[ prologue ]

The moon shone brightly, but it wasn't easy to look up and admire it. Wind blew heavily around the two lonely human scouts climbing up the mountainside. It was cold at this altitude, it had probably been snowing recently. The Arca Peak was above them, hidden in mists. People had tried to fly there, in machines and on pokémon, but there was always some kind of electrical power or raging storm that prevented them from reaching the top. Exploration teams had been sent up before, but none had reached the top before the storm got the better of them. But this time, it was different. These scouts were well prepared and had the most advanced instruments in the whole of Arcanum with them. They had reached further than no other explorers before them, by stealth. They could almost see the top...

Electricity crackled in the air between the scouts. From where? From above? A dark cloud was starting to form above them, spinning in the storm. The scouts had to hold on for dear life to not be blown away. They had been discovered! Then came the green Thunder. It was strong and hit the rope that bound together the scouts. The lowest scout tumbled down from the mountain with a scream, landing finally on a ledge way down with probably more than one broken bone in her body. The remaining scout looked up, and took forth a black little camera at the same time. If there was something in that cloud, he would capture it!

Then came the pink Fire Blast. From the top of the mountain, when the scout was not prepared, it hit him with a scorching sound and sent him tumbling down the mountainside as well. He landed just below the other scout, and could hear her groaning. The wind was a lot calmer here. He looked up. They had fallen so far... he couldn't move his legs. But in front of him, within arm's reach, was the little black camera. Forgetting all about his broken body, he reached out for it and looked at the last taken picture. Yes... finally. It was worth it. Shiny Reshiram was real and shiny Zekrom too. He pressed a button on his wrist just before he felt himself fade away into darkness. It was all worth it...

[ recent history ]

Welcome to the region of Arcanum. It wasn't until 50 years ago that humans from other regions finally landed on these shores. They discovered some remarkable things. One, the people of Arcanum still lived in a medieval kind of world. Two, the whole region had shiny pokémon only. Here, normal colored pokémon were the rare ones. Immediately, work began to industrialize and modernize Arcanum. Rigorous help and donations was given from the other regions... in return, shiny pokémon were hunted and exported.

shiny_sewaddle_by_misha1998-d3kj4s4.png
Nowadays, people pay ridiculously great sums to travel to Arcanum and catch shiny pokémon. Only the very rich people or most successful trainers can afford to travel here as foreigners. The people of Arcanum seem to be divided nowadays. Some think that industrialization is good and will help them to get a better life. Other say that their lives were good already and that the modern ways will only bring misery to Arcanum.

Scientists are still working hard to find out some decent explanation for how Arcanum could have escaped discovery for so long and why all pokémon are shiny. In the temples and libraries of Arcanum though, there is already an answer, although it's regarded as myth. If you visit a library or temple in Arcanum, you can read about it yourself... The myths tell the tales of how pokémon came to Arcanum, long time ago, and about the origins of the mighty guardians and gods of the land: shiny Reshiram and shiny Zekrom.

[ times and people ]

The region where this RP takes place is reminiscent of the feudal aged Japan when it comes to buildings, country lifestyle and nature. Modernities exist though, since a lot has been imported and more or less successfully implemented in the Arcanum culture over the last half century. Since it has been about 50 years, mostly only older people are shaking their heads at the modernities nowadays and younger people are used to living in this strange mix of cultures.

shiny_larvesta_by_misha1998-d3huljk.png
On the first birthday of every child born in Arcanum, the child is presented with a black stone and a white stone. If the child touches the white stone, Reshiram is named their guardian and if they touch the black stone, it's Zekrom.

There are only shiny pokémon in the wild of Arcanum. Normal colored pokémon is a rarity that only foreign trainers have but often rather quickly replace when they see all the shinies. Shiny pokémon don't glow and sparkle here, like in the games. That would just be annoying. They are simply differently colored.

There was a prominent class system in Arcanum, which still holds meaning today. It consisted of different ranks, depending on how many Arena Pins your family had. A Pin was given out by a pokémon Master - the owner of an Arena - if you managed to defeat or severely impress them in a pokémon battle. Being of a higher rank meant that you would be allowed into some places where people of lower rank wasn't, and that people treated you and paid you better. Many parents have sent their teenagers out on pokémon journeys just to earn money and glory for the family. Most failed, but since the industrialization, pokéballs exist so bringing several pokémon along is much easier than before.

