Electivire Counter

I was wondering what is a good counter to stop this thing from wreaking havoc, i just noticed i have a huge weakness to this moveset:-

[email protected] Belt/Choice Scarf
Lonely Nature/Hasty
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Punch

anyone know whats the best counter to Electivire ?

Red X August 31st, 2007 11:14 AM

A water/ground type is your best beat. Swarmpert is my choice.

genus August 31st, 2007 11:28 AM

Electvire really wants thunderpunch over tbolt there, Skarmory isn't that big of a deal anymore and max defense, 252 hp ev Slowbro is 2hko'd reliably by tpunch (assuming no expert belt, which is a gurranteed 2hko).

Anyways, you only have a "huge Electvire problem" because you probably use Thunder Wave on Blissey. Give it Sing instead, that way you get the chance to incapacitate anything looking to set up or trap you (Dugtrio, Garchomp, Electvire, etc.)

If you're really starved for an Electvire counter, Weezing and Dusknoir, the latter also functioning as a competent Rapid Spin blocker, can make the speed boost pointless with Will O' Wisp. Just watch out for Guts Heracross, unless you like eating Stone Edge from 766 attack.

Dugtrio will save your day pal :D just make sure it has Earthquake :)

Ah some great suggestions thanks everyone

Is the Dugtrio moveset this

[email protected] Band/Choice Scarf
Jolly/ Adamant Nature
Ability: Arena Trap
EVS 252 Att/ 252 Speed/ 6 Hp
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch/Night Slash
- Aerial Ace

Im not sure which item it should have or nature, since i usually use Garchomp over this who gets owned by Scarf Electivire Ice Punch.

genus August 31st, 2007 1:42 PM

Dugtrio needs a choice band and an adamant nature, otherwise it can't trap and ko Blissey.

Unless you want a general revenge killer in which case Jolly and Life Orb. Just don't whip it out on the egg unless you want to get ko'd by ice beam.

KingOfClubs August 31st, 2007 3:38 PM

I use mamoswine...Mines really fast.

Samson August 31st, 2007 4:09 PM

using dugtrio for an electivire counter is a horrible idea. 3/4 of the moves electivire has will OHKO dugtrio.

Azonic August 31st, 2007 4:14 PM

Rhyperior can defeat Electivire, pretty good.

shedinjask August 31st, 2007 5:38 PM

Swampert and Donphan both work excellently.

Also lol @ Duggy being a Bliss counter.

Dugtrio is good to destroy Blissey with Choice Band Earthquake... I dont see why you would "lol" at that seriously

Only if the Electivire is Choice Scarfed, and if thats a DEAD obvious thing, you will have to lure it into using an Electric attack.

Punishment August 31st, 2007 7:59 PM

Any sleep inducer that outspeeds Electrive can do the job.

Claydol is another great Pokemon. It is immune to Electrive's TPunch and EQ. It walls Crosschop and Ice Punch is at minimun a 2HKO.

Portujesus August 31st, 2007 8:04 PM

Weezing can asplode in it's face or WoW it, but needs to watch out for Psychic.
Forrie can asplode or EQ it, but can't take a Fire Punch (lol, k, maybe 2).
Cresselia can pretty much wall it, but it can only Calm Mind against it or Toxic it.
Sorry that my english sucks.

That only counts for people who can't predict well. If you can predict when he'll use Thunder[bolt/Punch], sending Dugtrio in is instant death to Electivire. Or you could quite simply pull a switcheroo... send something out that obviously packs Thunderbolt or Thunder Wave (Blissey is perfect for luring Electivire out with TW), and instead of actually using it, send Dugtrio out right away. If you play your cards right, you catch him on the switch in and don't have to worry AT ALL about taking a hit.

That's how I've massacred Magnezones before.

Prediction is the best way to kill Electivire.

sure, but it works both ways. you know that better than anyone richard.

any competitive battler, meaning half-decent, would use electivire's typing to its advantage and would use either ice punch or earthquake on the opponent's switch.

above all, blissey WOULDN'T switch out if a previous team member was forced to switch out until it was already established that the person had an electivire.

does anyone know where you could find the elctrizer?

this is the wrong thread for that.

and about electivire, anything thats faster than him with earthquake will kill him. his max def is 256 and most people dont even bother putting evs into def anyway so anything with earthquake will pretty much destroy him.

EvanMiesterX September 1st, 2007 9:58 AM

I'd use a Swampert that knows Earthquake, if it rarely uses ice punch, then maybe use a gliscor?

Starway September 1st, 2007 10:04 AM

i'd say you should use earthquake it's strong against most types

Espeon Master September 1st, 2007 1:27 PM

What about a Bronzong?

As long as Electravire doesn't have fire punch or flamethrower you should be good. With Levitate, Earthquake doesn't effect it. Ice punch will only do 50% damage and Bronzong's defenses should cover Cross Chop and Thunderbolt.

Brozong's defenses are so good, it can take a Flamrthrower, & definatly a Fire Punch.

Well sims, from what ive seen, an Electivire's Earthquake did 1/2 damage to my Steelix..

sims796 September 1st, 2007 1:54 PM

I don't know much on Steelix, so that's either very impressive, or very pathetic.

LOL quoted for empirical emphasis.

Angelic Diablo September 1st, 2007 10:56 PM

Steelix doesn't resist Earthquake though, Bronzong has complete immunity to Earthquake so there is no comparison really (unless you run a Heat Proof 'zong)
