iCE CUBE September 30th, 2007 1:20 AM

Well im a guitarist so can i become a co-owner please?

Lumine September 30th, 2007 2:36 AM

Im a Guitarist and a retired Pianist, Im willing to join

Lady Nicole October 1st, 2007 11:18 AM

I'm a concert pianist, can I join?

Yeah, I'm obsessed with Rachmaninoff

Cosmic Tyrant October 2nd, 2007 12:09 AM

Wow, people have actually replied. I was getting worried for a minute. Yep, you're all in!

Now that weve got members, how about a topic to start off with?

First up, the obvious one: What is your favorite kind of music and why?

I myself enjoy Alternative, Rock, and Metal. The first one because with vocals like Adam lavigne, Gnarls Barkley, and 2-D, you really can't argue that the genre's as easy listening as well as blowout good. The other tow because they just get me pumped up and I just feel like I wanna dance.

emember, I'm looking for one more Co-Owner!

Lady Nicole October 2nd, 2007 3:53 AM

I'll do it! I'll be a co-owner!

^_^

Of course, you don't have to let me be.

I'm obsessed with classical composers like Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Beethoven (not that anyone cares about them lol).

Rachmaninoff's music is very original and emotional, and despite living in the 20th century he still used more traditional harmonies and techniques. What I love about Rachmaninoff is the way he lets the tension build up in his music and then resolves it at a climax with a big, fat chord.

Chopin was educated in the traditional styles of Mozart and Haydn but he was very much a peak in the romantic style. I love how his melodies seem to sing.

Beethoven's music was very structured and he was considered a great turning point between the classical and romantic periods. He extended on the sonata form of the classical era and wrote longer movements in everything (he even put a choir in his 9th symphony!).

Lol, yeah I know I'm weird.

iCE CUBE October 2nd, 2007 7:17 AM

My fave music would be techno or hip hop.....

But my fave band would be the gorillaz....

B-Baller October 2nd, 2007 11:00 AM

My favourite music is heavy metal. It's heavy, sometimes fast and sometimes vulgar so that kinda reflects on me as a person. I play bass too so I know how musically complex this type of music can be. I love to headbang to my favourite songs too. My favourite band is Metallica (even though their latest album was a disappointment) and always will be.

I do enjoy a bit of rap, such as 2Pac, NWA, Eminem and The Game.

What I do tend to avoid though is liking bands a vast majority of my friends like. Call me weird but I like having a different music taste from the rest of my friends. Bein unique is cool. xD

iCE CUBE October 3rd, 2007 8:52 AM

Hey guys do you know someone who could make little banner things for us....

Lumine October 3rd, 2007 9:01 AM

I play the classical guitar, used to be able to play a bit of Mozart piece but totally forgot everything >.< yeah I think I should take up Piano once again.
I like anything classical, oldies, blues, a little bit of of rock/metal/rap guess thats about it

I agree that being unique is cool, however I wouldn't go completely out of my way just to be unique. But yeah, I totally see what you mean ^_^ being unique is awesome.
I have to admit, I kind of like Metallica too. My favourite song of theirs is Enter Sandman.
I love The Doors, my favourite song of theirs is People are Strange.
But I absolutely love Johnny Cash  how cool am I?

But dude, this is the "musical" fan club. I'm pretty sure rap belongs in the "noise" fan club XD nah, just kidding :P

Lumine October 5th, 2007 6:03 AM

I can play Enter Sandman on the classical guitar, it may look hard at first glance but it just takes about an hour to master it

Lady Nicole October 5th, 2007 6:13 AM

Really, you can play Enter Sandman? ^_^ Hehe, that's so awesome! I love that song. I wish I could play the guitar but I can't be bothered to learn lol, I've got too much to do with the piano.

Lumine October 5th, 2007 6:14 AM

Yeh its my fav song from Metallica, hey your a concert pianist I would guess your pretty renowned then?

Lady Nicole October 5th, 2007 8:01 AM

haha no, not really XD I guess I am around where I live but not that much so.
I'm not a particularly good one, you see. I just do concerts and stuff cos I can. And people actually come and listen ^_^ Most of the time I do it for charity so, as I remind myself, that's probably why  I'm not good enough to do "tours of the world" and stuff though. Anyway, I only do it part-time so I don't practice as much as the really good, famous concert pianists (I can't, I don't have time).
But yeah, I do have like a massive repertoire lol.

B-Baller October 5th, 2007 11:42 AM

I can play Enter Sandman on bass. It's pretty fun to play and it was one of the first songs I ever learned.

My favourite Metallica song would have to be Master of Puppets (their masterpiece) or Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth).

But man I wish I was as popular as you, Lady Nicole. Hehe. Our band kinda has a small "cult following" around our area but nowhere else. xD

Lady Nicole October 5th, 2007 11:45 PM

Hmmm I'm not sure what you can do with a band to make it more popular. But I know that you can't just wake up one morning and decide to be a concert pianist then book yourself a concert and expect people to come because they won't. You have to achieve something first so that you can prove yourself before people even listen to you, like winning a competition or something. Then people will come and listen. It doesn't matter how good you are, if you haven't got anything to prove that people won't bother with you ^_^

Lumine October 6th, 2007 1:13 AM

I just realized something... we dont have that many members here XD so I guess there arent many musicians here at PC, oh right guys BLAZE has finished requesting the banner and here it is

Haha yeah aye...the PC Band! w00t!!! xD. That would be fun.

