gold

Definitely gold!NO doubt.as i love staring at ho-oh and its holy Sacred Fire! some holy carol was sung as soon i used sacred fire lawl.

Improfane September 28th, 2007 2:52 PM

I got Silver rather than Gold. I prefer Silver since the box art is better, silver is better than gold (not as cheap).

Ruby/Gold/Red, Fire Red and Diamond are the dominant games if you ask me, I've prefer the least commons so I can trade more.

The Real AAA September 28th, 2007 9:34 PM

I like the box art of Gold better but box art really don't matter

I think the box art of Silver is better. Look at it.

Lugia is so cool! :D

Wakko October 2nd, 2007 11:17 AM

I prefer Silver because you can get Lugia with Aeroblast and you can also get Skarmory<333

.-'Infernal Hylian'-. October 2nd, 2007 12:49 PM

I prefer gold beacuase i loved the title screen XD

Anxiety. October 5th, 2007 3:16 PM

Hm, gold may be tacky (As in the mineral) But the game is better. 'Cause, face it. Lugia is awsome! I know that. But if you get gold, you get Ho-oh (ALSO ASWOME) And Lugia at a better level. (Lv. 70) in silver it is only Lv.45 or Lv.40 I think. So yeah, I voted Gold. Basicly, I see them the same, exept for the whole thong about Ho-oh and Lugia. Them both being awsome, but Lugia rocks at Lv.70 so it is eaisyer to get a better Lugia :) I have ShinyGold (For the visual boy advance) And, somewhere in my house, I also have silver, and I have Crystal, So I have a strong judgment, all I remember about silver is being annoyed that Lugia was at such a low level, and Ho-oh was so High, and spending ages tring to train up Lugia :( I gave up, I had been training none-stop for like... ever. I had no choice. I needed to see sunlight again....

Oh yeah, can everyone please stop refering to the minerals. This is a game we are on about. Not wether gold is tackyer than silver! XD

mudkiprulz October 5th, 2007 5:09 PM

gold. i dunno why, but gold. i checked, and now their tied:O

But the Lugia in gold doesn't have aeroblast! That's what makes lugia so awesome :rambo:

Mewtwo42 October 5th, 2007 5:55 PM

Aeroblast is one of the only reasons I like Lugia better than Ho-oh. Besides the fact that Lugia's stats are better, it's cooler, and it can learn Psychic.

Just look at it. ^

Amen, that's the sole reason i bought silver....i don't know why, but I've always thought Ho-oh looked kind of stupid...but that's just me....

Mewtwo42 October 5th, 2007 6:09 PM

Yeah, me too. With its rainbowy colors. It was too bright.

it looks like a flying rainbow rooster :P....it looks more appetizing than it does powerful....

Mewtwo42 October 5th, 2007 6:17 PM

Um...ok.

The only reason I got Silver was because of Lugia.

Anxiety. October 5th, 2007 7:32 PM

Ok. Look. What i'm getting at is, wait... SINCE WHEN DID THIS ALL BECOME ABOUT LOOKS! Sorry, Sorry. If you only like it because of areobalst than you don't really like lugia, you just like it's move... And for stats. What part of LV.70 (As in HIGHER than LV.40) Don't you get! A LV.70 will have better stats than a LV.40! I think Ho-oh is awsome. There are billions of phycic legendarys (Espcially now because of DP!) And there are only, like, two fire legendarys (Ho-oh and Moltres) So yeah. Its a rarer legendary. I love Lugia just the same as Ho-oh. And anyway, can't you just get a move touter to teach Lugia areoblast?

And I like bright colours

Mewtwo42 October 5th, 2007 7:39 PM

Yeah, but a trained pokemon is stronger than a wild one, and the Lv.70 one doesn't have aeroblast. There weren't move tutors back in the 2nd gen. days. And yes, there are WAY too many psychic legendaries these days. There's nothing wrong with bright colors...It's just, that they hurt my eyes.

Anxiety. October 5th, 2007 7:56 PM

Well, Train the LV.70 lugia. Doesn't take a rcoket scientist.

And... AEROBLAST IS THE ONLY MOVE IN POKEMON! THERE ARE OTHER BRILLIANT MOVES!

