How many friends do you have?
How many best friends do you have? I'm not talking about the huge group of friends you hang out with, how many friends have you known long ebough and done enough stuff with to truly call them your BEST FRIENDS...
Note: PC people don't count, you haven't met them... |
I chill with the same people so thats....7 people... But I have lots of other friends... pretty much the whole freshman class that belong to my Set
|
Like 20 of my friends. Including my girlfriend

I don't have many really close friends at all. I have a lot of people that I talk to and stuff... but I'm not really close friends with them. And I'm not really sure how close I am to my "best" friends anymore. But I'd say I have 3 or 4 really close friends. I think I really only have 1 best friend though... I don't really know though. I never have time to spend with them anymore...
|
Two, possibly three...and they're really people who I just hang with sometimes...I can't call them friends in a deep sense because they really don't share my dreams and aspirations, but they are friends...I can't say I get along with anyone as much as I'd like to =/ The one person I could have classified as a friend in my definition is gone now ._.
|
I lost a few of my friends because Green house and Tan house were fighting, so anyone popular green-houser who doesnt go out with anyone in Tan or blue is now out of the set and down in the slums with everyone else. They deserved it, they started with us.
|
Ummm… 4 or 6, depending if you count my bro and Jared.
|
Family counts...though that's an iffy subject...
I have 3 best friends...I'm a really luck guy... |
i have 2 best friends. we're brothers with different mothers
(and fathers) |
I hang out with a lot of people, and some of them I just hang out with, I wouldn't call them BEST friends, but they're all good friends of mine. I don't like to us the term BEST friend, all of my friends are really close to me, I could never choose one best friend or two out of all of them, I love all my friends ._.'''
~DragonTrainer:dragonite |
Thats hard....ummmm.....5. Two of them I dont live in the same town with, but I used to always hang out with them. And the other three, are my three best friends.
|
I have 3 friends i think - i just need 2 remember their names j/k
I know alot of people though - by face only i am in fact really not good with names ^_^ |
I have exactly 1 friend. none else, I don't hang with anyone else...
|
I've got to agree with DT on this one. I don't really believe in "best" friends. Friendship isn't something to be rated good, better, or best. It's just... some friends will obviously be closer than others and this gives the illusion that they're your best friends. XP
Anyway, I hang out with a fairly substantial group of people. I've got about 5 close friends in that group and the rest aren't as close, but I still really like being around them - I just don't talk as much to them so.. yeah. XP If I had to pick my closest friend, though, it'd be my friend in Halifax whom I'm going to visit at the end of June. @[email protected] I've known her for about 5-6 years now, and even though 2 of those years we've been far apart and we've been in a bunch of fights (one that lasted from Sept. of last year to January this year since I was too stubborn to apologize ._.)... but whenever we see eachother, it's never awkward or anything. It's like we pick up wherever we last left off. ^_^;; |
Dakota - How long is "long enough" to be considered a best friend. This is my first year of highschool and I knew virtually nobody in the beginning. Now I have lots of friends and they are by far the greatest people I have ever met. I would never consider anyone from my elementray school a best friend, they were the worst people in the world and I was always an outcast.
|
Hmm... likewise, I don't think how long you've known someone should affect that. =\ I mean, it'll have some impact since you'll obviously get along much better with a friend you've known for several years than with one you've only known a month. ^_^; But really, with some people you just.. "click," you know? o_O; So they can still be considered great friends even if you haven't known them for as long. :o
*wanders away since she's gonna start rambling* X3 |

