New discovery
Shiny Pokemon can be lurking in regular ol' patches O_O I was just chaining Chansey for the heck of it and I went to a patch of grass and I hear the shiny sound... I was like wait... I didn't send out Donp.... obviously the Pokeradar can find shinies on it's own and combine with the regular chances of getting a Shiny. I know that patch did NOT sparkle. Anyone else experience this? that and I'm gonna have to add this to my chaining guide.
|
Hmmm. Good discovery, probably same chance of finding one just running around in the grass. 1/8192 or w/e
|
Thats rather interesting. I've never had it happen though but from now on I will keep an eye out to see if it occurs on my game.
BTW- Congrats on that chansey! |
Shiny Chansey.. in another game and place, you would be revered as one extremely lucky person.
That's a good discovery, although I don't know if it should be added to a guide. It might just be a fluke that doesn't get affected by chaining. |
no you just hit a random shiny. They can only be in shiny patches. That was just your random shiny encounter. It happned to me as I started to chain buneary..and a random shiny wurmple appeared. I almost fell out of my seat x.x
|
Yes it happened to me when I got my very first shiny skarmory. I heard a noise but then I couldn't see the sparkle. When I moved it just appeared.
|
wow! great discovery! :D I might have a try at it (f i'm bored :P)
|
Well this patch didn't sparkle at all, it just shook, I caught it and my chain kept going >.> it was just a normal patch, to be honest I thought the patch would more than likely break my chain, but I'm still going off that same chain. I just heard the shiny sound and I hadn't sent out my Shiny Donphan, which I was just raising his level off of them, I didn't expect at all to run into a shiny in that patch.

congrats on your discovery ST :] |
I actually found a shiny Voltorb months ago in a normal patch after a chain of 5.
|
If what you say is true, then it's not just me =D
So basically, I guess that means don't rule out all patches, if it's Shiny then go to it, but if it looks normal it might also contain a shiny... interesting indeed. |
You were always able to find a shiny without the PokéRadar. o_O The PokéRadar just increases your chances of actually encountering one. Aside from that, it's still possible. You were just incredibly lucky.
|
aye but you're more likely gonna just break your chain...
which.... SUCKS!! xD it ALWAYS happens to me.. :P i get to 38 chain and BOOM breaks xD stoopid frikken bidoof/starly! i just want shiny shinx!! |

AFAIK, that's still the same as encountering a regular shiny Pokémon without using the PokéRadar. Circumstances are the same.

Not much of a discovery. Call it luck. Or unluck, really, because you looked for a shiny with the Radar and got one the old way instead. Anyway, congratulations for discovering shinies can be found in the grass by walking. Nobody had ever thought of that.
