Agility question
In pokemon red/blue, when u fight lance at the elite 4, how is it that his dragonair/dragonite use agility twice in a row? I've tried to duplicate this effect with my zapdos but I can never seem to do it, and I KNOW that my zapdos at level 70 has superior speed to a level 55 dragonair. I thought, hmmm, maybe i'll try facing a lv.4 ratatta, still, same results, i agility and then its my opponents turn. I guess what i'm asking is, how is it that agility is utilized in the manner as lance's dragonair, AND if thats not possible, then whats the purpose of agility, I mean, from what i've seen so far, its an attack that should be great in theory, but in practice is actually quite crummy.

u don't need to use it more than once. I breed an Empoleon w/ agility and transfered it to my brother's pearl (and he started out w/ turtwig) and at the part were u team up w/ ur rival The first move my bro used was agility and when his rival switched to inferape (that was the same lvl as my bros empoleon) and Emopleon was able to out run inferape

One Agility is doubling the speed of your pokemon. Which is why pokemon that have normally slow speed and get agility suddenly become powerhouses (Metagross, Empoleon etc)

Ah, I appreciate your alls responses, but im still not quite sure if I get it. Like what i've heard from other people, they can seem to agility once, and then gain another turn and presumably do another attack, if this was the nature of agility, then it would be quite an amazing attack, coupled with thunderwave, it would be phenomenal, however based on what you all are telling me, I believe that my understanding of how agility is used may be flawed, but on the other hand, lance's dragonair was able to attack twice, one agility, followed by another. Therefore, theoretically speaking, shouldn't i be able to do that too? not necessarily use agility twice, but rather agility once and then follow up with another attack? OR does agility only really benefit slow pokemon? (If that's the case, how come only the fast/relatively fast pokemon learn agility? what's the use?) Anyways, thanks again for ur alls responses

From your description, I believe he went second when he first used Agility, and then used Agility again. You may have been using a multiple turn move (Fly, Solarbeam, Dig) so you may not of realised that you were in fact moving twice
