Oh, burnouts are awful. I get them too, especially if there are too many people to take in at once. I put my headphones on to zone out if I'm getting too overwhelmed to prevent a meltdown. It doesn't always work, but more often than not it gives me time to zone out and go into my own little world for a while.

One thing I don't like is being asked lots of questions because it means I have to think about answers. This can be very tiring because I'm forced into interacting and I can't just nod and continue doing what I'm doing lol. If I'm not in the mood I just give basic, flat answers hoping it's enough and doesn't warrant a follow-up question.

I'm not very good at talking about other people's interests but it's something I'm working on. I tend to space out a lot if I'm not interested, but I really want to get over this. It's not easy though...

I agree the convention manager needs to be more accommodating. It's surprising some places still don't make access easier for disabled people :(

I'm similar to you in that I don't like to initiate conversation. I often rely on others starting them for me especially in groups. I'll join in if it's something that's piqued my interest, or I'll talk to someone through a friend. Because of this, I often rely on conversation starters like reading a comic book that someone might comment on, sitting and drawing or wearing something a little more unusual - especially at church because a lot of the older people there aren't used to seeing hoodies with bunny ears. The more comfortable I am with someone though, the better I am at starting conversations.

It gets embarrassing though when I don't recognise people out of context. If I see someone from church I'm not fully familiar with walking about in a shop, it takes a moment to remember where I know them from or what they're called! Are you like that?

I'm also not good at initiating conversations with someone online for the same reasons you are. I'm worried I might get brushed off or they might say something rude. It's the same with real life conversations. In groups, if I try to say something and someone talks over me, that's it. I go quiet and it puts me off trying again :(

The under-pressure thing kind of sounds like my mind-blanks. If I have to give a presentation, my mind goes blank and I can't think of what to say. I need to use prompt cards. On a holiday to Japan, I'd been learning the language before hand but any time I was in a situation when I had to speak Japanese, I'd just freeze up and I couldn't think straight. This caused me to panic and go into a bit of a flap. I ended up relying on my husband and just translating into English bits I'd picked up for him. It wasn't easy at all.

Is your phone issue because it's a social situation? I hate using the phone in public but I'm fine at home. But if I don't want to talk I end up being totally disengaged and barely replying until someone says 'do you want me to go?' It's reminded me of the time I suddenly developed a crippling fear of leaving the house, so much so I had to be escorted places. It just came out of the blue! I managed to wean myself off it by meeting a friend somewhere and eventually I was okay popping out for an hour or so on my own. But I'd have awful panic attacks.

As for social situations, I'm not as bad as I used to be. I was the kind to fall asleep at parties, even my own XD I don't do parties any more - they're pretty dull. And I can't stand nights out in clubs. Pubs are bad enough. I'd much rather have a friend or two round and play on the N64 or something. It's much more relaxed and I'm not having to constantly worry about people bumping into me.

Wow, this conversation is probably giving you a lot of ideas for your character! XD

That sounds hard :( I'm not on medication myself so I can't really relate there. It was offered to me several times before I was diagnosed and every time I'd panic and back out! I'm scared it'll disagree with me or change my personality. I just take a herbal relaxation remedy instead.

Noise is a trigger for me as well. Especially screaming children. I'm not good with kids anyway, I find them too much of a bother as they command attention, and I just can't be doing with that. If they start screaming and running around, I stick my headphones on or try to slip out and get away lol. It's worse if I'm not expecting noise. If someone starts talking really loudly, that can get my back up and trigger anxiety, especially in crowds when I already have a lot of noise and motion to focus on (I also have dispraxia so crowds are difficult without the noise trying to co-ordinate balance and dodging people) I've learned to laugh at myself because I'm so clumsy XD

Other triggers are hunger and tiredness. Apparently they're common ones. Before I found that out I used to just think I was soft or anemic...

It's interesting you say you're expressive in writing. Creativity is a great outlet. I don't write to get points across, but I use a LOT of metaphors. I don't know why, I just do. It's strange because sometimes they're not even relevant and I can say 'I'm not sure where I'm going with this.' I also lose my train of thought a lot mid sentence and have to ask who I'm talking to to remind me what I was talking about. I also forget words... that's annoying. I end up making them up sometimes, or use the wrong one entirely! I've nicknamed these 'speakos' (similar to 'typos') and they make for great comedy value in social situations!

My imagination can be quite wild sometimes, so when I'm hyper I write utter nonsense from my friend battling with a jelly squirrel to become president of Cake Land to pigeons turning our life into a reality TV show... growing up with an obsession with Alice in Wonderland likely hasn't helped matters! It's interesting to read back on though. I've kept most of my random nonsense. It's quite therapeutic to let my addled mind generate random stories for a while! And people seem to enjoy reading them, so I'm doing something right!

    Quick Self-Introduction
I'm the most amazing, kind, adorbz, sweet, lovable weirdo you'll ever meet. :D
    Biography
A new bio is overdue... so here we go:

Hello! My name is Kimi. I'm an autistic unicorn trapped in the body of an adult child. I also have ADHD and very severe anxiety as well. I love being random and unique as heck, so don't be surprised if I start spewing weird crap. :3 I also love being autistic because it's something I've embraced. It's what makes me who I am! I'm also bi/ace and genderfluid. :3

Music is my life. It's saved me in some many ways, and I wouldn't be here today if not for having it. I still can't imagine my life without out to this very day. I also love to write, and it's easier for me to express myself through this than by speaking verbally/emotionally. :3 If you want to know more... don't hesitate to ask! I swear I'm a sweet unicorn. You just have to find me first.

Taken by the most wonderful guy ever who is my soulmate. Sorry everyone. :P
