is this legal?

ok i have the xploder device which allows e to copy my save file to my pc. once ive copied it i trade my pokes to my other ds and my other game. then i load my previous save from my pc onto my game cartridge. so i have all my pokemon and the other game has them too, so i trade em back and voila i have 2 of each pokemon. Is it wrong to do this? would people be against reciving these pokemon? they are perfectly legit just copied.

In my opinion, that's considered hacking, because you use an external device to modify the game/save.

LOL everything with pokemon is legal, ppl just say somethigs like hacked arceus are not legit, but theyre talking in a pokemon way, it is legal, there is no law in america tht prevents you from doin tht, lol same goes for hacked pokemon, ppl just have something against them, i dont know thyere kinda strange o.0 prefer to wait 2 years for arceus to come out rather than using cheating devices or asking for a free one like i did :)

^I'm sure he didn't mean legal in the real life way, but in the Pokémon way, as in "legit", so about half your post wasn't needed.

the trouble is that alot of people deal in clones or clone for themselves. so id guess at least 70% of pokemon on here have been cloned at least once.

Toadboy September 6th, 2007 10:29 AM

The pokemon were captured legally (i'm assuming) and therefore all of their stats are not hacked. As far as i'm concerned they are legal pokemon. You didn't hack your game to enable an event, you didn't hack the game to make a pokemon appear out of thin air.
Interestingly enough, i did something similar in the old days with a game save device for the game boy color. Save the game to the device, trade rare pokemon to a new game pack then restore the save to the game.
Is it actually called an "xploder"? I'd like to find one to get for myself

snowlock September 6th, 2007 10:39 AM

yeh xploder, the pokemon are 100% legit all im doing is copying them twice.

Pkmn Trainer Alex September 6th, 2007 11:11 AM

Again, legitimacy is based on who is judging it. Some people don't think anything received with a third-party device is legit, even if it is a copy of a legit Pokémon. Some people don't think copies, or anything, received from abusing glitches is legit, either. Your own opinion can be very different from another person's. But I think considering the people here at PC, most people won't have a problem with you doing this particular thing.

Can't say much in relation to PC's rules, though back when cloning threads were allowed, anyone cloning with an AR got their thread closed. This would probably be in the same line of things.

Anything that doesn't deal with the main game's gameplay (including abusing glitches) is considered cheating. Now it's each one's decision whether that cheating is fair or not.

This is turning out like most threads like this. Whether using glitches/external devices is legit or not has been discussed many times. We don't need another thread like this.
