I've read some pretty decent modern books, but the times when the arts were wiser, more genuine, and more inventive certainly did not take place within the last ten years. I feel the same way about film.

There's not much I like about this century either, it makes me feel feel restricted, cynical, and like I have to be consistent. I'm pretty sure I should have been a late 60's - early 70's girl. Mid-1920's seems nice, too, with Art Deco and all.

I enjoy the response I get.

To each his own, I suppose. I admire that, though, I hate that I have all these books on my to-read list that will most likely go unappreciated. It's all about attention span for me, too. I guess what it is about movies that keep me so drawn is my fascination with imagery outside of literature. I hate for everything to be expressed in words alone.

Yeeeah, I didn't wanna pass judgment too quickly...I couldn't finish Twilight. It was too dreadful. Horribly written, bland story, superficial characters with a relationship based on nothing but lust; just sheer butchery of creative writing.

Yup, today I'm Raoul Duke of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." I only started a couple weeks ago, and I will probably dress as certain characters multiple times, I loved walking around in public as Alex. But believe me, the list of character options is longer than you think...I'm a film aficionado to the core.

I'd think the same way if I wasn't so lazy. Books are always better than their film adaptations in many cases, so I'll generally /want/ to take a gander at both...but movies are so much easier to access for me. I tend to just set the book aside and never finish it, anyway...I wish I was a more persistent reader. I can't say I've read a lot of horrible books though, aside from Twilight and something by Nicholas Sparks. I usually try to avoid books that are given a lot of hype by people my age, they're always disappointing.

Love the film adaptation, I have yet to read the book. (I say "have yet" like I will eventually read it...I won't. I hardly ever read.) Every day I dress as a different movie character, a few days ago I made a feeble attempt at Alex from A Clockwork Orange. (I had to look up an instructional YouTube video on how to apply eyeliner >.>)

Very true. Ziggy was based on the typical peace promoting but self-destructive rock star, which is fairly interesting, sure, but "Station to Station" from the Thin White Duke era seems much more personal.

Have you read/heard any of the books/poetry from the Beat Generation? The artists of this particular "culture," I suppose I should call it, were intensely creative and beyond interesting. They heavily promoted hedonism and nonconformity. "Naked Lunch" is a book by William S. Burroughs, a leader of the Beat Generation, it's my favorite book of all time. I have a feeling you'd like that stuff, if you don't already.

I must say the Stardust Bowie produced some of my (rather obvious) favorites, like "Suffragette City" and "Andy Warhol." He kind of rules music no matter what personality he picks, though.

The only reason his solo career was successful was because of Genesis, though I don't think he's all that terrible...I did love Tarzan. xD

Bowie is just fascinating individual and an innovative mastermind, an artist in every aspect. My favorite Bowie era has got to be Ziggy Stardust. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone said that...but definitely his most creative years.

Consider yourself lucky. I was forced to see her movie, which was...less than spectacular, needless to say.

Amen @ "Phil Collins should stay on the drums." His solo career has not impressed me, most of his songs have been pretty cheesy =x. David Bowie is my cosplay god, such an influence on genre...and he has kind of dominated my ipod behind Waits.

Yummy, Genesis. I'm a huge Peter Gabriel disciple. My friends are mostly into Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus...there's no winning them over with my musical preferences.

I'm pretty sure you can find the whole thing on YouTube, if not, I have a link to the conversation between Iggy (<3) and Tom Waits. Great quotes there.

He's brilliant, a lyrical genius. Have you seen the Jarmusch film Coffee and Cigarettes? That movie stimulated my interest in him, I've been in platonic love with him ever since. I don't know anyone in person who holds him in high regard, -of course I don't know anyone with good taste-.