[ plot ]

With the discovery of Arcanum, shiny pokémon were starting to become less rare in the rest of the world, and there grew a need for the very rich and powerful people to have something more to be even more special... what more fitting than some shiny legendary pokémon? Which is exactly what the gods of Arcanum are believed to be. A man called Mr Redwulf and his employees have now started business in Arcanum, intent on finding and capturing these gods. A woman named Miss Bluedart has her own employees and are doing the same. The Redwulf Band and the Bluedart Order are starting to unnerve the people of Arcanum, doing questionable things to reach their goal... why are they doing this? Because they will get rich, of course. And immensely famous.

shiny_zorua_by_misha1998-d3i12mu.png
One night you are awakened by a dream. In it, you meet your guardian, Zekrom or Reshiram. The two of you soar through the skies of Arcanum and watch the region burn. Plants have lost their color, pokémon and humans are warring and dying and black clouds cover the sky. Your guardian claims that this will happen if the region continues on its current path and that Arcanum isn't meant to be this way. There are poachers who hunt pokémon heartlessly just to sell them as objects far, far away from their homelands. The poachers are even aiming to capture the gods themselves! Your guardian begs you to help it. The great dragon asks you to travel the land and see for yourself, while gathering friends and training hard for what was coming. Save your guardian and the land of Arcanum. Train hard...

You don't get much more sleep that night. Was it just a dream? A new, strange mark on one of your wrists seems to tell you otherwise! It's a white and black yin yang mark, somehow melted into your skin, and it can't be washed away. It's slightly warm to the touch.

[ game mechanics and info ]

I will put up details for every area and state what you MUST do, what you MAY do and what you CAN'T do. Often, there are special events that you must perform - but I'll try to make them pretty open for your own interpretations. Generally, you can then make up your own adventures on top of that.

I plan to let you post without interaction most of the time, except for in certain events when you are forced to interact directly with other players in the IC thread OR write joint posts. Because the only way you can normally interact is by creating a joint post. Look at "Neo Kanto" for a hint of what I mean.

Regarding Arena battles... You can write them whenever you want inside a town and don't have to wait for the Master to rest up or anything if you happen to post your Arena battle right after another player's.

What side are you really on and what call will you heed?

- Maybe you're mainly intent on saving your guardian god and stop the Redwulf Band or the Bluedart Order?

- Maybe you want to defeat the Masters and collect all Arena Pins to become a powerful, influential person?

- Maybe you will travel to see what state Arcanum really is in, to decide whether you believe in mythology or in technology, and then fight for that cause?

- Or maybe you have other reasons for leaving Januvale?

Only one way to find out who you will be.
Enter Arcanum.

[ rules. rules? RULES! ]

- For convenience's sake, I am the highest authority in this RP (except for the mod, of course) and if I ask you to do or change something, please do.

- No pure OOC posts in the IC thread. Ask things and talk about the RP in this thread.

- Rating is T, meaning you don't have to treat it like the anime journey of a 10 year old, but you shouldn't include heavy gore and romance past kissing.

- If you skipped reading 'game mechanics and info', go back and do it, lazy.

- Minimum posting rate is once per week, for each player. If you post less often without giving me a decent reason, your spot on the RP can be opened up. If you think this will be hard to keep up with, then please don't sign up.

- When you attempt to capture a pokémon, end your post before the capture is complete. I will decide whether it's successful or not as well as details about the new pokémon.

- I will tell you when your pokémon level up, when they learn new attacks and when they are able to evolve. Pokémon can remember up to 8 attacks at once.

Flareon (Flynn)

Male; Quick Attack, Sand Attack, Flamethrower

[ Appearance ]

As with all native Arcanians, Lynn's appearance resembles that of a 16 year old Asian teenage girl. Her skin tone is only a little pale, with only a few minor blemishes. Lynn stands at about 5'8'' in height as well; only just a tad taller than a few of her friends. She s also pretty flat-chested, which doesn't bother her much in any-case. (until someone mentions it, that is.) Her hair is black as well as long, in which her hair drops down all the way to Lynn's mid-back. Some bits of her hair, drops down from the front towards her upper shoulder. Her eyes are also black, which match her hair. Her nails are not very long, but not very short either. They are painted white, with a hint of red, which according to her family, that red represents her "good chi".

Her outfit isn't very modern, but kind of ties on her family heritage, and because he's a native Arcanian. Her outfit consists of a long, red dress that is made out of cotton. The dress is so long that it almost covers her ankles. The sleeves of her dress is very wide, which holds up when Lynn wears it; in other words, the sleeves are much wider than her arms, so it droops down when worn. Her red dress is also decorated by white lining, coloring, and patching. On the back of her dress, a pointed-star-shaped white lining is patched on it. On her dress where her chest is where, white lining and coloring is also patched. Finally, where her dress collar lies, white lining is decorated followed up with a yellow ribbon to complete the style. There is also a green jewel on each of her shoulder. As for foot wear, she wears black socks, as well as red dress shoes, with a red buckle on each foot.

