NOOOOO!!!! - Game Froze!!

So I was in the cave, on my way to battle the League of Four (is that what they're called, I forgot already >.<;) Anyway, I'm battling the various people along the way and all of the sudden after this one battle the game froze! I was like, okay, no worries, I just saved it...so I can restart the DS. Boy was I wrong! I loaded my saved game and all I get is a black screen! What the heck?!?!

Is this the game or the DS? Is it a glitch? Has anyone else experienced this and if so, now what??? There's no way I have the motivation to start all over again....

Bathing Ape September 5th, 2007 7:35 AM

It's never happened to me

Have you used any cheats on your game? Maybe it's wrecked it or summit :(

Kraka-chan September 5th, 2007 7:57 AM

The Legue of Four? I think you mean the Elite Four. If that helps.

Well, I haven't experienced anything like that either. You're not using any cheat devices are you, denaliwind?

Shiny Umbreon September 5th, 2007 11:38 AM

I don't know if this glitch (don't even know if it's one) is activated by something specific you do. You missed all the way to the cave? Wow. You're so lucky. I trained about 200 EVs, and then my game froze. I really wanted to commit suicide at that moment. I even had to restart everything because I had already erased my last EVs, so I didn't know how much I had. It was so annoying. Now I'll save much more regularly.

This should be moved to the Glitch thread, though it's maybe not a glitch, so I'll just leave it here.

denaliwind September 5th, 2007 3:22 PM

NO cheats! I like doing everything myself. I think it was just one of those things and now it's working fine. After I turned it off and took out the game and loaded another game to play for a bit I tried the Pokemon one again and it's back to normal, so I'm relived.

Yes, the Elite Four, I knew I had that wrong! >.<;
I don't think its a glitch either...just a wonky moment like when a computer freezes up for no aparent reason.

Dogod September 5th, 2007 7:31 PM

The game freezes up on me, too occasionally. It's really annoying.

Yes it is!
It's starting to do something else now - every time I walk, run, bicycle or surf the sides of the picture on the top screen shake and a funny noise brakes the music.

Now what? Is my game a lemon? Should I buy a new one?

lol, a lemon. That's a new one!

Anyways, before you go out and buy a new game, just go with a logical approach: 1.) try that game on a different (maybe a friend's) DS. Maybe it's the DS and not the game itself. And 2.) try a different game on your DS. But long enough to determine if something's up. Try cleaning/wiping down with a SOFT cloth the memory part of the game, and blow into the slot of the DS where you put it. Maybe there's some grit or dirt that's screwing with the data.

Although, I'm no electronics expert.

You must of used cheats. It might of depended how many cheats you entered.

Phoenix Wright September 6th, 2007 7:30 PM

ive never heard of a ds game freezing....
i dont know whats up with your game.
id go with richards advice though, try it out on someone elses system before you go out and waste 40 bucks.

That happened to me too and I have never used any device or abused glitches in my game. It just froze out of nothing.

Umm... same with my game. It's frozen a few (I think 2-3) times in the middle of play before and I have no cheating device either to have the possiblilty of that chance of it being the cause of this.

There's just something up with the game... O.o

After a connection error at the Battle Tower's Wi-Fi section, my Japanese game required a reset at one stage and for some reason, I was in a dark area and couldn't move around. I ended up trying to restart the game, but didn't want to in the end. I saved at the location I was in ("Mystery Zone" in the English versions) since I had nothing to lose and wound up in Kotobuki City ("Jubilife City").

I ask you to respond if saving in the dark area gives you such luck.

I didn't use cheats. The guy here says he didn't use cheats. Anyone who makes a post further on saying "But you must have cheated" or anything along that line will get a post deletion.

It just was completey black - I couldn't see anything on either screen. No music, nothing - but it wasn't like the dark you see when the DS is shut off - it was black.
Now it's back to "normal" - with the exception of the strange wiggling sides every time I move.

And thank you, I've never used cheats nor do I have any clue on how to use them! :P

Okay, details:

I was training in the Resort Area, surfing. I was battling Golduck normally, and then while I was surfing, the screen went dark with the battle music as normal. The thing is the battle music wasn't too normal. It was like glitched up. Like repeating the same 0.25 seconds all over again. The screen then never appeared again. This isn't something about entering black voids. In my case, it just froze before entering battle.

Anthem Of The Fire September 8th, 2007 4:07 AM

Yeah, that happened to mine except I had to restart my game!

KingFlygon September 8th, 2007 6:21 AM

Well my game did that for a while. It froze ever time I opened it up from when it was in like "sleep mode". Where you don't turn it off, but close it so it doesn't use up batteries. But I think that's because I dropped on my cell phone from my bunk bed. :3 Now its fine.

Perhaps he accidently passes over a load line in the game and he created the void? I have done this accidently once, and my game froze. I was in the Black Void and it froze, and all I saw was a black screen. There are many load lines in the Victory Road, as there should be one every 16 steps.

kiler September 9th, 2007 2:31 AM

maybe it is just a bug in the game?!?!?!?

I once had the game freeze when i was EV training my Gardevoir. I Only lost like 40 EV's though. (it froze when i hit it in frustration. -****ing machokes)
Some advice for people EV training. If you record EVs on paper, note when you save so you can continue if something happens. I assume this is a US version? Because didnt the japanese version have a void in the E4.

Ársa September 9th, 2007 2:41 AM

I record EV's on my Counter, but I used to use paper.

My pearl actually froze once when I was in the GTS, since then nothing else ever happened, maybe its just some random glitch

psyduckmaniac September 10th, 2007 3:04 AM

omg now im scared to death mine is going to glitch up! but i just thought of something, maybe its the ds lites! ive got a ds phat from when they first come out and its never done anything glitchy, and ive dropped it a million times!wait, ok the game does freeze when i drop my ds and its in the gts but thats understandable. hope all you guys get your games fixed soon!

Lumine September 10th, 2007 3:06 AM

Normal DS or DS Lite, it doesnt really matter, most likely its the cartridge, about the dropping thing that's a possibility

J_zero September 10th, 2007 7:22 AM

umm strange.... did you use any AR codes?
