well adamant is not the best.. but you will want to rebreed for calm/bold/modest

Anti August 15th, 2007 12:30 PM

Make sure the parents have good IVs. The everstone trick is recommended.

adamant bulbasaur isn't the best. with its best moves being special and is sp.att base stat being better than its att base stat, adamant bulbasaur is inferior to modest/bold/calm in every way. adamant bulbasaurs were actually pretty good in 3rd gen when sludge bomb was physical, but now that it's a special, bulbasaur's only options are seed bomb and earthquake.

Here's a proposal for adamant bulbasaur...
[email protected]
adamant
252hp/138def/120sdef
-sleep powder/substitute
-sword dance/curse
-seed bomb
-earthquake/leech seed

the ev's make it bulky so it can stand a couple of hits. sleep powder and substitute helps it set up sword dance to sweep away. curse is an option over sword dance but you'll want less defense ev's in that case. it sucks that it can't even get leaf blade but this is about the best you can do.

ooh Sleep Shuffling is really annoying, Use Sleep Powder/Leech seed.

Super Puppy August 15th, 2007 2:20 PM

Just an item tip here, but if you plan to keep the Sunny Day/ Solar Beam combo then you should give it a Heat Rock. It helps more than I thought it would (tried it on my Arcanine).

yes, cuz i'm sure adamant bulbasaur would love to use solar beam. -_- solar beam is a special attack and adamant nature hinders sp.att.

Azonic August 15th, 2007 2:25 PM

Adamant Venusaur should stick with Seed Bomb. Sunny Day provides a weaker Solarbeam and risk to a super charged Flamethrower.

Super Puppy August 15th, 2007 2:39 PM

i thought you wer going to re-breed it; that's why I said that.

At times, when the opponent can outrun you and use Earthquake/Aerial Ace/Fire Punch, itll be bad, have a Physical wall for this, Venusaur has a decent Sp. Defense

MegaDitto August 15th, 2007 3:56 PM

With Adamant Bulbasaur, Earthquake is a benefit. Though it is quite unknown the wonders it can do.

-Seed Bomb
-Curse
-Leech Seed
-Sleep Powder

If you decide on a bold venasaur, here's what i have:

Venasaur @ Black Sludge
Bold
EV Spread: 252 HP, 120 Def, 136 SD

Moveset

Sleep Powder
Leech Seed
Synthesis
Sludge Bomb

Abdul August 15th, 2007 4:26 PM

seems like rebreeding is the best option

Anti August 15th, 2007 4:34 PM

In that case, do you want a modest moveset?

[email protected]
Modest Nature
EVs: 252 Special Attack, not sure on the rest
~Sludge Bomb
~Energy Ball
~Sleep Powder (I always have it on my venusaur)
~Nasty Plot

If it can't learn nasty plot, I recommend Hidden Power. I'm no Venusaur expert, so the others will be more useful than me.

Myoko-chan August 15th, 2007 5:13 PM

Err..If none of you guys knew, Earthquake is physical.(Yea...stupid..I know)

I would recommend this
Code:

Venusaur @Leftovers
Modest Nature
252 Sp.Atk 252 Sp.Def 6 HP
-Growth
-Sludge Bomb
-Energy Ball
-Amnesia

What you have there is a special tank, not something I would entirely prefer due to the limited moves the Venusaur can learn.
Venusaur has nothing good against it's weaknesses, so all you can do is protect your team from special sweepers, using Amnesia on the first few turns, and Growth next, if you have enough HP.

Shiraishi August 15th, 2007 5:51 PM

According to pop warrior bulba can learn nasty plot ._.

c_dog August 15th, 2007 6:14 PM

OMG. bulbasaur can't learn nasty plot at all. nasty plot is an exclusive move which very few pokemon have.

bulbasaur has growth, which is similar to nasty plot but it only raises its special attack one stage. growth is inferior to both calm mind and nasty plot and is rarely used.
