probability theory, statistics, algebra, geometry, etc. It can be incredibly interesting if you're into that sort of stuff, and even the basics help a lot to develop a more analytic mindset. As a professional programmer though, you'll also need to be fluent in a couple of languages, and more importantly be able to pick up new ones very fast, and that's something they don't really teach in school, so you'll need to work hard by yourself too.

    Actually, they may offer elective courses that are more specialized on coding, so definitely check those out, and be on the lookout for career fairs too ;)