@Lady Nicole: We have proven that we're good...just that our singer's underage and so can't enter certain Battle of the Bands or stuff like that (our singer's 12 and the rest of us are 13...xD)

Aww that sucks. Never mind, your singer only needs to grow up one year and then you can prove how good you are ^_^

BreD October 8th, 2007 6:52 AM

Thanks ^_^
Erm, am i in?
If so i'd like to ask if people would like me to make a Drummer banner, a guitarist one and a Bassist one, i already made the keyboard / piano one.

Topic: IF YOU COULD MAKE AN INSTROMENT WHAT WOULD IT BE LIKE?

Lady Nicole October 16th, 2007 11:56 AM

*gasp* I'll tell you guys what happened to me today!

I was playing a Rachmaninoff etude on the piano and then when I played this massive chord I heard something smash. There was a glass vase on the piano that I didn't know about and the lid of the piano was open. The vase must have shifted as I was playing and then it fell into the piano when I played that heavy chord. Oh dear...the vase broke and now there's broken glass inside the piano. When I try to play it it makes a horrible noise! :(

Now I have to get someone to dismantle the piano to get the glass out :'(

Ouch! well dont worry if the piano looks ok it will probably will be.

Lady Nicole October 17th, 2007 8:38 AM

Thing is, the piano makes a horrible noise every time I play it. I called someone and they said they'd come tomorrow to sort it out :)

However I have a concert tonight and I haven't been able to practice properly for a whole day :paranoid:

Damn. I'm doomed.

Anyway, staying on topic...if I could make an instrument it would be like a piano but with a kind of touch screen instead of pressing down keys. That way, I could slide my fingers over the notes and get a harmonica type effect :) How cool would that be?

If I could make an instroment I would make a guitar with lots of holes all over it and it automaticly tunes itself...

Lady Nicole October 21st, 2007 8:45 PM

Hey! I was wondering if you knew something. You know that really famous funeral march tune? It's actually part of a piano sonata written by Chopin.

Here's a video of Vladimir Horowitz playing the whole thing (pretty ancient recording, I know, but Horowitz was such a wonderful pianist):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYG-Q-TlC8E

Or you can skip to 14:35 to hear the funeral march bit.

Or you can watch this video which is just the funeral march bit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5UrVdvk1Ao

I love this piece, it's so amazing! I'm not trying to be depressive or emo or anything but it is one of the most incredible pieces of music ever written. Fact. I love Horowitz's interpretation and I'd love to play it myself but my mum won't let me cos she doesn't like it...

EDIT: I also love the other dude's interpretation :) it's like wow o.O too bad they cut off the end.

Lumine October 22nd, 2007 8:15 AM

Amazing Vladimir Horowitz is a piano god

So thread topic is still the "make your own instrument"?

Well seeing Im not uber creative or anything I guess I want a guitar where you can open the body and store your picks, strings, slides, etc

Fender and Gibson have beat you to it. xD.

People were actually talking about that self-tuning guitar thing...it's kind of stupid when you think about it, since it will turn a whole generation of guitarists into lazy people. Besides, learning to tune by ear is a good skill and it improves your understanding in music overall.

Haha. I could just imagine saying to my children couple of years from now..."Back in my day, we had to tune our guitars manually" and they'd be like "What?" xD

On topic...I'm not sure, actually. Maybe a bass with a whammy pedals, wah pedals, loop pedals, distortion pedals, amps, tuners and the like already installed. Saves times from stomping on them pedals all the time, plus also saves you from tripping up on your cable all the time. xD

iCE CUBE October 24th, 2007 12:25 AM

Speaking of falling over wires, I tripped over my wire and fell down the stairs!

Cosmic Tyrant October 24th, 2007 11:13 AM

Yikes! I totally forgot about this club! I'm so ashamed now... But at least it's still alive and kicking thanks to all of you members, so thanks for sticking around! I went through the club, so now everything should be in top order on the front page. And by the way, that's a nice banner!

Lumine October 24th, 2007 11:43 PM

Im thinking of taking up drum, is anyone here an experienced drummer?

iCE CUBE October 26th, 2007 6:07 AM

Alright, looks like we have another member! I'll add you to the list.

Anyways, let's move on to another topic: If you formed a band, what instruments would all of your bandmates play?

My band would most likely have a lead guitarist/singer, along with a drummer and bassist, with me on the keyboard.

Vocals
Guitar
Keyboards
Bass (that's me, xD)
Drums

An interest in metal would help, xD. Well I guess maybe I could swap keyboards with rhythm guitar (for the rhythm parts), but unique bands are cool. xD.

And maybe you could throw in an occasional cello player or a violinist in the mix...Apocalyptica style. xD

jcurci November 4th, 2007 3:55 PM

Guitar
Drums
Vocals
Key board(me)

Lumine November 4th, 2007 4:09 PM

This threads dying what is with you heartless people =O ??! anyways my band would consist of
-2 Guitarist
-2 Pianist
-1 Bassist
-1 Drummer
-1 or 2 Vocal(s)
-DJ (not important but meh)