This is what she basically looks like in a picture:
Spoiler:

And again; she's the girl in the red dress. (exclude the staff)
Spoiler:

[ Personality ]

Lynn is basically a person who is straightforward, yet at the sometime, awkward and weird. She is responsible, in terms of caring for pokemon, and caring deeply about her family and friends. She would never put anyone in more importance than others; she treats everyone equally. People have said that her strength comes from her caring nature, and boldness when it comes to overcoming obstacles. Then again, she does have a weird, eccentric side to her. She has a firm belief on ghosts, and other spirits, which that belief was inherited from her family. She also has a firm belief on hexes, and curses. As such, she often gets paranoid that a ghost will come and grab her soon if she commits something which will get her "cursed" (eg. stepping on a crack will break your mother's back, ohohoho~)

Therefore, she is also wild, and imaginative. She also has this...coffee madness. Whenever she drinks it, she becomes a hyper, more eccentric, overly dramatic girl who yells or says something bubbly. Whether she does, or does not drink coffee, when she gets peeved or angry, she can attempt to say a few hexes and curses that she has been taught from her family...even though none of them works. However, her firm belief on the occult is what she uses to drive herself more on expanding her curiosity in the world.

[ History ]

Lynn was born in Januvale Town, Arcanum, where she has a mother, a little sister, a grandfather, and a grandmother. Her father, had abandoned the family long ago, although Lynn did not know too much about it; in fact, she barely knew that she even had a father. In any case, Lynn, was especially born...as a member of the Colthearts family clan. The Colthearts were a family who were known for communicating with spirits, and with the land of the dead. The leader, and master of the Colthearts clan was the one who's connection to the spirit world, and the land of the dead was the strongest of them all.

The "spiritual power" of the Colthearts clan was always inherited by the females of the group. Before Lynn and her mother was born, Lynn's grandmother was the leader, since her ties with the spiritual world was strongest. When Lynn's mother was born, she had more ties with the spirit and the land of the dead than Lynn's grandmother, and thus, became the new leader. Finally, Lynn was born after her mother married. Unfortunately, her father had left them, to set his own goals in his life; even when it meant leaving his family behind. Lynn was born right in Janvale, her grandmother observed that the child's ties to the spirit world and the land of the dead were stronger than any member of the Colthearts clan that lived in history. The child was to become master at a young, but mature age.

When Lynn was 10 years old, she was taught all about spirits, ghosts, and the occult from her mother. She was then told all about the whole purpose of the Colthearts clan -- to tie in the forgotten spirits, with the land of the ancients, towards the human world. Maybe one day...the world can come to peace with them. Lynn was always skeptical on meeting spirits, and other forms of the occult, but, she knew that this was only for the good of the clan. Her sister Ringo, was born at this time, however, she did not have much ties to the spirit world as Lynn does, so, there was no way that she wold become clan master.

However, Lynn had a more interest with pokemon. She would always enjoy reading picture books, and novels about pokemon trainers and their pokemon -- traveling to different regions, meeting new friends, even battling with those friends. However, while Lynn might have a more interest in pokemon, her belief in spiritualism stood strong as ever. However, as Lynn grew up, she knew that the Colthearts clan also had family feuds. The branch family, hosted by Lynn's Aunt, Uncle, and cousins, as well as other distant relatives, have plotted to take the master titlle from the main family, hosted by Lynn's mother and her grandmother.

Lynn did not want to be exposed to this family feud, so, when she turned her current age, 16, she decided that she did not want the title of the master of the Colthearts, and decided to pass it on to his sister. In fact, this is the first time that she realized why her father left -- he wanted to find a more peaceful solution to have the branch family accept the Main household family. So, Lynn vowed that someday, she too will travel out of Januvale to find that answer.

[ Sample text ]

Somewhere in the vast town of Januvale, a Taillow was flying back towards its nest, through the clear, crisp sky that commonly hosted flying typed pokemon. This Taillow was oddly colored by other common blue Taillow; it had a sea-green hue, along with patches of orange on their chest and forehead, the patch on their forehead having a triangular upper tip. It had been hunting for its lunch for a while now; but so far, no such luck.

