I know a lot of people that I could call my friends, but I don't know if I want to call any of them my best friends. That would be kind of mean to pick just one or two out of so many. Even though all of my friends are really nice, it's just hard to do stuff together because our interests are different. Not like that's the most important thing, but it does help if your friends like the same thing as you do. It makes it easier to enjoy the time that you spend together.

If I had to pick some that I could say that I was really close to, then it would definitely be my family members. We're all very close, and I feel the most comfortable around them. Even though this may sound wierd, I actually love to hang out with my brother. (My youngest one is only 1, so it would be hard to have much fun with him now, lol. Even though he is fun to play with, he can't talk to me about anything and stuff like that. When he's a bit older, then yeah!) My 13 year old brother likes so many of the same things as I do, (Such as Pokemon and drawing. I've never had a friend that actually really liked Pokemon.) And plus, he's really funny, and great to hang out with. We do a lot of things like climb trees and everything; my friends cannot do that! One time one of them tried to climb the fence in our backyard, and she ended up ripping part of her pants, lol. It was funny.

Anyways... o.o Yeah. That's my opinion. *wonders if anyone even read that*

But, if they friends have to be out of the family, I have about 2 again. Unfortunately, I hardly spend time with them anymore, so I don't know if they have changed....

Oh well! I'm having enough fun with my two awesome sisters!

*sounds like the Possum from "A Goofy Movie"* Aw-haw, isn't that cuuuuute, Jordan! *pinches Jordan's cheeks* Dork, lol. >_<

I, myself, have a "clique" of friends; but, I really don't consider any of them my friends, if you can believe it. I'm not very comfortable around them anymore like I used to, yet they include me in all of their birthday parties probably just to milk a gift out of me. Lol, I know I sound so depressing, but that's how I feel. There's only one friend I can count on that I got very close to this year and I hope we can still keep our friendship that way. I can tell her anything and we both seem to have the same point of view on a lot of things. ^_^ Like my Dad always told me: "You can only count your true friends on one hand." I really believe in that, too. I've had so many people that I thought I could trust--but it always results in some sort of a fiasco.

PC-wise, I made a lot of friends here--more than I ever thought I would! I think I was a loner until February, lol. But once you get a shoe-in with Kayleigh, Kairi, and Jordan (100marios), you can become quite the celebrity around here! ^_^; That's how I made it! [/end infomerical]...heh. Anyway, I enjoy all the friends--the friends I didn't mention already, as well--I've gotten around here.

[EDIT]: Aw, crud, I just noticed that PC people don't count, lol. Shows how much I paid attention! I kind of wondered why no one was mentioning anyone from PC...heh...>_< Ohwell, what was said, is said!

Lol, it would be fun if we could meet all of our friends at PC. (Kayleigh + Chrystie = HAVOC! *calms down*) I truely think that I would get along better with most of you here than my real-life friends. It's so much easier to find someone who has the same interests as you online.

Come to think of it, I'm the same way...I feel more comfortable talking about things with you all here than I do with anyone else...you all fit my personality more than anyone I know anywhere else ^^;; You're all friends of mine...too bad I can't associate with you on a regular basis or anything ._.

Frostweaver June 10th, 2004 4:19 PM

Yeah... PC members are excluded from this. Though I must wonder why Dakota chose to do that... Must everything be physical to be real? =/

To be truthful, I really feel just as uncomfortable or unwilling to chat with some of the members here on PC at times... just to be pointing the truth out. Not all, but some... PC has such a great tendency to say "All of you are my best friends! *smile*" so I thought that someone should break the nice trend that may possibly be white lies O.o;

Pikachu Fan38 June 10th, 2004 5:27 PM

Unfortunatly I can't make friends that easily.First, because I'm mexican
and my accent doesn't let me speak that well. And second of all, the things my
classmates do are'nt my favorite things.I like watching Pokemon and playing video games. They don't.But I do have a friend that lives in Canada.(sorry if this is off topic but I had to tell this to someone)

Frostweaver June 10th, 2004 5:35 PM

it's not off topic... it's perfectly fine ^_^;

And don't worry... if you think that it's hard to make friends because you're "weird," you'll be surprised at how many people in PC who are also weird in their own ways... ^_^;

Oh gawd.. Don't even mention to me my friends. I only have two online best friends. And I have ZERO phsycal friends. The only phsyical friends I have are my family, but most barely frigging understand me. >_<; I love them a lot, but we're never on the same page. The friends at school left me, and my only best friend at school is dead. Ya all know who she is, the girl whom I grieved over in January, rememba?? --; Sorry I got pissed, but it makes me angry I don't really have anyone to love that much. But believe me guys, its horrible. I barely have anyone to talk to and I have to conceal my thoughts, my feelings inside and I barely can take them out. Urgh.. Its terrible.. Even though its horrible, I sometimes prefer not to have friends. They often end up hurting me anyway, and I don't like getting close to people, if I do. Then they'll just make me cry.

*dies*

Well, I have my bestest best friend, Allie, the one I have known sence we were in 3rd grade. Then Nicole, who is a best friend, but not as much so as Allie, but we are still really great buddies. Finally Liana, and I proably am around her the most becuase we are in a lot of the same activites. (Track, marching band, ect.)

