It's been a few months so we thought we would share a status update on the changes we promised in our "Moving Forward" thread.
In terms of finances, the new administration has taken control of donations and switched from the old system to a new one. Sheep is now PC's treasurer, handling all money from donations, which go directly into PC. We're in the process of revamping the supporter status to encourage donations, with phase one of that project being the private beta release of New PC for all new and current supporters.
However, that brings us to the second order of business: Steve (Rukario). We said in our initial post that he was stepping down from staff and would be relinquishing ownership of the site. Although he is no longer staff and has no say in how the forums (and associated communities like Discord and Social Media) are run, he will likely stay on as owner for the foreseeable future. This means he continues to receive the ad revenue generated by the site and pays the site costs and will do so until he decides to sell the site, which he says is still his current plan. We do not currently know when and if the sale of the site will occur as he has a very high asking price. We are disappointed that a handoff of PC to a new owner will not go as smoothly or as quickly as we were led to believe, but we want to ensure any future owner has PC's best interests in mind.
We just want you all to know that we are doing our best to continue improving PC and making it a safe, comfortable, and fun community for everyone. Staff and supporters are currently beta testing New PC, which we hope to release to everyone in the very near future. We've also begun the planning stages of this year's Get-Together with a tentative kick-off time of mid to late July. As always, our team is diligently discussing and working on things behind the scenes.
Thank you to everyone who has continued to stick with us! We'll keep doing our best to be transparent with you guys and providing updates as soon as we have new information. Feel free to ask any questions you may have in this thread and the staff will do their best to answer.
