Ehhmmm... Wha? OH! Now I get it!

It seems I got confused because you posted the screenshots each close to the other, so that led me to think it was a whole map screenshot, rather than three different screenshots of locations...

(But, it really looked as a good map being posted in that way, except for the part when the first and second merge, which has those weird connections of tiles which I misunderstood as bad mapping, don't you think? XD)

Sorry to confuse you on that (part is your fault, anyway ;))

Blitzballer October 24th, 2007 7:35 PM

wow, i really like this game...you are an amazing tilist! and the greenery looks really exquisite (oh, yeah. i used a big word)! i can't wait for the beta.

Alistair November 1st, 2007 3:06 PM

Thanks for the comments. Anyway, I would like to anounce that Harmony is on hold until further notice, as I really need to focus on school.

suchintan November 2nd, 2007 6:44 AM

id say dont have that poll until you release the beta... then people can say stuff about your game with experience

xxFrozenFlower November 2nd, 2007 9:40 AM

Ooh, this hack looks really great so far! Too bad it's on hold, but school always comes first. Try not to forget about it though. 8D
I agree with suchintan -nodnod- voting only off screenies and the plotline and such can be vague, but keep up the great work! ^^

~Hackwizard~ November 2nd, 2007 9:46 AM

The hack looks good but I don't realy like the Tilesets.

Pokepal2007 November 2nd, 2007 12:46 PM

Nice maps and really good tiles

shoohoo88798 November 4th, 2007 8:18 PM

no i'm serious thisis cool,i have never done a hack before.

sainsaw November 5th, 2007 1:08 PM

Nice, only, the tiles are dark, I don't
know its because of the rain of in the whole game?

Alistair November 15th, 2007 5:29 PM

Thanks for the comments. Work on Harmony is slowly coming back. I have made some new tiles for Sunflower City and Sunflower Field. Here is a small demo map that demonstrates them (There are also some trees that do not have giant sunflowers on them).

http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/7373/demomapoj4.png

Also, about the poll, that was there because people were not posting in the thread.

destinedjagold November 15th, 2007 5:33 PM

Ah... Weird how the trees has those big blooms of sunflowers on top of them... I can't see the logic, but nah~ Everythings possible in POKEMON, right? :D

It looks very pleasing to the eyes. So harmonic...

A slow progress, yet so good. I wish you the best of luck!

Erimgard November 15th, 2007 5:34 PM

hmmm not quite sold on the new tiles
they aren't bad...but they just seem weird.
I'd suggest you come up with a completely different bottom to the sunflower tiles instead of making them have tree bottoms
either way, I'm glad to see this thread active again
best of luck!

I'm greatly impressed by your imagination, Don. Adding enormous sunflowers on top of trees adds a great effect to "Harmony", or better known as your tiles being harmonic. I think it would go good with lighter tiles though, I think they're a bit dark. It's just my opinion, ignore it as much as you want.

And I agree with Erimgard, having completely different stumps to the bottom of the trees should be, maybe, a bit longer?

DarkShadow November 15th, 2007 5:42 PM

harmony version seems to be very good keep up the good work and if any help need i will offer assistent in anything i can do.

Actually, the sunflower trees have something to do with the storyline (You have to save the only Sunflora of Sunflower Field, and the trees have something to do with it).

I wondered if it might be a storyline thing.
In that case, it sounds good to me. The tiles are quite well made, and I like a good story twist :D

Lady Berlitz November 15th, 2007 5:49 PM

Yup. Those are very soothing, natural tiles. Man, it just makes me want to play it more, and more, and more! Keep up the good work, Don.

Virtual Chatot November 15th, 2007 5:50 PM

I love this hack so much T_T

I love the sunflower field, and I love the storyline so far

zel 2.0 November 15th, 2007 5:53 PM

Ehhhmmm... Well, I'm not that OK with the tree with the giant flower on the top, the problem is that, in my opinion, doesn't look realistic... Wouldn't it be the same if many flowers (or sunflowers, as you seem to call'em) were to blossom from inside the tree (hope you get the idea of what I mean, the sunflowers popping out from the tree), that way it'd look more beautiful, because putting just one giant flower on the top gives me the impression that you were a bit lazy when creating the new tree -_-

But are the sunflowers on the ground supposed to be as big? (That's something I don't like that much about your flowers tiles... They tend to be too big, almost as the size of the hero)

As always, take this as my personal opinion ;)

Alistair November 29th, 2007 7:11 PM

Yes, that is your opinion, and I did take it into consideration, but the tree turned out much worse. I am still trying to make a new one that looks right.

Anyway, thanks for the comments. I have a tileset update. I am adding much more!

