Shiny Starters.

I picked up my DS and found my fire red aerlier today and decided to start a new game. After reading many forums and seeing how rare shiny starters are I have been trying to get one.

My question is that when the small picture comes up whan you press 'a' infront of the pokeball, will it show as shiny or will i have to check it after i take it.

thanks.

Trainer Red August 23rd, 2007 9:34 AM

I've never gotten a shiny starter so I'm not sure but I think you'll have to check it after talking the pokemon to know if it's shiny. The pictures they show when you click on them are generic pictures and thus are always the same. As I said I'm not sure though.

GrayLuna August 23rd, 2007 3:59 PM

i think you have to check it or wait till you battle you're rival

No. It's like finding a shiny legendary. They still appear the colors that they should normally be, but once you get into the battle screen they will be shiny.

Yes.. this is absolutely correct. It will show normal (non-shiny) sprite pics but when you verse your rival, you'll find out. Hope this helps! :)

Meh, it actually takes a VERY, VERY long time in the search of a shiny starter. I'd dream for one. :D

thanks. i was just looking at the pictures for like an hour but then i thought i would check.

It's hard for me to even get a female starter!

A shiny starter would take you days.

Sweet Candace August 24th, 2007 1:22 PM

I'd restarted my Pearl and they gave me a female Piplup ! Wierd, huh ?

Random August 24th, 2007 9:33 PM

Well its not that weird, you had 12.5 percent out of hundred to get a female starter. As for shinies, bah, it would takes you days if your lucky, 1/8192 to be precise.

Moi. August 25th, 2007 5:54 AM

shiny bulbasaur now. took me 13 hours of resetting the game XD

Sweet Candace August 25th, 2007 6:09 AM

13 hours ? Juat take your luck breeding Pokemon and hoep you get a Shiny then !

Moi. August 25th, 2007 6:20 AM

to get far enough to breed pokemon in FR takes more than 13 hours for me anyway so i guess i was just lucky to get it this fast. my bro took 11 days and didnt get one on Diamond.

ShadowTails August 25th, 2007 6:29 AM

I still have yet to get a Shiny on Fire Red... I've played through it 4 times and only saw the ones that are in the trainer tower that are supposed to be shiny...

And I was resetting for a few months to get a Shiny Bulbasaur and just gave up and got one that was good natured.

Moi. August 25th, 2007 6:40 AM

Months?!
wow i guess i am lucky. and yeah this is my first shiny in FR aswell.

Azonic August 25th, 2007 7:06 AM

Well then, there is an easier way. Find a Ditto and put it in the Day Care, and start breeding your pokemon like crazy. Its faster. And you can do more Pokemon at one time.

even so you still have a very low chance of actually getting a shiny Pokemon and you end up with hatching so many eggs and probably all of them aren't even going to be a single shiny. So the best thing to do is cheat

Well, that's not really good advice XP

For me, I only have shinies for collection, since shinies never have good IVs or correct natures. =(

The Infinite Devil Machine August 30th, 2007 2:25 AM

I guess I'm just lucky. In Sapphire, I received a shiny female Torchic on my first playthrough, Lol.

Xoo August 30th, 2007 2:55 AM

I'm to lazy, so I cheat for shinies. Thing is, that cheat can mess up your game.... So I don't hardly use it anymore.

Moi. August 30th, 2007 3:56 AM

Yeah cheating sucks. I got angry at my game shark for destroying my last emerald save so I stompd it. No more cheating for me. Anyway now I have a shiny Venesaur*

Xoo August 30th, 2007 1:26 PM

Well, congrats on the Shiny Venasaur! Good natures and stuff?

Metakazam August 30th, 2007 6:42 PM

I have spent at least 4 hours at one point trying to find a shiney starter with no luck which is exactly what you'll need luck and lost of it.

Tayng August 30th, 2007 8:29 PM

I gave up on getting a shiny starters. You guys must be really dedicated to keep trying. I salute you all!