You can "classify" people (this is a friend, this is an enemy, and this is a walking nightmare and so on), but you can't "rate" people (best friend, worst enemy, worst of the worst, etc). Meh... I'm strange...
I guess that I have 2 friends... (lol yes I'm a loner). Tons of acquaintances, but I only consider two of them a friend. EDIT: oops... sorry for not reading. Drop that number to one then since PC doesn't count. |
I, too, doubt you can rate friends above one another (you can only sort people you are friendly with into friends and acquaintances) but I think you might be able to rate enemies...I know for certain I have a worst enemy, far above anyone else who may just be mean or snippy in passing. An archnemesis is the one that comes to your mind when people ask you who causes more problems for you than anyone else, the first person that comes to mind at the word 'enemy'. Of course you can share enmity with others, but everyone out there usually has one particular person who hates them more than other people do or is the cause of more misery than other people are.
|
I don't agree... if rating the degrees of enmity is possible, then how come we cannot rate "amity?" O.o; Like if one works, the other will too...
Perhaps you can rate your "friends" only within yourself, deep in your heart and soul. You can't really translate it into any language, because I doubt the translation is really that accurate in comparison to what your heart says to you. I certainly keep in mind who should keep a ______ physical distance away from me (or else I'll feel uncomfortable and nervous), and that's... probably rating "friends" and "acquaintances." I dunno... it's just hard to explain. But to my personal definition of friends, I only have one (since PCers don't count) |
I have about 5 friends so yeah and they all live in my neighbor hood except one.
|
Eh...I suppose I see it that way because I consider enmity to have stronger emotions associated with it than friendship.
|
hmmm...how bout...3...or maybe 9 for each state ive lived in(3)
|
Hmm, in terms of best friends, I would have two: my sisters. We know so much about eachother, and can play along with eachother's jokes, so it's no wonder why we're best friends. I wouldn't trade them for the world!
But, if they friends have to be out of the family, I have about 2 again. Unfortunately, I hardly spend time with them anymore, so I don't know if they have changed.... Oh well! I'm having enough fun with my two awesome sisters! |
I know a lot of people that I could call my friends, but I don't know if I want to call any of them my best friends. That would be kind of mean to pick just one or two out of so many. Even though all of my friends are really nice, it's just hard to do stuff together because our interests are different. Not like that's the most important thing, but it does help if your friends like the same thing as you do. It makes it easier to enjoy the time that you spend together.
If I had to pick some that I could say that I was really close to, then it would definitely be my family members. We're all very close, and I feel the most comfortable around them. Even though this may sound wierd, I actually love to hang out with my brother. (My youngest one is only 1, so it would be hard to have much fun with him now, lol. Even though he is fun to play with, he can't talk to me about anything and stuff like that. When he's a bit older, then yeah!) My 13 year old brother likes so many of the same things as I do, (Such as Pokemon and drawing. I've never had a friend that actually really liked Pokemon.) And plus, he's really funny, and great to hang out with. We do a lot of things like climb trees and everything; my friends cannot do that! One time one of them tried to climb the fence in our backyard, and she ended up ripping part of her pants, lol. It was funny. Anyways... o.o Yeah. That's my opinion. *wonders if anyone even read that* |
Quote:
I, myself, have a "clique" of friends; but, I really don't consider any of them my friends, if you can believe it. I'm not very comfortable around them anymore like I used to, yet they include me in all of their birthday parties probably just to milk a gift out of me. Lol, I know I sound so depressing, but that's how I feel. There's only one friend I can count on that I got very close to this year and I hope we can still keep our friendship that way. I can tell her anything and we both seem to have the same point of view on a lot of things. ^_^ Like my Dad always told me: "You can only count your true friends on one hand." I really believe in that, too. I've had so many people that I thought I could trust--but it always results in some sort of a fiasco. PC-wise, I made a lot of friends here--more than I ever thought I would! I think I was a loner until February, lol. But once you get a shoe-in with Kayleigh, Kairi, and Jordan (100marios), you can become quite the celebrity around here! ^_^; That's how I made it! [/end infomerical]...heh. Anyway, I enjoy all the friends--the friends I didn't mention already, as well--I've gotten around here. [EDIT]: Aw, crud, I just noticed that PC people don't count, lol. Shows how much I paid attention! I kind of wondered why no one was mentioning anyone from PC...heh...>_< Ohwell, what was said, is said! |

*runs away from further cheek-pinching* Hehe...phew... I would love to meet all of you. It would liven up my life, that's for sure! |

