Wild encounters increased?
Hello.
My brother complains that random encounters are more frequent than before on his Diamond version. Any players of the previous generations notice this? For my Ruby/Sapphire and FireRed/Leaf Green, I noticed a massive increase in random battles. Is it true that if you have a high level Pokemon at position #1, you encounter fewer battles? When did this feature come into play? ~ impro Spoiler:

sometimes it can depend on what abilities your pokemon has with encounter rate. the abilities that raise the encounter rate are:
Arena Trap Illumiate Magnet Pull (Steel) so if one of your pokemon has any of these abilities, that is maybe why the encounter rate is more frequent. |
Also, there's another ability called luminate.

static attracts more electric pokemon....
sand veil and snow cloak decrease wild encounters, compundeyes increases pokemon holding item apparences, cute charm makes the chance of encountering a Pokémon of the opposite gender is 66.6%, hustle increases the chance of battling a higher-leveled wild Pokémon by 50% Intimidate decreases the chance of encountering a lower-level wild Pokémon by 50% and many more...but I'm not your bulbapedia...however, these might help you. |
Static increases the chance of an Electric type wild encounter.
By the way, all of these special abilities need you to have the Pokemon in the front of your party. |
yea, and using Synchronize to find pokemon with the nature of your lead synchronizer
|
Does these all still work if the lead is fainted?

I think your theory of a higher Pokemon in position 1 would lower wild encounters. At least it would make sense, because it in some way tells you to level up your Pokemon more. If you encounter more wild Pokemon which you defeat, you will gain more exp.
Can't confirm it though. I just use repels :P |
