Holy Dog Poo thats alot!Shuckle's defenses max out at 614!

Persona September 15th, 2007 7:03 PM

I can guarantee it'll still survive even without max defence, as I've tried it out myself. My first try was giving it max HP and defence, but as the result, there was always a mixed sweeper throwing a surprise special attack right at Steelix and resulting an OHKO. It wouldn't hurt to be on the safe side.

Shuckle has great defences and you can switch out on something that resists it. It's most useful in teams that rely on resistances rather than walls, in my opinion.

Very good point. However, shuckle fails because of the movepool, and 20 base HP isn't great either...max defense steelix has worked very well for me, though some SpD EVs could work...but only having about 16 won't do too much...there are several spreads for steelix, depends on the moveset for me. A steelix with rest can have more attack EVs for example...then again...never mind. Depends on your personal preference I guess.

Holy run-on-sentance/paragraph.

But I get what your saying I can't resist 548 Defense its to.....Amazing. In all honesty though, why not max out Defense with a Brave or Sassy Nature. It'll give you an extra boost in eather Special Defense or Attack. And you can still max out Steelix's defense at almost 500.

If you go relaxed though I'd only give it around 100 Defense EV's. As tempting as it is, you can be more versatile if you spread the love. :)

I'd use Body Slam over Return, just if people like paralysis support and damage done in the process. Honestly, Snorlax was really a great pokémon in every gen, but I feel as if D/P hasn't done it much good. There are much greater special attackers, and Snorlax didn't really improve in this gen. I'm positive it's still useful, but it has come down from the dominating force it was in the past generations.

Correct. In fact, with nasty plot and choice specs, snorlax needs to buf up those special defense EVs...pretty much sucks if you run into a nasty plot azelf...also, that snorlax is walled by gengar...meaning all your cursing up will vanish. At least consider crunch if you do use curselax...wait, weren't we talking about steelix? Steelix does need at least 500 defense IMO...then you can spread the EVs around more, but steelix has to be able to survive.

I say that you need to Max out on Def cause if ya' run into a Mixedmince packing Fthrower even if you have a little Sp.Def EV's then your still gonna die!So I say Max out the def.