Yeah... PC members are excluded from this. Though I must wonder why Dakota chose to do that... Must everything be physical to be real? =/
To be truthful, I really feel just as uncomfortable or unwilling to chat with some of the members here on PC at times... just to be pointing the truth out. Not all, but some... PC has such a great tendency to say "All of you are my best friends! *smile*" so I thought that someone should break the nice trend that may possibly be white lies O.o; |
Unfortunatly I can't make friends that easily.First, because I'm mexican
and my accent doesn't let me speak that well. And second of all, the things my classmates do are'nt my favorite things.I like watching Pokemon and playing video games. They don't.But I do have a friend that lives in Canada.(sorry if this is off topic but I had to tell this to someone) |
it's not off topic... it's perfectly fine ^_^;
And don't worry... if you think that it's hard to make friends because you're "weird," you'll be surprised at how many people in PC who are also weird in their own ways... ^_^; |
Quote:
One of my 3 best friends I've known for only 10 months...the other two I've know for nearly 10 years...it's all good... BOO ya! |
Oh gawd.. Don't even mention to me my friends. I only have two online best friends. And I have ZERO phsycal friends. The only phsyical friends I have are my family, but most barely frigging understand me. >_<; I love them a lot, but we're never on the same page. The friends at school left me, and my only best friend at school is dead. Ya all know who she is, the girl whom I grieved over in January, rememba?? --; Sorry I got pissed, but it makes me angry I don't really have anyone to love that much. But believe me guys, its horrible. I barely have anyone to talk to and I have to conceal my thoughts, my feelings inside and I barely can take them out. Urgh.. Its terrible.. Even though its horrible, I sometimes prefer not to have friends. They often end up hurting me anyway, and I don't like getting close to people, if I do. Then they'll just make me cry.
*dies* |
Well, I have my bestest best friend, Allie, the one I have known sence we were in 3rd grade. Then Nicole, who is a best friend, but not as much so as Allie, but we are still really great buddies. Finally Liana, and I proably am around her the most becuase we are in a lot of the same activites. (Track, marching band, ect.)
|
So far, I have no friends. :P

(This is Kairi, my account has NOT been hacked. I just wanted to post this while it was on my mind)
Let me start by addressing the foremost part of this poll—IRL friends. I have one friend who is very very close to me, and she’s the only person I’d consider a friend. I know other people, talk to them, yes. I’ve had friends in the past, thought the other closest one (happened to be named Andy) kind of…fell away when we stopped going to the same school since I became homeschooled. My friend and I are alike in many ways—love video games, often the same sense of humor and so on. Do we disagree? Of course! We both like Japanese subbed animé, though I love Japanese music and she abhors it. She thinks my MP3 player should be full of the songs she likes, which is mostly modern rock/rap and stuff, I prefer my video game music. We’ve never really had a _big_ fight. We get into little tiffs but never have we not broken down shortly after. That being said, now it’s time to address to other part of this poll. Yes, online friends. They _are_ different first and foremost, I’ll agree. The biggest thing of course is physical separation—you can’t seem them or laugh with them as you would someone IRL. You can’t hug them when they need it, or cry on their shoulder when you feel bad. Another problem is animosity—who knows who they are, right? However while there are differences between the two, I don’t believe the aforementioned differences are enough to make them lose their title as friend, as good as the title given to IRL ones. Is a joke really much different typed that spoken? Sure, there’s tone of voice and all but If it makes you laugh I doubt you change your laugh to accommodate how physically near them you are. I know when things happen to me, usually the first thought I have is “I can’t wait to tell *insert my IRL friend’s name here*” Of course I’ll also see things and go “Oh, Edmonton! Frosty is so lucky to live up there!” "That’s so much like Erica!” “Kayleigh would love that, I’ll have to tell her!” That sort of thing. I do a lot of things with my friends in mind—it helps me feel and do better knowing someone will support me, watch me, or take care of me. I need that, really. I feel happy when I’m with my IRL friend. We laugh, we comfort each other and we just enjoy each other’s company. Of course I adore coming online because I get those same things from my online friends! My “online life” is very important to me. It’s not my whole life—nor is my friend my whole life, but both are a large part of me. Especially lately, I feel…closer to my friends, all of them, IRL or not as of late. And it’s been a great relief to me, for which I’m very thankful for. This is, of course my opinion…and sadly all I’ve said would not be shared by my IRL friend. She’d think I’m some sort of fool for talking to people online, thinking of them offline or wanting to be in their company. And…that’s why I’m kind of glad there is a separation between online and offline friendships. My online and offline lives mean the world to me—but if they collided I’d probably be mortified trying to handle it. That’s how I feel anyways. |

