Oh Crap! Blissey Problem

Ok so here I am thinking that I've made a great Blissey. It has 31 sp. defense IV's and then like 29-31 HP IV's (not sure Yet). Then it has an OK nature. Its a nature with no benefits OR negatives. Fine by me. I planned on having the typical Blissey:
Softboil
Seismic Toss
Aromatherapy
Thunder Wave

That's fine. So then I spend like three days in FireRed/ Emerald/ Leaf Green getting and breeding a Chansey with a Aromatheraping Roselia. Perfect. Then I get it, teach it the move tutor moves, and migrate it to Diamond. Here I start EV training it on Woopers to max out its HP.

After that, I think, ok now let's sp. defense EV train it. I did that, and then started training it so that it would evolve. Now, its evolved and at level 39 with the move set above.

It has amazing HP and Sp. Defense, but only 13 defense! Oops. Then I do a Wifi battle and check its stats. 39 defense!

So next I'm on serebii looking at the 4 generation pokemon of the week. The first move set suggested EV training it in Defense. Oh Crap!!! That explains alot! I went down, and all of the movesets had max defense involved.

So here's the problem. Should I just leave the Blissey like it is and figure out a strategy with it's crappy defense, or should I totally restart and try to get a bold blissey and EV training it in Defense. Please note that the move tutor moves are done, so I would have to start FireRed over again.

What do you think? Please help. Thanks in advance.

Well, if you plan on using it competitively, which it sounds like you are, I should first tell you that nuetral natures suck. 100% of the time. This is my favorite blissey set, and the most effective IMO:

[email protected]
Trait: Natural Cure
BOLD nature
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Defense, 6 Special Defense
~Softboiled
~Seismic Toss
~Aromatherapy
~Thunder Wave

I see you know the good moveset, but the EVs and nature are there. With ALL that HP, blissey can take a physical hit and survive...in most cases. I think your physical wall should be in when the physical sweepers come to play, but Bliss can take the surprise physical attack with those EVs, and softboiled sure helps.

Yeah, I know ALL that, but should I just deal with my screw up, or just totally restart?

Anti September 9th, 2007 9:18 AM

Restart. Done. Period. Blissey DEMANDS a bold nature and defense EVs. If you don't have that, start over with rebreeding.

Here's the trick:

1. Put your Blissey in Emerald.
2. Keep using Grepa Berries until Blissey's Special Defense "can't go lower" anymore. That will remove all of the Special Defense EVs on her.
3. Use 10 Irons and then EV train her in Defense until she reaches 252.

For me, I don't really use Aromatherapy because it's so freakingly hard to get. This is my alternative set:

Blissey @Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Bold (-Atk, +Def)
EV's: 252 HP, 252 Defense, 4 Special Attack
Softboiled
Seismic Toss
Ice Beam
Thunder Wave

I'm sure that Counter is no longer widely used, since it's going to be useless now. For me, Ice Beam added to Seismic Toss will be a HUGE help since Blissey will not perform well in front of the Seismic Toss resisters. That's why I prefer it over Thunder Wave.

Don't blame me if I don't use Aromatherapy!

If you play Blissey in Diamond/Pearl, her Special Attack becomes much more used. In fact, some players use Modest Blisseys with the Bolt-Bea, Aromatherapist, or even a Calm Mind Blissey. I use:

Blissey @Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Bold
EV's: 6 HP, 252 Defense, 252 Special Attack
Softboiled
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Sing

I know Sing is not the most useful status move out there, but it will still be able to help, provided you put only one opponent to sleep (there is a limit). You can still replace it with Thunder Wave if you want.

I hope this helps.

First off, Grepa Berry does not remove IV's. You also can't put that Blissey on Emerald. If you did mean to say EV's, then he could remove them on D/P.

Second, don't ever, EVER suggest Sing. It's a horrible move, especially with Sleep Clause. 55% accuracy, and Sleep Clause? No way.

And it really isn't so hard to get Aromatherapy on Blissey. Just breed with a male Roselia.

Isn't blissey used differently in ubers? Well, yah, CB blissey! Okay, seriously, here's the ususal blissey that IMO you MUST use, it's that good:

[email protected]
Bold
252 HP, 252 Defense, 6 SpD
~Seismic Toss
~Aromatherapy
~Thunder Wave
~Softboiled

I thought this question had been answered already...anyways, this may be totally wrobng, but you can also use bliss like this:

[email protected]
Calm
252 HP, 252 SpD, 6 Defense
~Seismic Toss
~Softboiled
~Aromatherapy
~Thunder Wave

I think this is only used for ubers with the [email protected] running about...but I may be wrong. I really like that first set though...please use it, and IMO, Seismic Toss Pwns ice beam...but that's just me.

Angelic Diablo September 14th, 2007 1:10 AM

[email protected]
Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp Def, 6 Sp Atk
-Thunder
-Ice Beam
-Softboiled
-Calm Mind/Psych Up

Thunder due to Kyogre and drizzle, Psych Up to steal Tail Glow/Nasty Plot/Calm Mind or just Calm Mind yourself, due to the lack of PHazers in uber (lack of, didnt say none)
