Probably...especially in Japan. They're still making freakin' PSP games in Japan. Mind = blown.
It had Xenoblade, which automatically made it worth the purchase and then some! Although I think I spent more time on Monster Hunter Tri, actually. xD
PS Vita is the current home of JRPGs, I think. It's a shame Sony aren't supporting it, but as I don't care for AAA titles in general I'm not losing much sleep over it; there are some fantastic titles coming up this year! I'd recommend a standard model over a Slim if you do get one, though - the screen is significantly better~

It is indeed a shame...it had some truly fantastic games. But then, Sony have pretty much dominated the market since the PS1; the Wii only did as well as it did because Nintendo went outside the standard target audience and catered to a general audience.
Yeah, PS4 and Xbone haven't really attracted much attention, despite the PS4's phenomenal sales...I think it's a question of perception, though. I pay attention to most of Nintendo's releases, and only the JRPGs for other consoles, and it takes a while for those to come out. I didn't touch my Vita for almost a year after I got it at launch due to lack of variety. I expect the current gen will pick up eventually, it's just going to take a couple more years. PS3 is still going strong at least. xD

Indeed...and even going by your own standards other people may not be able to find something that fits your recommendations; as a very relevant example, I love magical girl shows, yet I loathed Madoka, which I watched on advice. Although half the stuff people recommend I watch based on my likes I've already seen! xD
Well, I think advertising these days is more an awareness thing now than it is a persuasive thing because, as you say, people aren't quite so mindlessly ignorant and won't immediately swallow what they're told...or at least, most people won't.
Well, both! They were doing awfully with the Gamecube, then spectacularly with the Wii/DS, and they've botched the 3DS/Wii U awfully because of their lacklustre advertising. I know people who still think the Wii U is just a regular Wii with a gamepad! xD

Discovery is half the fun! At least you own your mistakes that way, as well...I've found that people tend to get angry if you don't like what they recommend. Although a lot of people get angry if you ignore their recommendations as well! xD
*shudders* That sounds about as much fun as having your eyes stabbed out with a blunt spoon...it's the media equivalent at any rate, aha. Chances are I'd be in a similar boat...having zero fun, in short. I wouldn't say ALL popular media is awful - there is occasionally a grain of truth to the excitement - but in my experience it's due to overblown media coverage and/or an excellent advertising campaign. You need only look at Nintendo's past generation sales to see how well adverts have worked for them. xD

Indeed! I'm willing to accept variations of words, but not variations in spellings. xD
...good thing I'm not out to learn the language then; I don't think I'm quite ready to do away with the subs entirely yet! I'll settle with the occasional moments of awesome when I recognize a word or two, aha~
Yeah, it's difficult to form your own opinion on shows that are wildly popular...you inevitably go in with expectations, and (if you're like me, anyway) you wind up disappointed. I've watched a few popular shows in the last couple of years - Madoka was a big one - and I've come away wondering what the fuss was about, as stuff I've found myself was so much more enjoyable. Lack of objective media sucks sometimes. It's fine liking something everyone else does, but not because everyone else does, and with angry fans it often feels like they've all formed into a single mindless entity...like the Borg. xD

True...although I don't know why HS has a release schedule with times on it, for example, because they never ever ever follow it; with Gundam in particular they take forever right now. xD
You mean how the UK spelling is correct and the US spelling isn't, right? =P *shot*
Wording change is the only thing I'd find annoying...but half the time I don't know any different I expect, as I can't speak Japanese! Some of the terms are pretty easy to spot sometimes, but I guess anything is better than RAWS you can't understand a word of, right? Well...most words. I've found in the last few years I can understand most of what is being said sometimes without looking at the subs as I pick out particular words. xD
*shudders* That's a shame...although I guess there are a few good quality "mainstream" anime, as they wouldn't be mainstream otherwise. I typically enjoy lesser known titles though, if only because I'm left alone to form my own opinion of them, as opposed to be told if I don't like them I'm going to be crucified by a horde of angry fans~

Yeah, that makes sense...if there is a dub, I'll typically look at the voice cast before I make my mind up as to whether or not I want to watch it. If it's got Yuri Lowenthal in a prominent speaking role, I usually won't, aha. The only downside of subs is that you have to wait sometimes for someone to sub them...but I guess the wait is shorter than waiting for a dub version that might never come! Quality can be an issue sometimes as well, but as there are multiple subbing groups, you can usually find an alternative.
Really? But they'll miss so much watching dubs only! A lot of good shows - like every Pretty Cure season asides the first - haven't been dubbed, and never will be. Subs taking some getting used to, but I find I don't even notice anymore. Well, I guess it's their loss. xD

Hey y'all. Seems like something on the forum has changed because now (at long last) I can finally start doing blogs (without 2000 plus posts or premium membership).

So without further ado, my first Blog entry, well not that its going to be anything exciting cos ya know, I haven't thought of something exciting to write yet =p. Buuuuut anyway I'll try to use this blog to outline what am hoping to achieve from doing this Blog.
One of the things I plan to do is a list of top...