Erimgard November 29th, 2007 9:23 PM

looks great Don Patch
The only ones I don't like are the two in the top right hand corner
I've seen you use similar style tiles before, and I've never really been a fan of them. but the others look great

Lady Berlitz November 30th, 2007 11:16 AM

Isn't that tree a revamp of the one from Diamond/Jade? Well, it looks great. The houses look a little plain, too. That's all. They're awesome, though, good luck, Don!

Lupe December 1st, 2007 7:01 AM

wow cool tiles only the houses seem kinda plain,so when will there be updates?

Virtual Chatot December 1st, 2007 7:33 AM

He just updated yesterday...You can't expect him to make updates every day o_o

Lady Berlitz December 1st, 2007 7:36 AM

I sort of agree with you, Trainer Lupe. I don't agree that every house is plain, I only think the blue house farthest on the right is plain.

Keep up the awesome progress on Harmony, Don!

master pokemon December 2nd, 2007 7:56 AM

good hack

I'm looking forward to try it

Johnny3 December 2nd, 2007 4:11 PM

Don, never in my life would I have thought that I would see a tree with a flower on top xD
Your tiles are amazing, good luck with..

EvilCrazyMonkey December 8th, 2007 7:14 PM

heheMOO

this hack looks awesome I can't wait for a beta version yet.
I like the use of original sprites. Don't let us down!

Alistair December 9th, 2007 1:10 PM

Hey, sorry for not providing very many "actual updates." Some new screenshots are coming soon (I have not had very much time to work on it). I have not really been working out scripting, but rather ironing out the errors that have been occurring with the new tilesets.

Virtual Chatot December 9th, 2007 1:38 PM

Its ok Don, I haven't seen to many people complain around here about a Lack of Updates. From What I've seen this hack is going to be awesome when completed, taking its place among the great hacks.

Some Random Dramatic Speech that was, eh?

That's no problem, Don. Everyone has a lack of updates on their hack every now and then. Look at Zel, "the best hacker on PC" (to most people), he's on hold for a month. Just trying to make you feel better! ^^

Well, good luck, Don, the hack's gotten a lot of progress from what I've seen at how it started!

About the heroine/hero, they are being replaced by me. I just need to finish spriting them. The female OW walking is done now.

By the way, I'm just quoting your post at the first page of this post that you said to me a while ago, they still haven't been sprited. I'd be honored if I can do them... but, seeing as this is a solo hack, then it's okay if you say no.

zel 2.0 December 10th, 2007 5:07 AM

Not having the thread open != Not been working, Esmas

Anyway, yeah, don't worry about lacking some updates. As long as you sometime share at least one idea to give us something to talk about, we'll be fine ;)

But, make sure you get to learn more about scripting, as you know, new events are what give the game some new life.

Willbey December 13th, 2007 11:13 AM

Wow, your tiles are great! I can't wait for the demo!
Anyway, good luck!

giova90 December 15th, 2007 9:04 AM

i don't like the tiles!but isn't so bad!good luck

Alistair December 15th, 2007 10:16 AM

Could you at least tell me why you do not like my tiles? Otherwise, I am going to ignore your comment.

Anyway, I still have not figured out the problem with the map overlappings, but I will at least post some of the new maps later (They are not quite complete yet).

Mr Slayer December 15th, 2007 12:38 PM

nice tiles

btw its christmas holidays so i might be able to help out with maps unless i find something else to do
and if i do make maps i wont be able to do scripts as i have no idea how to script

ps: nice tiles

Tentacruel13 December 15th, 2007 12:50 PM

Cool. It looks like a lot of hard work was put into this.

Renyui! December 17th, 2007 11:34 AM

cool hack, don
love the tiles, looking awesome
errr.... thats all i have to say.

Virtual Chatot January 4th, 2008 4:39 PM

Hey Don, how goes the hacking?

thethethethe January 4th, 2008 5:37 PM

Didn't Дон Пач put this hack on "temporary cancellation?" Maybe he didn't post that here, I haven't checked. But that was mentioned at another forum and that it's coming back in March some time.

Alistair January 5th, 2008 6:50 AM

Oops. I guess I forgot. Anyway, The*4 said, this hack is on temporary cancellation. I need some time to think of new ideas for it, learn ASM, and schoolwork. I also might release a fangame, too.

Lady Berlitz January 5th, 2008 7:51 AM

Well, as long as your taking a break for schoolwork, ideas, and learning more hacking stuff, it's fine. But if you're trying to keep away from the public, then... well, I don't agree. =p

I hope you learn some more useful things about it, as the hack is great.
