EV training is very easy to teach ya (no computer barriers, lol). Here's resources I've used:

EV guide in 4th gen (it's a little rusty but it helped me with the math back in the day)
List of Pokemon and their Effort Value yield
EV Training Hotspots in Diamond Pearl

As for tricks... You can hunt in areas where wild Pokemon give you multiple EV categories you desire, such as Attack and Speed (Bidoof and Starly, found together in some routes). You can also find some ideal trainer locations (Cowgirl Shelly with all the Bidoof is just south from Solaceon).

If you're rich enough, you can use vitamins on Pokemon that haven't gained EVs yet. You can also slap on Pokerus and/or Macho Brace / Power Items to accelerate the EV training process. Pokemon holding exp share also gain the EV (so you can train a second Pokemon). If you just bred something and you want to immediately EV train it, I suggest getting the baby to level 20+ (by being alone in daycare or throw it at a strong enemy trainer, lol). That way, the baby can fight on its own. EV training is slow if you have to constantly switch out because the baby can't beat up Starly or whatever, haha.

You can keep track of the numbers and math using Serebii's calculator . Or, you can send your Pokemon to Pokecheck to see if you finished training it correctly.

@natures: If you wanna look up the nature a Pokemon highly benefits from, browse Smogon movesets.

Hope any of this helps. If I need to clarify something, let me know.

What's up? Any progress? Sorry I wasn't around much today.

You could do capture abuse, which is easier to do than hatching abuse.