What some people don't realize is that not everyone online is who they say, act, feel, react, or do stuff in how they would in real life. Now there are some people that are, of course, really nice and friendly and you'd think they're the same way in real life. But, some people are willing to say stuff online that they aren't if you were face to face. You may all think I'm loud and percoucious in real life when I meet new people, but I'm actually pretty shy around people I'm not familiar with... yep |
I have one best friend. One in the world, that i know will never tell any of my secrets, and try to hurt me. We have been best friends since fourth grade, and I love her with all of my heart. I would do anything for her, and I know she is there for me too. I wish she was in my team, hopefully next year.
|
I think if a person has...
1 best friend: That's really wierd 2 best friends: The perfect little group of buds 3 best friends: Still really good, but you probably won't always be able to do stuff together completely... 4 best friends: Crap kid... 5 best friends: ok STOP! BOO ya! |
@ Dakota: if that is so, then call me a fool who'll rather keep dreaming in a world of lies, than to wake up to a world of deceit...
|
Neither did I say that or even hint to thinking that was so of you. Don't put words in my mouth.
|
o_0, no fighting guys *cough*lookatmyeyesrollinsarcasmLOL*cough*
Oh, so I'm weird Dakota?!?! LOL, but actually i do have a group of really good friends, but I wouldn't consider them my best friends. My good friends are the kids I've known since elementary school. |
Well 5/6 of my current class are my friends. :P
If you count out of the whole world I have atleast 1,000 friends. But out of all of them there's only 3 best friends I have. |
I have a lot of friends from internet to IRL.
|
*sigh* All that typing totally ignored, as people disregard what I just said regarding online friends. Fufufufu, that’ll teach me to put time into my posts. ._.;
|
I think that your post was "ignored" not because they didn't read, but just that no one else agreed... -_-
|
Aww, I read it and I agree with you, Kairi. I kind of have that problem; none of my real-life friends enjoy most of the things that I do, and so it's nice to have friends online that you can talk to about all kinds of things! (Pokemon, other Anime, etc.) They would think that I was wierd if I told them that I do this, lol. XP But oh well, they can think that. I'm so happy to have found this website, and have joined it, because I met all of you here! And even if we haven't met, everyone here is still a real person, and there is a possibility that we could. (DT lives really close to a place that I visited in Houston. O_o He could have met me there when I went! He's been there several times. It's kind of a wierd thought, but it's also really neat. I also could have met tmbjr, if he had been at the Pokemon convention.)
And I do think about all of you a lot offline. ^_^; Especially like when I see someone's name, or I see a character that's in someone's avatar, or screen name. (Like Kairi when I play Kingdom Hearts, Chrystie when I see that girl on 'Full Metal Panic!', etc.) |
i have alot of friends but no best friend...i cant really trust anyone that well
|
See,no one has alot of true freinds i mean sure a few aquaintances but rarely someone you can rely on, someone you can talk with, someone who supports you, someone who would die for you...a true freind is a thing to cherish
as for me i havent really had but one =) For no man hath greater love than this...that a man lay down his life for a freind |
Quote:
Anyway, I'm extremely fortunate that I found this website, too, Kayleigh. I forgot what I was searching for, but PC kept coming up as one of the top results. So I came here, and I joined. I honestly didn't expect to be around this long. But, I'm really glad I did since I made so many friends that actually share my interests. Sure, I've met people IRL that enjoy anime and manga, but for some reason...I just don't bond with them like I do with the people here at PC. Like one girl that's in my dance class adores anime, too. However, when I asked her if she liked Inuyasha, she said she wasn't too big of a fan and I was like, "WHAT?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!!" *shakes fist* That's when I think of Kayleigh or Kairi...and the wall scroll situation...heh. ^_^; Yay, Kayleigh, you think of me as Kaname Chidori from "Full Metal Panic!"? My personality is a lot like her's...I kind of sound like her, too. Weird! And there was this one little girl in the class I'm Princess Jasmine in, and me and "Aladdin" have to to pick her up and spin her around...she reminded me so much of the younger Kayleigh, lol. Of course, I don't know what Kayleigh looks like--but by her description she fits this little girl's features and shyness. Light brown/brown hair down to her shoulders and she is just so adorable. She has this soft little laugh, too. It's awesome...lol...yeah. ^_^; |
I have 3 best friends, so I have no Idea what it's like to have several best friends...and I also don't know what it's like to have no best friends at all...
The same applies to everyone else...A born king doesn't know what it's like to be a born slave... |

