Heatran

I know there was just a huge discussion on what's uber and what's not, but I'm pretty sure Heatran is right on the line, so I'm not sure of what it's classification is. If its allowed in Standard Play, would this be a worthwhile moveset:

[email protected] Specs
Nature: Modest
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 216 HP, 132 Special Attack, 92 Speed, 68 Special Defense

Flamethrower
Earth Power
Dragon Pulse
Overheat

Yellow Magikoopa September 2nd, 2007 10:43 PM

I disapprove of overheat.

peabobo's sexy legs September 2nd, 2007 10:45 PM

I disapprove of having two fire moves.

luke September 2nd, 2007 10:51 PM

Ehhh... I was going for a sort of Fire Version of a Specsmence. You know, like Draco Meteor and Dragon Pulse. I don't know. Not working for Heatran?

peabobo's sexy legs September 2nd, 2007 10:56 PM

Specsmence is a failure. It needs to die and go to hell.

luke September 2nd, 2007 10:57 PM

Hmmm... okay. Well, any suggestions for EVs and Nature? And I am guessing its not considered Uber?

peabobo's sexy legs September 2nd, 2007 10:59 PM

No, too vulnerable. If I were you, I'd up the Speed EVs so you could at least outspeed SOMETHING. Flash Cannon is bad.

Yellow Magikoopa September 2nd, 2007 11:00 PM

Whoever considers Heatran an uber needs to go die. Same goes for Rotom.

Anyway, get as many special EVs as possible, that's my advice.

Rotom's not even a legendary, or a possibility for online play.

luke September 2nd, 2007 11:02 PM

So classic Special Sweeper EV Spread for Heatran: 252 Speed, 252 Special Attack, 4 HP?

peabobo's sexy legs September 2nd, 2007 11:04 PM

NOO. At least put some into HP so it can survive a Surf.

luke September 2nd, 2007 11:05 PM

So how about: 200 Special Attack, 100 HP, 100 Special Defense, 104 Speed?

I just realized how slow it is. Even at maxed out Speed, will it be outrunning anything important any time soon?

peabobo's sexy legs September 2nd, 2007 11:07 PM

Now that's what we call a spread.

Some people consider it a legendary, and they're morons. Trust me.

luke September 2nd, 2007 11:09 PM

Is it a good spread or a bad spread? I was thinking of putting some Defense EVs in case it was hit by an Earth Power/Earthquake, but with 4x Weakness to Ground moves, it'll be KO'd either way. So it's best to switch to my Gliscor when an Earthquake is eminent.

Anyone who keeps a Heatran out when there are threats of EP or EQ has problems.

luke September 2nd, 2007 11:12 PM

Yes, I totally agree. Do you think Heatran meshes well with this team:

Gliscor
Tyranitar
Probopass
Lucario
Mamoswine

Desert Storm.

peabobo's sexy legs September 2nd, 2007 11:13 PM

Wait.. it's not a Desert storm when Mamie switches in.

luke September 2nd, 2007 11:15 PM

Mamoswine may be an arctic Pokemon, but it still isn't affected by Sandstorm. It doesn't have Snow Warning if that is what you're insinuating.

peabobo's sexy legs September 2nd, 2007 11:16 PM

Oh, lol. I thught it did. =P

Take off lucario though, it makes you team look pitiful.

luke September 2nd, 2007 11:19 PM

Really? I mean, I know it's not the sturdiest of Pokemon, but is it really that bad. With a Timid Nature, 31 IV in Speed, and a Choice Scarf, plus a 29 IV in Special Attack, it seems to be well qualified for Special Sweeping...

peabobo's sexy legs September 2nd, 2007 11:21 PM

And then... What do you know? Along comes A Special Wall.

Samson September 2nd, 2007 11:22 PM

the standard Heatran set is with Choice Scarf.

if you want to go with choice specs, i highly suggest you focus on giving it at least 188 HP evs. for moveset, go with Flamethrower/Dragon Pulse/Earth Power/Overheat.

fire + dragon + ground covers everything. you may want to consider explosion instead of overheat for Blissey and the like.

luke September 2nd, 2007 11:30 PM

Adjusted the EVs a bit. I think I made it a wee bit sturdier so its Speed won't be all that important. What do you all think?

peabobo's sexy legs September 2nd, 2007 11:32 PM

Er.. more Special Attack, please