However, it wasn't as though it was completely out of luck. No, the variety of pokemon it normally feasted upon was not generally found in the area in which it housed its nest on. That was because of fear. What was that fear? Well, the wild Taillow would soon find the answer to that question, as before it knew it, it was visited by a strange turquoise gas-like figure, that seemed to have materialized from virtually out of nowhere. The Taillow was surprised, as it flew backward a few feet, flapping its wings at a faster rate. The ghostly figure had its wide eyes fixed on the surprised Taillow with its pearly white and sharp looking white fangs that stuck out from its sinister applying smile.

"Gasssst....ly..." (Hello... Good day...) The figure tried to greet, however, due to its spooky first impressions, the wild Taillow became so frightened that it turned around, flapping its wings as fast and hard as it can, flying away from the figure as fast it could. The ghostly presence was puzzled, as it wondered why an innocent creature would try to escape the simple act of saying hello. However, it was unable to further think of this situation, as it was soon to be called upon.

"Gaaaaastlyyyyy!" a voice, apparently belonging to a female. "Gastly, where are you?"

The figure, also known as a Gastly, recognized that voice, as it soon de-materialized from the sky. An ancient-Japanese looking house could be seen just a few feet away from the wild Taillow's nest. The house, having this old-Japenese feel to it, was primary made out of strong wood and bamboo, while inside, one can gain access to all of the separate rooms just by passing through sliding doors. Also inside the house, the familiar turquoise-colored ghastly soon materialized into the humble home. It surveyed around the house, searching for someone. It soon figured out where that someone was, as the voice called out to it again. Gastly soon levitated through the solid doors, thanks to its ghostly figure, only to be acquainted by a girl.

"Gastlyyy...Gas..." (Good day... Master Lynn...) Gastly said, grabbing the girl named Ringo's attention.

"Ah, there you are, Gastly!" Lynn said. "Mother already stated: You really shouldn't go off scaring locals anymore. You'll get 7 years of bad karma."

"Gastly... gassss..." (But I simply wanted to converse what is their favorite color...) Gastly explained.

"Anyway, mother wants you in the training hall," Lynn explained. "You better go, or else the ghosts of Hades will grab you for negligence."

"Gassss...ly... gass..." (I understand... Good day... Master...) Gastly said, bidding adieu. It de-materialized once again, as it was soon not viable to Lynn, a young 16 year old girl, anymore.

*****

Lynn was feeling uneasy, as she was standing at a bench, that stood in her front yard. The only thing that was in her mind right now was the dream she had last night. It was a dream that she too could not fathom. That night, she dreamed that a huge pokemon, which was greeted to be Zekrom, a legendary pokemon, taking Lynn to fly around Arcanum. She saw that Arcanum was completely covered by fire...and darkness. It was too unbearable too watch, as the pokemon explained that this was not meant to happen -- that the future can be changed. That was then she woke up. However, the plight wasn't over. As she woke up, that was then she noticed...the mark on her wrist.

The mark symbolized ying-yang, and, even when she touched it in this current day, it was still warm to the touch. But, what does this mean? That was when Lynn was worried, as she immediately stood up from her bench.

"Its...a...CURSE!!" Lynn assumed frighteningly. She tried to rub out the mark vigorously with her other hand, but, it was no use. It wouldn't come off. "I KNEW I'D REGRET IT AS SOON AS I STEPPED ON THAT ONE MILLIMETER CRACK N THE FLOOR! FORGIVE ME MOTHER!! FOR NOT ONLY I'VE BROKEN YOUR BACK IN THE NEAR FUTURE, I HAVE BEEN CURSED FOR SEVEN YEARS!! Or Eight...WHICHEVER!"

*****

Lynn then decided to stand up and try to take a walk around town to take a abetter grasp in this situation. She had virtually never set foot outside Januvale, except on circumstances on which she would go with her mother and buy some herbs, however, even then, it wasn't very far from where she lived. There was very little crowding in Junavale; the town was a very quiet one.

As she was walking to clear her mind, her troublesome folly was only to be stopped as she was soon bumped against a strange man from behind, dropping straight on the ground. The strange man turned around to see who have bumped into him, seeing Lynn sitting on the ground. It was then that the strange man noticed something that caught his eye -- it was the ying-yang mark on Lynn's wrist. The man now had his full attention towards Lynn, as he saw her stood up, brushing herself off. As Lynn finished brushing herself off, she came face to face with the man. Lynn couldn't recognize him at first, so she thought that he might be a dangerous one. So, she decided to send him a warning to scare him away.

