Aaah, there's actually no excuse- in the thread, I totally meant to say thanks to you, too, for all the research you shared about Emerald and stuff- (I KNEW I'd forgotten somebody...). Listen, this sounds like a terrible, lame excuse, but I can't edit any more text into the first post right now, but I'm getting the proper internet soon, and I will give a public declaration of thanks to you when I do. Not to make you feel awkward or anything, but you do deserve recognition for telling me heaps of stuff.
Anyway... Yeah.
Oh, right. That's freakin awesome, you work so fast, hahaha. I'll give a few of the Johto ones a shot if you like, when you start them. Like you did with Kabuto, give me a name and I'll start from there.
Question- when you script, what offset do you search from to get your dynamic offset? I've searched from (and used) $E3CF64 (because apparently XSE compiles to the nearest free offset anyway), but even still, I must be overwriting something, because by the time I compile about 3 scripts, errors start appearing in my maps, like random tiles going black and... Well, I just need to know. What offset do you start from, or whatever? I can script, but I keep running into stupid problems that stop me from making any progress :(
Lol, no problem at all, do what you want with them.
I'd meant I didn't actually do Articuno, but I'll give it a shot now. Like Aerodactyl, the flapping wings looked a bit daunting to me, so I ignored it, lol. I'll do it now.
Yeah, I assumed that (about ones with completely different poses).
... Kabuto done. I'll do a few and show you them all- uploading is tedious when you don't have proper internet, so it's easier. You should know, the only difference between Kabutops' Emerald first frame and FRLG pose is the angling of its left scythe. That... Is it. I'll do a couple, then show you.
Ok, I'll work on it. Basically you want it in the pose of the Emerald second frame, but that its features look like they do in FRLG? That's the idea I got from the sprites you've done so far.
Also, I've found the location of the frames for the Yes/No boxes etc. in Tile Molester. The offset is 0050E760, they're all there. No sign of the actual text box yet. Also, a few bytes below said frames, you'll see the Flower animation, and a further few bytes you'll find more animations for various tiles.
Sorry, if you already knew all of this.
Yep, just learning now. I know, considering how long I've been banging on about Infinity, you'd think I'd know by now, but... Yeah, I don't. But it's pretty easy, even looking at the ingame scripts alone I'm learning quickly.
I've knocked out a load of NPCs and stuff, but actual events are ones I want perfect, so I'm making sure I know everything I need to.
Within a few weeks, though, I'll be ready for a thread. Possibly within a week, if I don't get up to much else, but it'll be a pretty crazy summer, this year.
I.. Could help out. Give me a Pokemon to start from, though- Since you've already done so much you'd likely pass me out, or something. And maybe don't expect 70 from me in a short amount of time, hehe.
Oh, dear god, no- I didn't (and will never) use that patch. I mean, I opened the ROM with his tool after inserting several sprites (that I resized myself), and got an error message saying "This data is not compressed!". Rather than continuing and facing potential problems, I restarted. But one of those 'save all/import all' things, took about half an hour.
As for my hack, I will be posting a thread very soon. Only started learning to script a while ago (a stupid tutorial that didn't work had me convinced something was wrong with my ROM or my XSE, but it was a very simple problem- that the tutorial, that I spent weeks reading, had false information. I've found a proper one though, and Trebornosliw's offered to help out with any problems I have. I want my screens for the thread to have events in them, so people'll see I'm genuinely trying, as opposed to those Fire Red hacks with horrible maps and gen 5 Pokemon (with terribly inaccurate guesses at movesets).
[looks at thread]. Ah, that's what I was doing with Infinity. I'm making all my own tiles, but I suck at custom buildings, so I was trying to do HGSS ones, but they also failed. So I'm just using the Fire Red buildings, with slightly altered palettes. Unoriginal, but it looks nice. I'm also using Fire Red trainer sprites, because I've inserted all those Overworlds and they didn't match the Trainer sprites otherwise.
Is there anything you need help with for anything to do with hacking (bar scripting)? Just wondering. Anything at all, let me know. I've been doing loads of graphics for Trebornosliw's Hidden Ties, and I'm on a roll, lol :D if there's ever anything, I'm here.
So... How... How are you doing? (we only ever talk about hacking, I don't think I've ever asked that before, rofl).
Hi.
Sorry about being so late, I've had important exams. I finished my last one just over an hour ago, so I'll have more time for hacking and PC now, as well as life in general.
I searched and searched for that Gold hack, and I couldn't find it for the life of me. I'll keep looking now and again, and I'll let you know if I find it.
Also, thanks for that link. I'd started resizing some DPPtHGSS sprites, but somehow something happened with the compression of the sprites- ie, they weren't anymore, according to Wichu's graphic tools. I ported everything onto a clean Rom yesterday so I'll use these instead. Thanks!
I noticed you changed the name to DarkViolet. How's it coming along?
