Dub roxs. Teeheehee
Sorry but I don't really understand the reason to watch Pokemon or many animes subbed. I mean compare to other animes not much is changed or cut. So they change a little bit of the script when they dubbed it but it isn't much different or any dramistic changes to the episodes storyline. Even when 4Kids had the dub there wasn't really any cut out scenes or anything. Just mostly paint edit and some script changes here or there but it was still the same thing. I may watch it sub if PUSA treats the dub like the Tokyo Mew Mew/Mew Mew Power dub, which was still a good dub even with all the cuts and rearranging they did, just to see the difference but with an anime like Pokemon I see no real need to see it sub. It isn't worth reading the little words. It is too hard to focus on them and the picture at the same time. Teeheeheehee |
Dubbed of course lol hehehe
|
I watched the dubbed because Japanese Pokemon and English Pokemon are so close to each other when it comes to episodes that I can wait to watch the episodes. its not like a large amout of episode gap like Naruto or Bleach so I can wait

i have never even seen the subtitled ones. i have only seen the dubbed ones. i can't even tell it's not in the original language!
|
I prefer the subbed, but watch mostly the dubbed. I'm not a big fan of the English voices, and occasionaly the script seems... awkward. The subbed rolls much more smoothly.

Yes, the dub obviously does not even compare to the Raw, people who watch the dub don't watch the raw for a couple of reasons; #1: language barrier: i.e. they don't want to listen to a language they don't comprehend, #2: Favortism; I don't know if thats the great word to use however, basically the intent of that word is meant that they have been watching the dub so long that its too hard to switch over; or #3: They do not possess knowledge to obtain the raw themselves, utatane, winny, share, etc. The Japanese Level used in the Raw is so trivial that even if you do not even understand dialogue, it has no bearing on the outcome or plotline 90% of the time and is very simple at worst. Although I've slacked back on watching PM in its entirity, after I was introduced to the raw by a few of my staff members, I haven't seen a Dub episode since, which has been almost 5 years. The last time I saw a dub I believe was around the first time I registered at PC, which was around May 2003. Everyone soooo loves the Paint edits, lmao. |

