Martyr

  • I know pretty much nothing about EV training. It's long and boring, but I'll try.
  • I'll give the pokemon PKRS as it boosts the EVs I hear. I'll mainly be EXp sharing though so that'll make it neutral right?
  • I may get the power items if you guys recommend it xD You probably will.
Fortress @Leftovers / Flame or toxic orb or quick claw.
Nature: ???
Spikes
Toxic Spikes
Stealth Rock
Explosion
  • I'm expecting by the time I get to use Spikes, toxic spikes and SR it'd have low health if any, 4x fire weakness. So that's the reason for explosion.
  • I'd like to have it EV trained in HP, Def. Sp. Def and a little SPD. But please do say W/e. Bold are what I want most.
  • I'd like to know which pokemon I'd have to battle to get the desired EVs and how many of them.
  • Would I have to TM again if I want another pineco with SR?

The easier pokemon to gain the EVs you want are:
Defense:
1 Point.- Geodude(very common in Oreburg Mine) .
2 Points.- Graveler, Silcoon and Cascoon.
Sp.Defense:
1 Point.- Tentacool(common while surfing almost all around Sinoh).
2 Points.- Tentacruel
HP: The best area to train HP is Rpute 212(south area), there you can use Surf and the only pokemon that will appear are Wooper(1 point) and Quagsire(2 points)

Or the best to train for both Defense and Special Defense is Route 223, there you can find Pelipper(2 defense points) and Tentacruel(2 Sp.def points), these 2 pokemon are very common in there.

To help you to know how many EVs are you gaining:

N ~ P ~ MB ~ PI ~ P&MB ~ P&PI

1 ~ 2 ~ 2 ~~ 5 ~~~ 4 ~~~~ 10

2 ~ 4 ~ 4 ~~ 6 ~~~ 8 ~~~~ 12

3 ~ 6 ~ 6 ~~ 7 ~~~ 12 ~~~~ 14

N - Normal battle
P - Pokerus
MB - Macho Brace
PI - Power Item

Thus the best combo is using both the Pokerus and the Power Item.
The common EV spread for a Foretress are 252 Def, 252 SDef OR 252 HP 128 Def, 128 SDef.

As for the Stealth Rock question, if your Foretress is a male you can breed it with Ditto and the Pineco you get will have Stealth Rock.

Thanks for taking the time to explain to me :)
So I guess that's 15 geodude with power item and 2 normal, and the same with tentacool. With the vitamins to boot xD
Time to save for the power items D: lol.

Nice, it's just when I tried with mudkip it didn't learn it, probably because it's not a ground type.

Any suggestions on the nature? From what I've just seen Impish or Sassy.

Impish or Relaxed is a good nature for it.

May i suggest Relaxed nature and replace Toxic Spikes with Gyro Ball. Toxic Spikes is useless IMO , because if your opponent sends in a poison type (Gengar being common) it absorbs them, thus undoing your hard work. Stealth rock and Spikes is good, and if you can at all, get rest on it to recover damage.

EVS i would go with for Foretress because its a Physical wall are : 252 HP, 252 Defense , 6 Attack or Special Defense.

also in answer to your question Pineco learn stealth rock by tm , so it will be able to learn it through breeding, but in your case yes it needs a TM.

Nah the point of Foretress was to get toxic spikes otherwise Skarmory would've been my option seeing as I'd teach it Whirlwind :P. And if my opponent uses a poison pokemon I'll explode and switch in a pokemon that is super effective against it.

what about gegar? he resists explosion, making toxic spikes useless

Blergh, but toxic spikes still effects the other pokemon as well right?
Also that's why hes a martyr :P

Oh one more thing if I have a power item and pokerus, but switch out my pokemon does it earn 10 or 5 Evs?

Also if I get max out my Evs early on say at lvl 20 or so would that mean bad stats after that or do I have to spread the EVs throughout it's levelling process?