SSJ4 Metallica June 10th, 2004 5:44 PM

Guest_1337 June 10th, 2004 10:52 PM

(This is Kairi, my account has NOT been hacked. I just wanted to post this while it was on my mind)

Let me start by addressing the foremost part of this poll—IRL friends.

I have one friend who is very very close to me, and she’s the only person I’d consider a friend. I know other people, talk to them, yes. I’ve had friends in the past, thought the other closest one (happened to be named Andy) kind of…fell away when we stopped going to the same school since I became homeschooled.

My friend and I are alike in many ways—love video games, often the same sense of humor and so on. Do we disagree? Of course! We both like Japanese subbed animé, though I love Japanese music and she abhors it. She thinks my MP3 player should be full of the songs she likes, which is mostly modern rock/rap and stuff, I prefer my video game music. We’ve never really had a _big_ fight. We get into little tiffs but never have we not broken down shortly after.

That being said, now it’s time to address to other part of this poll. Yes, online friends.

They _are_ different first and foremost, I’ll agree. The biggest thing of course is physical separation—you can’t seem them or laugh with them as you would someone IRL. You can’t hug them when they need it, or cry on their shoulder when you feel bad. Another problem is animosity—who knows who they are, right?

However while there are differences between the two, I don’t believe the aforementioned differences are enough to make them lose their title as friend, as good as the title given to IRL ones.

Is a joke really much different typed that spoken? Sure, there’s tone of voice and all but If it makes you laugh I doubt you change your laugh to accommodate how physically near them you are. I know when things happen to me, usually the first thought I have is “I can’t wait to tell *insert my IRL friend’s name here*” Of course I’ll also see things and go “Oh, Edmonton! Frosty is so lucky to live up there!” "That’s so much like Erica!” “Kayleigh would love that, I’ll have to tell her!”

That sort of thing. I do a lot of things with my friends in mind—it helps me feel and do better knowing someone will support me, watch me, or take care of me. I need that, really.

I feel happy when I’m with my IRL friend. We laugh, we comfort each other and we just enjoy each other’s company. Of course I adore coming online because I get those same things from my online friends! My “online life” is very important to me. It’s not my whole life—nor is my friend my whole life, but both are a large part of me. Especially lately, I feel…closer to my friends, all of them, IRL or not as of late. And it’s been a great relief to me, for which I’m very thankful for.

This is, of course my opinion…and sadly all I’ve said would not be shared by my IRL friend. She’d think I’m some sort of fool for talking to people online, thinking of them offline or wanting to be in their company. And…that’s why I’m kind of glad there is a separation between online and offline friendships. My online and offline lives mean the world to me—but if they collided I’d probably be mortified trying to handle it.

That’s how I feel anyways.

If you were referring to me, then you're exaggerating what I said. Of course not everyone here is a friend of mine, but the majority of people here are my friends, not in the deep sense but in the sense that I get along with them without any sort of problems. I'm not ACTING nice, as if I have some sort of hidden agenda for being kind to other people and expressing gladness at their acceptance of me, it's the way I feel. If it seems too goody-twoshoes-ish to tell people here that they're my friends, then that's just the way it's going to have to be, but I see it as a simple expression, and there is no way I would consider everyone here to be a friend, nor did I say that.

Yeah...it must...

What some people don't realize is that not everyone online is who they say, act, feel, react, or do stuff in how they would in real life. Now there are some people that are, of course, really nice and friendly and you'd think they're the same way in real life. But, some people are willing to say stuff online that they aren't if you were face to face. You may all think I'm loud and percoucious in real life when I meet new people, but I'm actually pretty shy around people I'm not familiar with...

yep

I have one best friend. One in the world, that i know will never tell any of my secrets, and try to hurt me. We have been best friends since fourth grade, and I love her with all of my heart. I would do anything for her, and I know she is there for me too. I wish she was in my team, hopefully next year.

John Denver June 11th, 2004 2:26 PM

I think if a person has...

1 best friend: That's really wierd
2 best friends: The perfect little group of buds
3 best friends: Still really good, but you probably won't always be able to do stuff together completely...
4 best friends: Crap kid...
5 best friends: ok STOP!

BOO ya!

Frostweaver June 11th, 2004 2:55 PM

@ Dakota: if that is so, then call me a fool who'll rather keep dreaming in a world of lies, than to wake up to a world of deceit...

Chairman Kaga June 11th, 2004 2:57 PM

Neither did I say that or even hint to thinking that was so of you. Don't put words in my mouth.

o_0, no fighting guys *cough*lookatmyeyesrollinsarcasmLOL*cough*

Oh, so I'm weird Dakota?!?! LOL, but actually i do have a group of really good friends, but I wouldn't consider them my best friends. My good friends are the kids I've known since elementary school.

Pokemaster10000 June 11th, 2004 3:21 PM

Well 5/6 of my current class are my friends. :P
If you count out of the whole world I have atleast 1,000 friends.
But out of all of them there's only 3 best friends I have.
