What do you mean froslass

Gary, the Magic Fairy December 13th, 2008 3:14 PM

I think she means it's blocky and squared looking. Specifically on the head.

The shading and outining is very odd is several places. There are many places, like the ones I pointed out, that are too light and really don't make any sense considering your light sources. Also, you may want to take into consideration the fire as a minor light source?

Crosell December 14th, 2008 6:42 AM

Made an revamp, haven't been doing those for a long time.
It's an revamp of Feraligatr Pkmn Crystal.

I kinda rushed the sprite.
Any C&C would be appreciated.

Not to mention the brown used to show the curls in the fur is a little too dark, at least in my opinion. It shows a little too much emphasis on the curls :S

Ok thanks guys. Well i decided to try it out on once again, Nytkoi's: Pokemon Moonlight; Aquard.

rating
colouring:9/10 too realistic
outlines: 6/10 you should usuially put black at some parts
design: 8/10 pretty cool but it has to have some reality to it
overall 7.8/10 good

I can't say I really agree with this.
The colouring is not realistic. Infact, it's far rather not realistic enough then too realistic.
It might have a more complex look since pokemon sprites have a very cartoony look and this hasn't achieved that effect.
Just because it's not cartoony does not mean it is realistic.
There seems to be a lightsource but the way the shadow fall and the placement of the highlights don't make too much sense.
Some real life studies should get rid of this problem.

Pokemon sprites do indeed use alot of black in the outlines (The outlines never really made much sense to me to be honest.) But before adding black is considered the lines need to be cleaned up.

Design wise it's too plain, not fancy enough for a pokemon sprite.
A pokemon usually has more to it design wise.
The large vegative area allows for alot of space to add details on.
(Don't overdo it either though.)

Basicly I really recommend you learn the basics through means less confined then pokemon sprites, since they have some specific rules attached to them constricting the learning process.
Consider not keeping yourself to the pokemon style.
Try to master the basics in general before you confine yourself.

The arms seem too long or the legs seem too short. Legs are also a tad too thin.

Opacus December 17th, 2008 1:16 PM

Allright, thanks for that.
I slightly shortened his/my arms. I also made the legs slightly thicker.
Looks better now?
I'm keeping the legs the way they are, even if they seem short. Because it's not the legs:
I wear my jeans rather low :)

Can't agree more with your sig by the way. Recolours etc, blegh.

Fox♠ December 17th, 2008 1:50 PM

a lot better, only one problem now, the neck/chest area needs more defining, it just looks like one long neck.

Atomic Reactor December 17th, 2008 7:05 PM

You didnt make any sprites in there...?

GFA December 17th, 2008 7:15 PM

*Smacks Head* Well, it fits into Pixel Projects doesn't it?

Atomic Reactor December 17th, 2008 7:24 PM

So i cant see how it would.

TB Pro December 17th, 2008 8:49 PM

I've been working on trainer revamps for a while, and I want to know what you all think about them. I'll also throw in some trainer fusions.