Improfane October 6th, 2007 5:35 AM

Rhiannon-Chan, I hope you realise that trained Pokemon are always stronger than wild Pokemon.

If what you say that Lugia in Silver is at level 40 or so rather than 70 in Gold is true (I am not questioning you, I really have no idea -- I never got that far..)

If somebody on Silver caught a Lugia and trained it to level 70
Then somebody caght a level 70 in Gold.

The Silver Lugia would have high stats even at the same level. This is why I do not think the level advantage is a reasonable argument. I'd say if you like Hoho, get Silver so you can train it yourself.

I'm not referring to the attacks the trainer taught it or whatever attacks are learned from 40-70. It's all about training yourself leads to better stats and effort values.

No need to get all mad. It's just that Aeroblast looks really cool.
@Improfane: There were no EV's back then.

@Improfane: There were no EV's back then.
Are you sure about that? I'm sure Effort Values were in the very original games.

Mewtwo42 October 6th, 2007 1:41 PM

No, I'm pretty sure they weren't in Gold and Silver. I don't know, I was like 7 or 8 when they came out...I didn't know anything about that stuff, so I just think that there were no Effort Values. There wasn't a lot in Silver and Gold.

Zanacross October 6th, 2007 1:47 PM

I think evs were in silver & gold because shinys had like set values i think.
not sure about that.

Notice how people say gold and silver rather then silver and gold.

Mewtwo42 October 6th, 2007 1:54 PM

i don't think shinies had set values. They were just stronger than regular pokemon.

Ye thats what i mean they had set values so thats why they were stronger.

Mewtwo42 October 6th, 2007 2:15 PM

Oh....well then I'm really not sure if they had EV's....
It was a long time ago, though.

Zanacross October 6th, 2007 2:16 PM

Ye tell me about it

on second thoughts dont.

Improfane October 6th, 2007 3:53 PM

I think you people are mistaking deter values and effort values.

I was under the impression that all the Pokemon games have individual values and effort values. IV determine how strong a Pokemon really is. Effort values determine the stat increase depending what you fight.

Shinies have a range of possible deter values.

i know what Effort Values are. Which is why I don't think Silver/Gold didn't have them.
It seems too advanced for the Metal Gen. games.

Samuel.Olu October 7th, 2007 10:55 PM

Silver plainly because i've never played Gold XD

Lord_Sesshoumaru October 8th, 2007 12:58 AM

Gold version because Gold's graphics of the pokemon are better than Silver's...

destinedjagold October 8th, 2007 1:11 AM

I do think Silver is better than Gold, though. It's just what I think.
Well.., my first reason is that I'm a Lugia fan, so I would prefer to catch a lower level Lugia so I could have no problems leveling it up to my desire.., and it has its signature attack, which in Gold, doesn't...
Also, Silver has Skarmory, one of my fav. pkmns.
and the pkmns in silver are looking more cooler than in Gold.

oh well.., good day all.

Improfane October 8th, 2007 9:53 AM

RBY has vitamins

Vitamins increase effort values. The colour generation (RBY) had vitamins, meaning that effort values existed.

*The metal generation is my favourite of them all. I find Pearl/Diamond Pokemon are lame. GSC started all the new features off!

Mewtwo42 October 8th, 2007 11:44 AM

Wow!!!! You're right....huh...Well Silver's still better...and I don't remember how we got into that discussion...0_o

Zanacross October 8th, 2007 11:45 AM

meh whys it always tied?
meep

Mewtwo42 October 8th, 2007 11:47 AM

Honestly...I don't know. It started out that Gold was winning, then Silver, and so on until it pretty much was a tie for like....EVER...It really surprised me.

Zanacross October 8th, 2007 11:49 AM

Silvers winning now.woot for silver

Mewtwo42 October 8th, 2007 11:54 AM

Yep. Winning by ONE. Woo Hoo! 8D

Cabellero© October 17th, 2007 4:00 AM

I would personally say both... it's hard to pick between two games when both are from the same generation... If I were to pick one, I would say Gold. (though, I voted for Silver in the Poll -- whoops!)

