Level up to level 55 and the E4 should be no prob. Then you need to work on this team. I just posted mine, and while I know many of those pokemon you can't get in ruby, it should give you a good idea of a 3rd gen team. Surf actually is a good move, but the other HMs are useless. Make sure swampert has ice beam. VERY important.

I'll start my Emerald team... |
What do you plan on using? Really, some members of your team need to be replaced. You'll be rebreeding anyways, so you might as well get the best pokemon you can. Is this gonna be a OU or UU team? Or are you just using whatever pokemon you want, which is fine too?
EDIT: You can't rebreed Swampert without ditto, which you can only get in emerald. Pray your swampert is a female... |
OU? UU? What is that? But anyways I think I'll get the Pokemon I want.
|
Oh boy. OU is overused and UU is underused. ubers are thwe mega cheap, usually legendary pokemon, BL is borderline, and NU is never used. You must view the tier list. Go to smogon.com and go to "ever grande city" and there's a tier list. That should help.
|
Well .... it is a good team I'd admit that. But, the strongest pokemon with Steven (champion) would be Metagross Lv. 58
Perhaps a fire type I might suggest? Or raise your Aggron more. IMO you still need a little more training. :-D |

[email protected] guess Jolly/Adamant Nature EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP ~Dragon Dance ~Earthquake (I pray you didn't use that TM) ~Aerial Ace/HP Flying ~Brick Break and [email protected] Bold Nature EVs: 252 HP, 200 Defense, 58 Special Defense ~Recover ~Surf ~Ice Beam ~Mirror Coat Too bad you can't utilize resttalk milotic in ruby...still, mirror coat is nasty-deadly. also [email protected] band Jolly/Adamant Nature EVs: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 6 HP ~Megahorn ~Brick Break ~Eathquake ~HP Ghost or you could try Agiligross (Metagross)@Leftovers Adamant Nature EVs: some in speed, 252 attack, rest in HP and/or defense ~Meteor Mash ~Agility ~Earthquake ~Shadow Ball also consider [email protected]overs? Timid Nature EVs: 252 Speed, 252 Special Attack, 6 Special Defense ~Calm Mind ~Psychic ~Elemental Punch ~Elemental Punch another good poke is [email protected]/Shell Bell Jolly Nature EVs: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 6 HP ~Spore ~Focus Punch ~HP Ghost/HP Rock ~Leech Seed/Sludge Bomb/Mach Punch and last but not least [email protected] Impish Nature EVs: 252 HP, 252 Defense, 6 Attack ~Drill Peck ~Whirlwind/Roar ~Spikes ~Toxic And those are some good pokemon to try. Not all work well together, but those are some good pokemon to use. EDIT: Ignore the weird link. No idea how it got there. |
I used the Tm Earthquake for Flygon... And Salamence is difficult to raise, but I'll try him with Flamethrower instead of Earthquake, for Ice-types. What do you say?
Feebas is super-difficult to find... To have Metagross I have to beat the league, too bad... For Alakazam I have to trade, but a Kadabra isn't bad. Nothing to say about the others, I could try them. |
Milotic @:Leftovers
Trait: Marvel Scale Bold Nature Ice Beam Surf Rest Sleep Talk or, Milotic @:Burn Orb Trait: Marvel Scale Bold Nature Surf Ice Beam Recover Hypnosis. |
This is for ruby, not D/P. Honestly, I'd restart if you don't have EQ. You NEED EQ on any team. No flamethrower on Salamence. However, you could use the 3rd gen version of specsmence
[email protected] Modest Nature EVs: 252 Speed, 252 Special Attack, 6 HP ~Hydro Pump ~Fire Blast ~Crunch ~Dragon Claw Special Mence. Rebreed swampert if you can since it learns EQ through level-up. They need to be EV trained. That is a MUST. |

How do I give Salamence Hydro Pump? The other attacks are alright. I'll breed Swampert.

Kingdra to be exact. Or Seadra/Horsea/Milotic. I recommend horsea, it's the fastest. So, you've added special mence. Will take people by surprise, including myself. How about your walls? That is a high priority.
|
Horsea is difficult to find... but it's worth of it. But Salamence learns Hydro Pump through breeding? But must it be with a Pokémon that has Hydro Pump or not?
I'll give up breeding Swampert. Hatched two Psyducks and one Marill with that, maybe it is because Swampert is a male. I'll add Skarmory to the team (Not only because it may be a wall, it is because Steel-types are my faves, too) Heracross will be added later. |
Okay, horsea are found with a super rod west between pacifidog and slateport. They aren't common, but you should find one in about tem minutes. Make sure it's a male. It learns Hydro Pum at lvel 43 or something like that. Don't evolve it to get it hydro pump faster. I already posted movesets for hera and skarm. Now you need a special wall, maybe grumpig?
|
I don't know... Isn't there any Pokemon else? I don't like Grumpig.
|
Oh, plenty. Milotic...milotic. Ludicolo, though you can't get it in ruby, only sapphire. Gardevoir has very good sp. D. Same with bulky gyrados (recommended). Cradily is very good, make sure it's female to breed for egg moves. Dusclops has a whopping 130 base stat in both defenses, but has worthless HP. IT can still be good. I recommend bulky gyrados, though that doesn't really count as a special wall. I recommend cradily. Amnesia+mirror coat+suction cups=dominance. My vote is cradily. Oh, Regice as well.
|
Cradily is awesome and I love him so much :3 Cradily needs Recover ya know ._.
|
Cradily... If I haven't chose Claw Fossil and got Anorith...
Bulky Gyarados? I know it is a Gyarados, but what is "Bulky"? Regice? Hm... I haven't opened its cave yet. Dusclops... The problem is the HitPoints. |
On dusky, I mentioned that earlier. If you haven't chosen the root fossil, I've run dry on suusetions. Her's cradily:
[email protected] Bold/Impish Nature EVs: 252 HP, 232 Special Defense, 126 Defense ~Recover ~HP Grass/Rock ~Barrier ~Amnesia It can't get roared away, so it is a really, really good wall. |
What is the "Bulky" part on the Bulky Gyarados you mentioned?
|
The EV spread. Richard Steel knows it. I don't, but it looked very good. You'll need EQ though. If you have to start over your game, oh well. You NEED EQ. Really, it only takes about a week to beat the game only playing it a couple hours a day. What about Cradily?
|
I have Earthquake on Flygon and Swampert will learn it on Level 50-60.
Cradily is good, but I have chosen Claw Fossil I think... Let's see. EDIT: Yeah, I chose Claw Fossil, but no Anorith :D EDIT AGAIN: Isn't Anorith/Armaldo a good special wall? |
No! 80 base special defense and 75 base HP. Armaldo is a slower scizor with higher special attack, but it still sucks. You're in a pickle. As for EQ, you can't use Flygon and Swmpert because they're not EV trained. So you are basically limited to donphan as a EQ user:
[email protected] Adamant Nature EVs: 252 Attack, 132 Defense, 126 HP ~EQ ~Rapid Spin ~Roar ~Return/Counter I dunno, that's my donphan moveset. There are most likely better ones, but this will do for now. |