"Oh...Uh...You! How dare you bump against a Colthearts without malice! Apologize immediately!" Lynn warned, with a steady, yet firm tone, trying to act more tough that she's leaning on, however, the man still stood there, quietly and un-phased. "Very well then! I SHALL USE A HEX CITATION THAT WILL MAKE A THOUSAND HAMS RAIN DOWN THE HEAVENS, CRUSHING YOU IN THIS VERY SPOT WHERE YOU STAND! Oinkity-oink, oinkrty Oink! Rain down...bounce like a SPOINK!"

However, Lynn knew that she was bluffing, and thus, nothing happened. The man still stood there with a cold, steady stare. In a more closer look though, Lynn noticed that it was Joresh Ja, the highest ranking trainer in Arcanum. His eyes had a cold, yet piercing stare upon Lynn, as Lynn wondered, 'what does the highest ranking trainer in Arcanum want with me?' That was when Joresh Ja spoke:

"You..." he said, still having a cold stare.

"Um...hi..." Lynn greeted, still taking a hold of this situation. "Um, if this is about the curse...I'm terribly sorry -- I promise to treat my mother's back three times a day! Even... though it's probably covered in pimples and warts... Okay, can I do something else-- "

"It's no curse..." Joresh explained quietly, as he glanced at the mark on Lynn's wrist. Joresh then turned around in the opposite direction, as he glanced back towards Lynn. "...Follow me to my home."

Lynn couldn't understand his request, nor what his role in this.. "Curse" was, but, she knew that perhaps the only way to make sense of this crisis was to follow him. However, she worried if her mother, and her grandmother would be looking for her soon, so this had to be quick. Lynn soon nodded, as she started walking alongside Joresh, to his home.

[ Name ]
Kitaru Chida

[ Age ]
15

[ Gender ]
Male

[ Guardian ]
Reshiram

[ Starter ]
Glaceon, Female, choice move: Detect

[Appearance ]
Kitaru is 5 foot 8 inches tall and of a medium build. His hair is naturally a dark brown colour but he dyes it white, and shapes it into short spikes. His eyes are hazel and his facial features are of a general Arcanian appearance. He is often covered in bruises because he gets into fights quite regularly.

Normally he wears a white sleeveless vest with a bright red hooded zip-up sweat shirt over it, with the zip undone. As for trousers he wears a pair of jeans and his shoes are normally trainers. He is willing to wear traditional Arcanian clothing but only on special occasions.

The small yin yang mark appeared on his left wrist about three inces below the palm of his left hand. When he holds his hand up in front of his face the yin sits on the top, with the two dots aligned horizontally, the mark is largely covered by the sleeves of his sweatshirt.

[ Personality ]
Kitaru is quite a hot headed person, he frequently charges into situations with no consideration of possible consequences. He is easily angered and will quiet quickly lash out if, either physically or verbally if someone gets on his bad side. Rules mean little to Kitaru he obeys or breaks them on a whim, but he does prize his honour and that of his family. Kitaru sees offending his families honour as a grave insult and this is quite an easy way to make him angry. Trying to explain to him that getting angry at such insults doesn't help his families honour does not go down well either. Largely his rule breaking and his bed temper have caused him to be labelled as a trouble maker.

The other teens mainly, the boys enjoy winding him up knowing that Kitaru will get in trouble for starting any fights, and generally the girls avoid him. He does have a few close friends, it isn't that he likes to be alone be alone but he much prefers it to the torment that so many others bring.

His goal is to conquer all of Arcanum's Arena Masters to bring honour to his family. He gets along well with his parents, they do discipline him for fighting by taking away his modern technology such as his games console and internet access, but they also understand his difficulties even if he doesn't always feel that way. He has a sister seven years younger than him. who incidental chose the black stone when she turned one year old, they argue a lot and on the surface it may seem that they don't get on very well but deep down he is very protective of her.

Despite his anger issues, Kitaru is a genuinely nice person, he doesn't have it in hie heart to be cruel to another person or a Pokémon. This sometimes brings quite a shock when people see this other side to him, as most of them have came to the conclusion that his anger and disrespect of authority is born of just being a bad person. Much the opposite is true, if you don't upset him Kitaru is a very reasonable young adult, he breaks the rules some times but he only does it with the best of intentions. He is quite the opportunistic person when relaxed. His hot headedness means that he very easily gets bored when there is noting to do.

[ History ]
Kitaru was born in the north of Arcanum, in one of the larger cities, he lived there for quite a while with his parents. When his parents told him that he was soon going to have a brother or sister he hoped for a brother. When he first saw his sister he was overjoyed, forgetting the fact that he had ever hoped for a brother and decided it look after and protect her.

Before his sister was a year old, while Kitaru himself was only seven his family lost a good portion of its rank within the Arcanum society. The reasons behind this were never explained to Kitaru, but it resulted in his family moving south to Januvale.