~DragonTrainer:dragonite |
Most of the people I know are just "school friends" just people I talk to at school no real friends. Most of my "real'' friends are people I have meet in other countries and now talk to online or just people I have meet online. The simple fact is people that I know in the real world seldom like to do any of the thing's I'm into. I'm lucky if I can get them to sit through ONE episode of an anime. I have like two or three friends offline that actually like anime and aren’t just mindless otakus. Most of my other friend’s offline are just party going drunk high school kids. They are the type of person that just like to watch some dumb movies (Freddy got fingered, scary movie, euro trip) over and over and over again, then they get annoyed with me for watching a anime more the one time. So I have a mixed bag of friends, I guess with online I met more people like me and that are into the stuff I like. But offline most of my friends are just party going boozers.

And yeah, I know how you feel about the 'friend + anime' thing. None of my friends would even know what it was, lol. If some of them are spending the night for a sleepover, like on Friday, I'll wake up early so that I can watch the new Pokemon episode the next morning. They'll either still be asleep, or will be doing something else, lol. I guess that's kind of a pain in the butt... It's not as much fun having to like something by yourself. |
People don't like me (off-line). They think I'm weird. Don't ask me why...unless my family counts? No? ;.;
|
I want my friends to be in my team next year, but if they aen't, at least I'll know people from this grade. It won't be that bad.

1/1,000,000? Are you exagerating? XD I bet you have atleast 500 friends. ;) I've heard that you'll live longer if you have more friends. :P |
I've been pondering this...similarly to love, I think once you're best friends with some one, nothing can really change that...even if you two have this gigantic fight (argument, fist fight, whatever) you still can't help but remember the good times. I think a real best friend is a life long person...
but that's just me...or maybe it's just something I'd like to believe... Blemhema...oh I'm out of energy |
Yeah, I think that too. I got into about 3 physical fights with my old best friend, but we're not friends anymore. I still have one, and she's a girl, so we've only had arguments. Still when we have arguments, we still respect each other.
|
XP I need to be more social i have 1 good freind and 0 aqauintances lol
~Lighterhead (If i knew somewhere to go i'd have a life!) XP No but really i share Kayleighs problem no one i know likes pokemon and i keep sleeping to long to watch it! Err bye bye now |
Let's me... my problem would be... a lack of reason for life. >=\ I sometimes love life for one minute and before I know it I'm confused about why again. Sigh.
Quote:
.... Edit: Arguements between best friends? I guess they happen. But remember that argument is ignorance. Imo. There's a better way called "discussion". |
IRL I only have 6 really good friends. 5 of them are boys XD. (We're all going to the school formal together XD.) But online I have a heap of great friends. *points @ sig*

I have several good friends. In fact - I have had great friendships since i was like 7.

I've come to the conclusion that I don't make new friends easily, is because I don't follow trends, and I like being myself. Only my true friends like me for who I am, and all the others are just, I don't know, filler friends. They are the people I hang around with and talk to until I finally get my friends in my team (hopefully next year). But I will never chnage to fit in with a certain group.
Lately i've been having good days. I have one friend from my group of "filler" friends who might actually be a friend. Not a best friend, but at least someone I can call a friend. He defends me sometimes, and we do each other favors. He's pretty cool, but sometimes I don't know if I'm being used. I don't know, I guess that's just hows guys are :P |
I'm good at making a lot of friends really fast...but if you want to me my good friend it always has to grow on me...oh well
BOO ya! |
