Thanks!

Had dinner with work friends yesterday, which was nice. Having another event with another group in two weeks time too (as they have exams to contend with around now with uni).

I'm planning too... Well, I've started off with simple sketches for requests again using the India ink pens. They look good, but have a weird sketchy quality to them the way I use them... IDK, I guess I'm just too used to chisel-tipped calligraphy pens still is all...

Yeah, my work's suddenly been holding steady during a time my family is usually struggling to pay bills. It's good because I'm pulling almost a grand a week again (not always, but pretty close). But, construction-based work always pays more than your typical desk job (well, I install flooring, but it's still hard labor even for small jobs).

Yeah, some of my older pics have been completely ruined due to inexplicable water damage. Also, I noticed occasional smudging using markers to color before. These ones seem a little better suited for actual drawing, since my other ones are calligraphy pens meant for writing instead. Not that there's a huge difference...

Heh, I don't really have much of a social life honestly, but I do get a little irritated when I don't have time for anything other than work. You know, I live out in a predominantly rural area, so I've been walking out in the woods and stuff when I've gotten the chance over the past summer... I used to before when I was out camping, but haven't had the time to dedicate to walking the past year or two since my family stopped because of my late-grandma's health problems. Additionally, I've been trying to get back into gaming and writing too, along with drawing, but once again, I haven't had time for any of them really... :/ I like my work because it's extremely productive in real life, but I don't like it when everyone suddenly wants everything done in the same timeframe...

Yeah, I don't like just tossing things out unless they're really bad and/or completely unusable. Coincidentally, those India-ink pens work great, but I feel bad because I don't want to waste them on trivial stuff and I still want to use my calligraphy ones too (even though they're not waterproof).

Sorry for the belated response... I haven't had a lot of time for internet stuff given how much I've been working lately and having to clear out my late-grandma's house while also reorganizing my own living arrangements atm (i.e. still with my parents and not planning on moving out for the foreseeable future like how my sister up and left). I was going to become active again here too like I've been on FA, but I don't know if I'll be able to given the current trend for things...

People do it, though, and some are incredible with using lineless in colored pencil/mixed-media. Also, heh, I deliberately used up my old sharpies because I otherwise hadn't touched them in months. I've had them since late-last year and early this year, so I'd rather use them up than let them dry out. I have a good stockpile of colored pencils too, but have also been looking for another 24 pack so I keep that diversity up.

Yeah, but it's something I'm going to have to practice because I'm working more towards anime and fine-arts styling now...or at least trying to. I was watching a series of tutorials on Youtube a while ago after a friend on FA linked me to it, but I only watched a couple episodes on lighting/shadow techniques that I found applicable with colored pencils. I'm still too chicken to go fully lineless... >.>

Coincidentally, I just got a pack of regular drawing pens with fine pointed tips and Indian ink (which is supposed to be REALLY high-grade and waterproof). I'm thinking about doing more mixed media stuff since I don't just use pencils/colored-pencils anymore. I was using markers, but used them up on a series of butterfly abstracts I scribbled out earlier this month for the Inktober challenge.

Noted... Yeah, I've been having a hard time with drawing details in clothing... My skills have improved drastically the past few months, but they're just not where I want them yet... Guess I just need to keep practicing and see how things develop. I know I'll get things down in time, but for the present...meh... >.>

I'm trying a different styling actually, that's why I linked it. Bolder lines, different proportions than what's supposed to be "normal," some exaggeration here and there... Her arms are actually covered by her cloak, so they're not visible, but I do agree about the issue with the body and the way I did the eyes...well, it's Pyra... She's crazy and kind of sadistic, so I guess I subconsciously made them non-expressive. It's just a headshot, so there's not much to really show, but it turned out better than my previous norm. I've actually been drawing crazily all month, but my main stuff's just been crazy butterfly abstracts for the "Inktober" challenge (where you draw everything in ink).

Now that I'm officially in my post-good movie high, let's get started.

In case you don't know what Zootopia is about, and you can't watch the trailer, let me give a brief preview. All of the characters in this movie are anthropomorphic animals, meaning they can walk, talk, and do everything a human can do. So yeah, basically every disney movie, but that's besides the point. Zootopia is this big city where all of the animals...

Man, it's been a while since I've done a movie review, far too long. So, when my roommates invited me to go see The Boy with them, of course I tagged along.

The Boy is directed by William Brent Bell and stars Lauren Cohan in the main role. In case you haven't seen the trailer, a nanny, Greta, is called to this old english house so that she can watch over the old couple's son while they take a vacation. The main plot conflict...

M. Night Shyamalan brings us yet another horror flick, but this one is a little different.

I must admit, when I saw the trailer for this film I wasn't expecting much. Here comes yet another found footage horror film to throw into the pile, lost and forgotten with all of the other cheaply made films studios pump out for a quick buck. At least, that's what I thought until I did some more digging. M. Night Shyamalan actually...

This movie is gory, doesn't make sense, over the top, and mindless action. So why did I enjoy it?

I must say, I was really surprised by American Ultra. I went in expecting mindless action with really cheap comedy, and that's actually exactly what I got. But don't worry, there's a lot more to it. The very things I went in to see took a backseat to a story with a surprising amount of heart and characters that weren't drones...

If you thought the first Sinister was messed up, hold on to your sanity, because you haven't seen anything yet.

WARNING: GRAPHIC SCENES AND VIOLENCE:

For the record, I thought the first movie was decent. It at least tried to break from the traditional hollywood jumpscare routine by giving us interesting-ish characters and a plot that wasn't bad. This movie is pretty much the same, only it cranks up the demonic...