Anxiety. October 19th, 2007 11:37 AM

Ok, look, i'm a strong debater. I wont give up, but i'll leave it before there is a war between me and Mewtwo42 (Hehe)

I understand why you guys like silver. I''m not fussed and I never have been. So, well done, you have stopped me from debating fully. (That takes one hell of a person)

Zanacross October 19th, 2007 11:40 AM

silver is winning by 2 im so happy gretest da of my life.

Kitori_theTeamAquaSuicune October 19th, 2007 3:47 PM

Lets see...
I'm definitely going for silver because:
A) It's what got me into the Pokemon Fever
B) It was the first Pokemon Game I've ever received
C) Lugia and Vulpix plz

joey7891 October 20th, 2007 3:12 PM

silver cause thats the one i beat =D

Zarluxan October 24th, 2007 12:03 PM

Silver. I loved the graphics better than golds and Aeroblast which you can only get from a silver Lugia is better than sacred fire from a gold Ho-oh.

Mewtwo42 October 24th, 2007 5:30 PM

Hmm....at first, people all started to say Gold was better. Now more people are saying Silver is better....wierd. Good....but wierd.

Shortybt15 October 29th, 2007 12:28 PM

i really couldnt care less... but i bought gold... so gold is better :)

Mewtwo42 October 29th, 2007 5:52 PM

Yeah, this topic is getting a little old.
I think most people would agree that Silver is better.
Well, according to the polls.

Houndoom666 October 29th, 2007 6:04 PM

Gold. I think Gold was cooler cuz I got gold first, and It was like the only think I did for like 6 months. And when I got Silver, I wasnt as impressed.

Mewtwo42 October 29th, 2007 6:08 PM

Gold is the more dominant of the two/three. I don't know why. Why weren't you impressed with Silver. There's nothing to not like about it.

its not.

it's actually not so great at attacking. i think gold's sprites are better. after all, crystal's sprites are mostly taken from gold

bitter_doom November 1st, 2007 4:18 AM

pokemon silver all the way

i think silver is better because...well ts just that when i got my first pokemon game it was silver.. i was amazed cus i got it from a pawn broker and i had like 700 chicoratias ^_^ but then i didn't know what the hell that was...and then one day i brought it to school and a chinnese kid (no lie) gave me a celebi witch i was wraped cus i knew what that was... AND not to mention tyranitar haha but yeah so thats my vote :)

spenceroone3 November 4th, 2007 10:30 PM

I don't really have a favourite. I just always pick gold because more people seem to have it. :D

sainsaw November 5th, 2007 12:52 PM

I liked gold more, because I always go for those colors (red, gold, ruby, pearl)

-Jinx- November 5th, 2007 2:47 PM

Silver.
Even though when I acutally played the G/S/C generation games I only had Gold.

Oni Link November 5th, 2007 3:55 PM

Silver, because although Ho-Oh is ok, I love Lugia.
at the time I also preferred it because I wanted to be different, thinking that everyone would naturally prefer the more valued metal, Gold. :)

EmpoleMew November 5th, 2007 4:20 PM

Silver Version because I like Lugia better. Ho-oh is good, but Fire/Flying does not look good when you're looking at Hydro Pump and the 4x Ancientpower. Plus, Aeroblast is pure pwnage over Sacred Fire.

Improfane November 6th, 2007 8:57 AM

I'm apologising since I made a fatal error in my previous posts!

Mewtwo42, I'm sorry for misleading you. It turns out that EVs do not exist in RBY and vitamins actually increase a stat by one each time they are used.

Even though crystal is best i like Gold you can get Ho-oh.

Chibi - Dalgia_X November 8th, 2007 1:17 AM

Silver all the Way for me

Sprites are way better than Gold and Lugia knows Aero Blast in Silver too

so GO SILVER

(Crystal kicks both their asses ^^)

VEC November 8th, 2007 4:57 AM

Silver, I like Lugia better and Silver I got before Gold

Shadow Byte November 8th, 2007 5:17 AM

I'd have to go with silver, partly because of Lugia, and partly because It was the first one I ever played/owned... Aeroblast rules

Godot November 11th, 2007 9:35 AM

I loved Silver because Lugia owns, and I got Silver because my best friend already had Gold :P
