Its too confusing, i broke my chain of nincada because of that at only 7. What is the probability of finding a shiny patch by resseting the radar at about 17-20ish?

Also i use four electivires each that have 54pp so i can chain longer than normal:)

Actually there are only 2 types of shaking patches that are non-shiny, which would be the ones which shake with no yellow, those contain common pokemon, and then those that shake with a little bit of yellow, those sometimes contain pokeradar exclusive pokemon.
It's really not hard to keep track of, you can only get confused if you actually can't see al the grass that shake in your patch of grass.

pokeguy12 October 28th, 2007 12:29 PM

why do some patches have the chance of containing more than 1 type of pokemon?

Zanacross October 28th, 2007 12:45 PM

befor in this thread i said i hadnt cought a shiny
because i thought it said
@have you cought a shiny useing the poke radar
But i reread it

and i have

And theres about 10-15 copies of it drifting round on the forums
lol

OT ASH
Bold nature

All patches do, they have a chance of containing the different pokemon found on that route.

pokeguy12 October 28th, 2007 1:07 PM

Like if a patch shakes 7-8 times with the same pokemon and then suddenly a different one appears, whats going on?

Gibbo October 28th, 2007 2:01 PM

I really don't understand what you mean...
Like, if you get a chain of 8 and then you go into another patch of grass and it's a different pokemon, so it breaks your chain?

Have you ever stopped to consider theres an excellant chance your formula is wrong? Or maybe its just pure luck that they saw that many, in either case quit being so pesimistic about possibilities, if its possible and there are thousands of people attempting, chances are someone will make it happen

ThePlaya October 28th, 2007 7:33 PM

haha..lol
Thats pretty old but thats exactly what we were telling him.
And your absolutely right Darkai:).
Ive been chaining and i caught a........Nothing:(

ShadowTails October 28th, 2007 8:32 PM

Eh, my luck lately isn't working in good favor... Lost my chance to get a Shiny Pidgey, chained Elekid again, (I already have 3 of them Shiny, but I was doing it for an Electrizer and I got 2, that's saying something since it's a 5% chance to find it on Pearl...) chained Nidorino a while back, got to 35 and it broke... I've been playing Emerald to try and finish so I haven't had a lot of time to do anything on Pearl...

well with what i can see with good eyesight, there are 3 types of shaking. first, the normal shake, second, the bush may go a bit greener with something like a circle on top, and third, the bits of yellow bush. i mentioned this before in the thread. hope this helps. ;)

Well I gotta say that the first two are pretty much the same thing...
I've caught many shinies chaining and I've never had problems with types of grass.

Don't ask me about the shaking patches, they confuse me too.

Where are you getting your numbers from? Because last time I checked, they're determined by this formula, which gives 1 in ~4472 at 17, and 1 in ~3947 for a chain of 20.

There are only three (possibly four if there are two kinds of shiny patches) varieties of grass shakes: the plain shake, the shake with flashes, and the shiny patch. These patches may seem to look different sometimes, but this is only caused by aliasing.

Yeah so did I, but I didn't have a calculator so I had to approximate it in my head.

ShadowTails October 29th, 2007 8:27 PM

I really wish you people would stop trying to say that it's impossible to find a lot of shinies in one chain... I know from experience that the higher your chain is, the more likely you'll be to find a Shiny. I own 8 Shiny Slakoth's and 6 Shiny Starly's, both of those chains were over 100. It's entirely possible for him to have gotten 7 Shiny Ponyta, even times when I was in the 40's chaining I had managed to get 3 shinies before hitting 50.

Lady Nicole October 29th, 2007 8:43 PM

I'm not arguing with you ShadowTails. I got 8 shiny Geodudes in a single chain once and I ended up with a chain of 47 before it broke. That was like the only chain I ever did.

EDIT: The first shiny Geodude I got in that chain appeared at a chain of 7! That's really lucky :)

my chain always broke at say, 5 or 6. never got a shiny at all :\

That is really lucky if you can get a shiny so early. ;)

Then you must be doing somethin wrong, I suggest watching the video in the first post.

The earliest shiny I've got was Lickitung at 8, I mean if you chain enough, it's just bound to happen at some point.

this is a vid for a shiny patch

just so you know what its like

ThePlaya October 30th, 2007 3:47 PM

well you people are getting lucky getting shinys in your early chains....i havn't had ANY luck getting them so early....dang

ShadowTails October 30th, 2007 5:08 PM

My two luckiest were a Shiny Sentret at 0... and a Beautifly at 3 oddly >.> I wasn't even really thinking I'd get a shiny but gosh... Beautifly was a freaking annoyance to catch... it broke out so many times and I wasted too many Pokeballs... I got it after waisting a total of over 50 balls on the thing...

ThePlaya November 1st, 2007 3:13 PM

lol.That sucks.
Well i didnt do any chaining yesterday since it was HALLOWEENLast time i caught something was like a week ago i think....

aninda91 November 2nd, 2007 3:11 PM