When his sister came to choosing the black or the white stone he hoped that she would choose white, just to match him. Her choosing the black stone was something that he struggled with because despite his parents claims that it made little difference he felt like he and his sister had drifted a little further apart in that one action.

[ Sample text ]
Once again Kitaru had gotten into a fight with another young lad from the village. And once again both of them had gotten a fair beating before their fight had been broken up. He wouldn't be surprised if he had a large bruise on his face by the time morning came, because he could feel the place where he had been punched burning as though it were deciding if it should swell up. He sat on a meter high wall getting his breath back after running away from the fight. He had his hood up to avoid being recognised. He wanted, just for a little while longer to be left alone.

It had started with some girls picking on his sister, they were a couple of years older than her. He went to speak to one of their brothers, the boy's family had a higher standing his so he just laughed off Kitaru's request and then flung some insults at him, the words still burnt in the back of Kitaru's mind. Despite the fact that Kitaru knew the other boy had been baiting him, he couldn't help himself and lashed out starting a fight. He knew from one of his friends that the boy only did it because the Chida family once had a higher standing than his. And it made him feel important to put down other people down but Kitaru just couldn't help himself. Once again he was going to be in trouble and so he hid for a while.

Once his breathing had slowed and his heart had stopped pounding in his chest Kitaru headed back into the village. He was feeling hungry but didn't dare go home yet as he knew he would be in trouble, news travelled fast in small communises like this or so he had heard. So he headed over to a small stall selling noodles, he asked the owner who he knew rather well for a large bowl. The man gave a slight frown, apparently he had heard about Kitaru's fight, but he knew Kitaru better than a lot of the other villages so despite his disapproving look still served him. Kitaru took a seat while he waited for his noodles to cook.

When his noodles were ready he got up to collect his noodles and pay. He paid by dropping the money in his right hand into the hand of the stall owner and taking the bowl of noodles with his left. For a second his sleeve pulled up his arm and the marking showed, he hastily pulled his sleeve back down and was relived that the stall owner had not noticed. He had largely put the dream to the back of his mind but the mark reminded him very much of it and it was not something he wanted the villagers to know about. Then he turned to sit down again and almost walked straight into Joresh Ja.

"I am very sorry..." Kitaru began, bowing, it was wise to apologise Joresh had the highest rank amongst the villages. Even Kitaru considered him worthy of respect owing to his skill at battling, but he was cut off quite abruptly.

"Chida, come and see me at my house." He looked at the bowl in Kitaru's of noodles in his left hand, either that or the spot on his wrist where the mark was hidden. He seemed to stare as though fascinated for about half a second then said. "I will not disturb your meal, but visit me just as soon as you have finished."

Joresh's appearance unnerved Kitaru, it wasn't until he had turned and walked away that Kitaru had felt he was able to move again. Was he in trouble that would be bad, but for some reason he hoped he was in trouble because he dreaded the fact that he had been told to visit meant that Joresh had seen the mark. He didn't feel hungry any more in fact the worry was making him feel quite queasy.

Her eyes are an icy-blue but they show her true feelings behind them and her good nature.

On to clothing, Genesis will wear anything she thinks is pretty. Her normal outfit, however, is a pair of black-skinny jeans with a normal white T-shirt and a black colored zip-up hoodie. She has simple black skechers as well.

He tells you to follow him back to his home to talk. Note that you don't own a pokémon yet.

Whoa, you gave this thing a total makeover.
May I reserve for Eevee and Zekrom? I'll start typing my SU . . . uh, perhaps tomorrow. I've been feeling sick today and I don't think I can look at a computer screen for too long. ):

EDIT: Oh, there's the map. I like how you displayed it~ At least the water is no longer purple, lol.

Oh, glad to see so many SUs already! I realize 8 players is a lot, but I'm actually planning on letting you interact 4 on 4 mostly (depending on what guardian you have, most often). But we'll develop something that will work.

You are all reserved for a couple of days~ Do take your time to write a deep SU :3

The Warden - The RP sample was good and I like the "chaotic good" character you've made ^^ I'll just wait with accepting it until I get some more finishes SUs. You shouldn't be worried, I just want to see that we can set a high standard here and assure that I get devoted and patient players ;)

Pokemonmaster_draco - You'll have to write a much better SU than that here. First of all, arrange your text into paragraphs and make it look neat - that makes it much easier to read. And don't abbreviate you as u. Please try again? Also, your guardian will be Reshiram, since you didn't pick one in your reservation and there's the only spot left.