Okies well I can see where you stand on but I guess I express my opinions abit more. First of all it sounds like from your post that you are talking about the 4Kids dub back when they dub the show a half a year ago. I don't believe 4Kids has ever, execpt for the first banned episode which was Beauty and the Beach have they cut out scenes. As of episodes they have skipped they did that for several reasons which includes racial issues or hazarded issues like in the Electric Solidor Porygon. The last episode that was skipped didn't even have to do with the dubbing company at all but instead it was skipped by the Japanese Station before it was set to air which was Shaking Island Battle. Still as of right now PUSA hasn't skipped any episodes yet. Still most of the episodes they skip don't really effect the main badge story line except for the The Legend of Dratini and the last contest episodes in Hoenn but only because they played them out of place. As of paint edit there really haven't been any that I am aware of since PUSA took control of the dub. All the paint edits of riceballs and the renaming of riceballs completely stopped when PUSA took control of the dub. The matter of VAs is mostly personal opinion and I personality like the VAs. Enough said. Teeheehee As of the music edits. I don't mind them at all because well when I see the dub I don't really know nor have I ever heard of the original music but really I don't mind the music edits. I mean I know that music helps sets the tone but really it is no big. As of pun titles. Some times they are good sometimes they are bad. Teeheehee Nothing I can do about them but really I don't really like some of the Japanese titles because they seem so broken up and everything. Also recently I have seen a raw episode, Champion Cynthia Appears!. It was nice and I can't wait till the episode is dubbed so I can understand a lot of what is said. Still I don't think I would start watching just sub because I just love the feeling to see the episodes on TV then on my computer screen. Also I have found a site which compares the dub and the original and really it isn't really much at all. Recently since PUSA took over the dub it just been music and some dialouge. Nothing too big or major to change the plotline. I will keep my opinion on watching the dub even after seeing it raw because to me there isn't much difference between the two and expectully since PUSA took over the dubbing. I mean to me paint edits and music changes are so minor that it still the same thing. Changing a rice ball to a sandwich isn't no big because it is still food or calling it a donut is no difference. Teeheehee I be concern that if they call a riceball a juice box or something which I just find funny if they did. Teeheehee. Then the scprit changes are so bad as long as they just don't change the whole conversation into something completely different. I don't know why but maybe the reason I tolurate the dub so much is because I have seen animes that have had so much more changes and cuts and redones then pokemon have ever had like Mew Mew Power/Tokyo Mew Mew and One Piece, which I do love both the dub and the original of both animes. When you actually think about it when you compare Pokemon to Mew Mew Power/Tokyo Mew Mew and One Piece so really there isn't much to talk about when it comes to dubbing of Pokemon. Teeheehee. That is one huge post!!! Teeheehee I am sorry if this is a bit big but I thought I just make my views and reasoning a bit more clear. Teeheeheehee |
Hm. I prefer the dubs over the subs actually. I like to be able to see the entire scene rather than have to quickly scan the subtitles and possibly misread it. D:
As for 4kids' horrible dubbing skills...well...I've seen what 4kids did to Mew Mew Power. I was disappointed at the number of cut scenes to be honest. I've never seen MMP un dubbed so I dont know what I missed but, I can tell. But even so I did still enjoy MMP. I just didnt like all the cuts. Same goes for One Piece. They butchered it. I was able to cobble together an actual storyline but it had gaping holes a ile wide because of the heavy edits. XP As for Pokemon, 4kids didnt ruin it too badly. But they did cut some pieces out that made the story kinda umm...well confusing at times. But I think that PUSA is doing a waaay better job of dubbing the Pokemon anime now. I just wish I could find some dubbed eps of D/P. XD |
okay i dont think it would do much good to "quote" ur messege since it took up sooo much room but yeah. u remember the first movie? that gay Brother song thing during the great pokemon battle? THat didnt fit at all. Pokemon r killing eachother and 4kids played THAT song. Thats a horrible choice. They couldve just kept the normal battle music in the background. it had no japanese words. so y change it!? and theres a reason 4kids lost their right to dub pokemon. because they dubbed it so horribly. And 4kids dubbs anime horribly. i dont think they're noticed it yet either. which is pretty sad cuz a LOT of people think so. and i think its horrible that they put the OLD AND GOOD VA's on contract so they cant work at PUSA. but the VAs R allowed to work at other companys. like the one who dubbed Comic Party(or whatever the name is; my friend watches it) because misty's english VA plays a girl in that and so does Amy's english VA from sonic x. 4kids is a horrible company.lol i just sorta completely changed hte subject to hating 4kids sorry. but theres nothing in the world i hate more than 4kids. and i mean it. (i wnana tell it to their faces sooooo baddlllyyy)

Yeah.....If I were you I would cut out the word whore in your post.
Anyways, it's not a problem for me to read the subtitles and watch the action in the subs. It's really not that hard in my opinion. Jordan. |
Well, 4kids DO suck at dubbing, but Pokemon doesn't really have anything to dull down. With the exeption of the First Movie (Lol, Music change.) they really haven't changed much of the material in the anime. Though, it was stupid of America to stir uneeded controversy. >_>
But still, I watched teh subbed. Dub's just too much for me to swallow. |
they have a lot of puns in the english show though. it gets sooo annyoing and old. like the 9th movie. wtf was with all the diamond and pearl puns by team rocket? those were completely unneeded and not funny at all. it do find it funny they were in yellow spaghetti things at the end of that movie though. aha super saiyan ash.

I rather watch it in Dubbed then Subtitled.
So I could understand it better. The only time I watch Pokemon in Subtitled if it's a unreleased episode. |
Subbed, they dub is really bad.
I prefer subs with pretty much all anime too, desu ~ |
