One more thing about CSS....

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can't get a background image into my CSS sig. Can someone help me with this?

Xoo September 7th, 2007 12:54 PM

Well, I think I have the right attributes....

background-image:url{http://i2.*.com/4m16dlw.jpg};

That's the code, is it right? 'Cause all it does is make the background transparent.
OK, wait, am I supposed to have an actual url? How do I put an image in that I hosted?

Hmm. It may be anal, but for CSS, it usually looks like this:

body{background-image:url('insert URL here');}

Perhaps try a variation of that? Not quite sure how it might work for a sig, but maybe that'll give you an idea of how you can get it to work.

But can you put image urls? Like the picture I hosted on Tinypic?

EDIT: Here's the picture. http://i2.*.com/4m16dlw.jpg

You can pretty much use any URL you want, even one from Image Shack or Photobucket, if I recall correctly.

What you want is to have the tag like Hiroshi said.

background-image: url(http://i2.*.com/4m16dlw.jpg);

Put ^ that in, and it'll work.

[/css -div]

[css -div="width: 437px ; border: solid 3px #808080; corner radius-9px; font-variant: big-caps; color: #60B530;
background-image:url(http://i2.*.com/4m16dlw.jpg);
background-color:#C0C0C0;"]

There's the code, if it shows up.
All I get is a blank background.
And it makes the image thing a link.

JX Valentine September 8th, 2007 6:26 AM

Hmm. I've messed around with it in my own signature, and for some reason, it only works if you put the background-image property first. (For me, anyway.)

Also, yeah, make sure you have single quote marks around the URL, else the board thinks it's a link and adds URL tags around it for you.

Thanks a lot, it worked, but how do you get rid of the end part, where it starts over?

EDIT: Never mind, I fixed it.