And our song shall ring throughout all of Arcanum . . .

[ Name ] Melody Eumelia Wakana
[ Age ] 16
[ Gender ] Female
FemaleSymbol.png

[ Guardian ] Zekrom
[ Starter ]
133.gif
Eevee "Jazz"

Lv10
Gender: Female
FemaleSymbol.png

Abilities: Tail Whip, Growl, Tackle, Sand Attack, Wish
[ Appearance ]
Melody is caucasian, with a rather light skin tone, stands at about five feet seven inches and weighs about one hundred and twenty four pounds. She has long, black hair that goes all the way down her torso. She has deep brown eyes and a "natural beauty" about her, although she isn't vain in her appearance. She doesn't look it, but she's actually rather strong, fast, and light on her feet, thanks to hobbies like dancing.
Melody wears a white iris flower pin in her hair and she normally wears a white blouse. Her earrings are in the shape of music notes and she wears black and white bracelets on her arms. She wears a black belt with a tao belt buckle, and she usually wears a long white skirt with black stockings. Since she's travelling, she switched her white high-heeled shoes for some white sneakers with black laces. Melody can often be seen with her black iPod touch, listening to music.
[ Personality ]
Melody is a rather quiet person, usually preferring to sit back and watch for a while before she makes her move. However, you shouldn't let that fool you into thinking she's always that quiet, because being the true musician that she is, she has no problem with expressing herself. She's usually very polite, and she's rather confident in her abilities, or at least those partaining to music. She's a pretty brave person when the need arises, although she may not always seem like it.

Melody never really gets angry or jealous, as she was raised in a very calm environment, and whatever negative feelings she may have she can normally keep under control. If she does something bad or wrong, she probably didn't intend to, and she might act a little confused if you try to point it out or if it upsets someone. Basically, she seems to have the innocence of a child.

Melody has a great love for music, and while she may not be the brightest person around, she likes to think of herself as a genius when it comes to the musical arts. She is a very talented singer, a great dancer, and her mother always used to joke that she could play any instrument that she touched, even if she had no previous experience with it. Music is also the one way that she feels that she can connect with the father that she never knew.

Melody doesn't really dislike much, but she doesn't get along all that well with rude and impolite people. She also doesn't really like judgemental or arrogant people, even if she, at times, can be a bit too confident in her abilities. She isn't the biggest fan of heavy metal, screamo, deathmetal, rap music, et cetera. Melody also has an irrational fear of rhyming, although she can tolerate the occasional rhyme. This . . . makes for a very interesting situation for a musician (especially if there's a certain character played by a certain person named Shawn ;P).
[ History ]
Melody was born in Januvale Town, Arcanum. Her mother, like herself, had been raised in Januvale Town and, also like Melody, never really went far outside of Januvale. Her father, however, was born in the artistic town of Maydale, where he made his living as a musician, or, more specifically, a guitarist. Both of her parents were in their early twenties when they met, her father having come to Januvale during his travels, and so they were used to the industrialization, although they didn't see as much of it being in the west of Arcanum and all.

Sadly, soon after her birth, Melody's father fell victim to some sort of accident, of which Melody has little knowledge about. Melody was then raised by her mother, the only memory of her father being a few photos and, one of Melody's favorite things in the world, his guitar. As Melody's mother raised her, she also rarely left Januvale, and she had no idea if she even had grandparents on her father's side. In fact, Melody wasn't even sure that her mother knew her father's parents.

Melody was never the greatest student in school, barely passing most classes and hardly understanding any of the work. She did, however, accel in classes such as chorus, band, orchestra, jazz band, art and english (to an extent), et cetera. She had a small group of friends, not really caring if she was popular or not, and few enemies, as nobody really had a good reason to hate her.

Melody spent her days singing, dancing, playing instruments, listening to music, and other such activities. She never dared touch her father's guitar, but she did wish to very much. She felt that she could connect to her father through music; feel closer to him, even if she had never actually met him. The most she knew was what he looked like and whatever shone through in her mother's stories about him, which was most often his music. Combined with her stunningly natural talent for music and extreme amounts of practice, Melody became an incredible musician, and that's how she planned to live her life.

Of course, having little knowledge of the outside world, other than what she knew from global media, she did often think about exploring the world, or at the very least, Arcanum. She also wished for a Pokémon of her own, having only known a few around town, as well as her mother's Cherrim and her father's Chatot. She would also often go to the outskirts of Januvale and watch the wild Pokémon while she listened and wrote music, and she found the Pokémon to be great inspiration.

Melody found it odd that Pokémon, or at least "shiny" Pokémon, as the rest of the world called them, were actually rare outside of Arcanum. In fact, the whole of Arcanum could be calling the Pokémon from the rest of the world "shiny," so Melody fell into the habit of calling "normal" Pokémon discolored, or other similar names. This only caused her wish to travel the world, like her father, to grow.

Now, of course, other things occurred in Melody's life, but there's no need for you to know every detail. Perhaps not all of it is all that exciting, perhaps Melody does not wish to indulge complete strangers with all of her secrets, or perhaps there are obscure moments in Melody's past that even she isn't too sure of . . . . Regardless, you know what you need to, and maybe we'll all learn a little bit more about the girl known as Melody Eumelia Wakana as our destinies unfold.
[ Sample text ]
I sat up, leaning against a tree, with a Chatot on my shoulder and a sketch pad on my lap. I was on the outskirts of Januvale, and the day was beautiful. The sun was shining beautifully, illuminating everything in such a perfect way. Light shimmered on the water as a gentle breeze wafted through the air. I was currently sketching an Arcanine, which slept only about ten yards away from me, its golden fur glimmering under the rays of the sun, and it radiated an aura of beauty and grace.

"Hit the lights!" my father's- er . . . now my Chatot, Chidel, squawked as he sang Selena Gomez's Hit The Lights. He was a rather smart Chatot, actually able to engage in conversation, albeit short conversation, rather than just copy what you say ninety-nine percent of the time.

"Yes, Chidel, the light is lovely." I commented blankly, completely engrossed in my sketch of the Legendary Pokémon that slept peacefully thirty feet away from me.
"Lovely, the light is," the parrot Pokémon chirped.

"Please, don't go all Yoda on me," I murmured as I made the finishing touches on my Arcanine sketch. As I did, I noticed the tao mark on my arm, which still bugged me a bit. That dream . . . that dream was just so . . . I couldn't really describe it. It didn't help when I woke up and found a rather permanent tao tattoo on my wrist. Sure, I liked tao, it was my belt buckle after all, but I didn't want it as a tattoo on my wrist. Luckily, nobody had really noticed it, and if they did I could easily pass it off as a marker or impermanent tattoo.

I closed my notebook, catching a quick glimpse of a sketch of my dream of Zekrom as I did so. I stood up, Chidel fluttering his wings in protest for a slight moment, and headed back to Januvale.

*****

I walked down the street, Chidel flying near my head, as I listened to some Owl City on my iPod. I lifted my hand to sweep my hair out of my face, and I caught a man staring at me as I did so. I recognized him, sort of. He was the highest ranked trainer in Januvale. What was his name? Joshua? Jeremiah? Cherish Ra? I thought for a moment, eventually summoning his name: Joresh Ja.

I muted my music as the man, normally an apparent social outcast, approached me. This was . . . unusual, to say the least. As he approached, I noticed his eyes seemed to be locked onto my wrist. Right onto the tao tattoo.

"You," he stated simply, which was rather annoying. What, couldn't he at least say hi? How rude. Perhaps he could only speak simple words like a primitive human being. Or maybe he just wanted to be annoying, much like the titles of Evanescence's songs when I was trying to do a music meme. I mean, come on, do they all have to have, like, one word titles? "You" happened to be one of them. What do your friends think of you? You. What do your grandparents think of You? Tourniquet. I mean, come on, did that make any sense? It wasn't even senseless in that funny way, it was just . . . dull.

"Follow me to my home." I blinked. No 'please'? No 'thank you'? No 'ma'am, would you terribly mind following this rude old outcast back to his odd home that contains no other life forms besides his old Pokémon'? I mean, really, get some manners.

Also, it seemed a bit . . . odd. While Joresh Ja was a trusted citizen, the majority of assualt cases were the actions of a trusted individual. Still . . . nothing really happened in Januvale, and perhaps I would actually find a way to entertain and/or occupy myself for a little while. So, I decided to follow Joresh Ja.

Alright, Pokemonmaster_draco.

UMBREON is available, in case any of your others want to switch to that pokémon instead.

I see Miss Doronjo wants to write a SU for Vaporeon even though SeekerOfDarkness claimed that they wanted Vaporeon first. If Miss Doronjo's SU is way better than SeekerOfDarkness', Doronjo will get Vaporeon, but if they are quite the same quality (imo) or if SeekerOfDarkness' is better, Darkness will get Vaporeon.

And the last spot with Reshiram as guardian is reserved for {Swan} for now, just so you know.

Don't worry, I won't be as impatient for these SUs as I might have been for other RPs ^^'
